The Mosh Pit: The Official Metal Thread

I love it and love Slipknot. They're music is amazing and been my favorite bands along with Metallica!

I am a maggot for life.

I've heard of TYR bring pirate metal but not that band. TRY is heavy though.

Bullet For My Valentine is working on new material. Heard a new song and it feels fresh. I like all of the bands material but this is more like The Poison meets Fever. Hope it turns out good

Anyone here heard of a band called Alestorm? Totally cheesy and over-the-top, but so much damn fun to listen to.

Pirate metal could potentially be the next Viking metal.

Got a lot of cool songs. They also did a pretty good cover of Taio Cruz's Hangover. Just an overall fun band.

I can't see YouTube videos on my phone when posted. Whom is it?

Judas Priest.

Freaking love 'em Fallout! Check this cover of a Lazytown song:

A lot of their stuff is on Youtube (But please buy the album etc.)

Mostly I prefer beautiful, glorious and elegant Symphonic Metal. Nightwish are my faves but I am looking for other good recommendations! Male or female vocals are both good with me.

Does the genre matter, or you looking for anything different?

I'm prepared to try anything, but I don't usually like speed/thrashy stuff as I prefer the more refined and classy types of metal. Symphonic, Orchestral, anything like that.

Growly or death vocals are also something I tend to avoid, unless they're combined with proper singing (like Cradle of Filth's "Her Ghost in the Fog").

But yeah, fire away with any suggestions dude!

Cradle of Filths' Temptation is the only song I like from them. Stuff that is not growly or death style vocals can be good too. Have you heard of a band called Raunchy? The album A Discord Electric is really good.

Maybe try if you don't already know them, Dream Theater is pretty good as well. They are more singing than anything and they are all talented musicians.

Killswitch Engage have screams and stuff but both vocalists that they've had are/were good singers. If you're unsure check out their cover of Holy Diver if you're unsure.

Yeah man, I am familiar with Holy Diver and the Killswitch version - it stems from being a Punk mark. There is a live version of This Fire Burns on Youtube.

But yeah I don't mind screamy vocals if there's real singing behind it as well.

For the longest time Killswitch Engage was the only metalcore type band I could get into because if you took away the screamo vocals there was some good singing behind it.

Anyone into Nothing More? Just now checking them out with that single "This Is The Time" and I think it's alright.

Kinda has me thinking about what Gene Simmons said about Rock being dead. With a group like Nothing More making waves now, I can't agree with him.

Never heard of them but I'll check them out.

I'm debating on taking a risk and buying Slipknot tickets for Knot fest. None are coming to Florida so I'm thinking Texas. I've listened to King 810 or whatever they're called and idk I didn't like it. But I do love Slipknot.

I say go for it. I've never seen Slipknot but damn will I try and go when they do a European tour.

On the Slipknot front I've only just listened to the self titled album and Iowa and I'm thinking why did I never listen to them before

Self titled with Purity and redone with Me Inside are amazing. They had due to take the song Purity off the original album to the meaning of the song. If you can hear the song it will sound like Despise just with different lyrics. Despise is the demo version of the song.

I love Self Titled and Volume 3 The Subliminal Verse then Iowa. They get hated on so much for no reason but the sound and style of the band is amazing. If you could see them live do so as they should be going to Europe from what I have been reading.

New Mushroom head is awesome and new Ill Nino is out right amazing. I know I mentioned it before but the more I listen the more it become a true work of art.

Long time death metal band Behemoth is debating on baking it quits possible after the new year. I'm not a fan but just sine metal news I've read recently.

Also, if I knew how to post pictures I'd have posted the new masks for Slipknot.

New Skindred sounds really good too. Anyone a fan and have you Learned Babylon?

Any Between the Buried and Me fans in here? They're most closely associated with prog/math metal. If you're a musician you have to check them out, disgustingly talented. This is an older album but my personal favorite, from the Queen style harmonies in the opening to the heavier track likes Ants In the Sky.

Not to much a fan personally but they are really talented. My friend said they're really great live. Did they break up?
