The Bullshiting About Comics Thread w/ Justin & Friends

I haven't seen Arrow yet. I was hoping they'd use some of the same actors from Smallville. I'll have to wait until the reviews start to come in.

Reviews have already been coming in, just about every major site that does that sort of thing has already posted their reviews of the show like 5 days ago, & it's in no way connected to Smallville at all, this show is actually good.

You didn't like Smallville? Along with Veronica Mars those were the only shows on the CW that I liked.

I only watched the first two season of Smalleville, & couldn't get into the show at all

You missed out. I thought the relationships between the Luthors and later Clark and Jor El were well written and portrayed as well as the different early representations of the members of the Justice League and the Kryptonian villains. I didn't care much for the last season, partially because I wanted Doomsday to be the final villain instead of Darkseid.

They were rich billionaires on a massive yacht, pretty sure the bow could have been on the boat & washed up on shore. Though really who gives a shit, it's a ficional tv show for fuck sake, if the type of Bow he's using is your biggest problem then I'd say they did a pretty good job, since there's only about 8 people on Earth that are really going to give a fuck about what type of bow he uses.

Remix is an archer, that's why he's so chewed up about it. Also, because he's Remix. But let's not act like the rest of us haven't gotten a mild case of nerd rage because of some silly little detail.

Did anyone else read Uncanny Avengers last week? Fucking great book, I think Alex Summers sums up my feelings about Scott pretty well in that issue as well.

Have you read all of the "outrage" over the last panel? Some good shit out there if you look around.

Not really, ICC is much like the IWC in that they get enraged over every stupid fucking thing before ever seeing where it goes. I enjoyed the book & the few reviews I've seen for it have been mainly positive. I have faith in Remender as a writer, his work on Uncanny X-Force & Venom is largely what drew me back into picking up comics again on a weekly basis.

I think Uncanny Avengers is going to work really well. Remender has already said that he's bringing his Apocalypse story over from X-Force, so that is just awesome. I'm just curious as to how/why Cable and X-Force are going to be the #1 Antagonist of the UA's coming up.

Also, Remender pretty much said at NYCC that his UXF is getting the Omnibus treatment, so there goes some money because I'm buying that up real quick.

Finally, I don't mind the last panel but
how in the hell could the Red Skull go up and take Xavier's body without anyone knowing? I'm sure we'll find out, but that's my only head scratcher.

Alright, I now have access to Marvel's digital library for a month. What should I read first?

I decided to give it a try, because every series I follow monthly is DC. It's nothign against Marvel, but the New 52 kind of rebooted my interest in comics. I'm currently reading Batman, Batman & Robin, Batman Inc., Nightwing, Teen Titans, and have the first hardcover compendium of Justice League, which I thought was...ok. I also really enjoy what I've read from Swamp Thing and Dial H. As you can see...I'm really into the new(ish) Batman universe.

The filler issue of Batman & Robin with the massive Robin(s) fight is probably one of my favorite recent books. I know it's largely filler, but Robin has always been up there in my favorite heroes, and to see them all going at it was super nostalgic. So anyways, back to the question:

Marvel. What am I reading? Until somebody responds, I'm going to re-read Civil War.

I just read the first issue of the '99 reboot of Amazing Spider-Man.
Parker is retired; the Avengers and FF are trying to figure out where Spider-Man went. Scorpion tries to capture Parker, but a second Spider-Man saves the day.

Start with the original series of deadpool, and dont worry about the rest!

Met Bob Layton and Harvey Tolibao over the past weekend, really nice guys. Got a Limited edition Psylocke print that is hand numbered and limited to 1500 in the world and I got 257. Also got a couple of Prints of Iron Man that Bob Layton had done.

Wish I had the money to get proper sketch work done by them but prints are what I have to work with.

I've started downloading comics from torrents and I want to read some good crossover events from the 80's to Present. I've downloaded The Infinity Gauntlet, The Infinity Crusade, The Onslaught Saga, and I'm currently downloading Fear Itself.

Could anyone recommend some other good crossovers? Thanks!

Marvel do hundereds more than DC. Take your pick.

If you want a DC event that was good, I'd go for Identity Crisis. Very good character driven plot, very interesting, good writing and art work.

I read Infinite crisis and 52 straight after and found it to be a nice (convoluted) treat, if thats what youre into.
