The Bullshiting About Comics Thread w/ Justin & Friends

Last week, I had no books coming out that I read, this week is a whole other story, looks like there are gonna be 5 books on my pull list this week.

  • Batman #10
  • Uncanny X-Force #26
  • X-Men #30 (Brian Wood takes over as writer here)
  • American Vampire: Lord of Nightmares #1 (of 5)
  • The Massive #1

Still reading Hulk eh?

I dropped it a few months ago, after I realized I was just getting really bored with it. I think Aaron could write a much more compelling Hulk comic if Hulk & Banner were not split apart.

I've only got a few myself, sadly:
Demon Knights #10
Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E #10
Resurrection Man #10

In other news, DC's finalized it's Third Wave. Justice League International, Resurrection Man, Captain Atom & Voodoo are getting replaced with Sword & Sorcery (picking it up), Phantom Stranger (considering it), Team 7 (bleh), and Talon (bleh).

Is Talon suppose to be a spin off of all the Court/Night of Owls stuff happening in the Bat-books?

Yes. It's about a Talon assassin who broke free from the Court of Owls. Can't imagine it'll have a long shelf-life, even if Synder's on it. As is, I'd have preferred a Black Bat & Spoiler title, if only to shut up their fans for once and for all.

For those that by TPB's, are there any websites that you go to that offer decent prices on books, or do you guys just buy them in store? What are the good websites if you do shop online?

Hulk and Banner are together again. This time it's being played like Banner is in Hulk's head so Hulk must stay angry to keep Banner from coming to continue his evil plans.

I won't be able to pick up my books for the week until Fri. but I got few

  • Batman Inc. #2
  • The Flash #10
  • Wolverine & the X-Men #12
  • X-Men #31

What would you fine scholars recommend to someone who enjoys the Nolan Batman films and the Warner Bros. animated series, but has never read any of the comics, and would like to pick up some graphic novels?

The animated series is easy, because they released an entire all ages comics series spin-off of the show, done in the exact same style art, & writing, so if you're looking for something like the cartoon you'll probably want to check out these

  • The Batman Adventures
  • Batman: The Dark Knight Adventures
  • The Batman Adventures: The Lost Years
  • Batman: Gotham Adventures
  • The Batman Adventures: Dangerous Dames and Demons
  • The Batman Adventures: Mad Love
  • Batman: Harley and Ivy Batman: Gotham Knights #14
  • Harley and Ivy: Love on the Lam
  • Vol. 1: Rogues Gallery
  • Vol. 2: Shadows and Masks

As for the Nolan Batman, I'm just gonna to revert back to the Batman: Where Do I Start list

  • Batman: Year One
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Gotham Central: In The Line of Duty
  • Batman: The Killing Joke
  • Batman: The Dark Knight Returns

If you're looking for some more Joker centric stuff then I have a list for that as well

  • The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told
  • Batman: Going Sane
  • Batman: The Killing Joke
  • Joker
  • Gotham Central Book 2: Jokers & Madmen

and you can't have a Joker list without a Harley Quinn list (albeit a very short list)...

  • Batman: Mad Love & Other Stories
  • Batman: Harley & Ivy

I would also recommend any tpbs you can find written by Scott Snyder, I beleive he now has to Batman trades out there.

So no one else is picking the league of extraordinary gentlemen up?

I guess this pretty much answers my question, thanks very much! :)

Very light indeed.

EDIT: 1000th post
