The Mosh Pit: The Official Metal Thread

I have listened to Killer Be Killed and I think it's great. Love the different vocal styles meshing together. I keep meaning to get the album but I always end up getting something else instead. It's weird I bought a Mastadon album after hearing them but not this actual album.

I sadly do not own the album yet either, but I've heard it a few dozen times. They really struck gold with that project.

Tickets for Deftones & Incubus? Check.

Tickets for Slipknot\Lamb of God & Bullet For My Valentine? Check.

Cant wait for these shows. Always a good time.

My ears are still ringing from Mayhem Festival last night. Slayer was fucking great. Checked that one off the bucket list as well as King Diamond. Hellyeah & the rest of the lineup was alright, but I didnt really pay much attention as I dont really like the others much if at all. The money spent was intended for the big two & they were both well worth it.

I want to go see Van Halen, but the tickets I am finding are a bit more than I would like to spend just to cross them off my musical bucket list. Besides them it seems to be down to Aerosmith, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots (thats likely never to happen bc I hate Chester Bennington) Motley Crue, AFI, Rolling Stones, ACDC & TOOL. Always get screwed on TOOL tickets somehow & seeing APC twice just isnt the same thing. A few wont be as good as years past, but since they are all still around it counts. Just wish I got to see a few of the great ones before my time or before certain people died.

AFI is amazing live. I saw them open for Green Day a few years back, and even though they only got 35 minutes, they killed it.

Tool is also on my bucket list. Along with Foo Fighters, King Diamond, Metallica...A few others, but those are the big four right now.

Saw Foo Fighters a while back when they toured with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Damn good show from both bands. Only seen Metallica once & they fucking murdered it. It was around when Robert Trujillo first joined. They are a band that definitely delivers live. Loud and hard with plenty of options to play, they hit damn near every song I wanted to hear.

We must've seen different AFI's, then.

I saw Metallica and they play well. However, the tardiness, the preachy vibe they give and playing too much of their new stuff killed them for me. Glad I did it, won't do it again.

What tour did you see them on? On the Green Day tour, they were playing to sold out amphitheaters, which is going to get the band to a different level than a small club.

Or, it was an off night.

Guns.
Razors.
Knives.

That Deftones show was badass. Played a decent set mixed with old and new. I forgot it was on Dimebag's birthday & the crowd was on fire. Well, something was at least. When Chino gets on stage and references the giant cloud forming overhead, you know shit got hazy. Especially since half the venue is outdoors. Had lawn seats & it was a nice day for a show. Incubus was good as always, but Deftones was by far better. Besides the $14 beers, it was a very enjoyable evening.

Do you know who the new bassist is or did they not have one on stage?

Pretty sure it was Vega, who took over after Chi's accident. He has been recording with them for a bit now so I assume it was him, but we were not close enough to really tell.

Ghost acoustic set from the Rough Trade performance and meet-and-greet yesterday.

Amazingly nice dudes. Line was out the door and around the block to meet them and have them sign records/CD's, yet they still took an extra 60 seconds or so to shake every fans' hands and have a little small talk. I even got Papa and one of the Ghouls to laugh when I asked him when the official Church of Ghost was opening so I knew where to send my donations.

Venue was nice and small, so it was really intimate. The best way to see acts like this while they're still relatively small enough to do so.

I'd imagine that'll all change by the fourth record. They're already getting huge within the metal and hard rock community.

New Baroness is out:

Fucking love Baroness, was about all me and one of my friends listened to last summer, leading up to seeing them live. They're great live.

First five seconds of this song are the musical equivalent of how I feel about life lately:

Everything they did after that album is shit, but that first album was great.

Was at Leeds Festival.

Saw

Queen Kwong, Beartooth, Bury Tomorrow, Cancer Bats, While She Sleeps, All Time Low, Panic At The Disco, Limp Bizkit, Babymetal, Alexisonfire, Atreyu, Bring Me The Horizon and Metallica.

Fucking mint
