The Bullshiting About Comics Thread w/ Justin & Friends

That's like asking someone to explain the appeal of wrestling, or stand-up, or any specific genre of music, etc. It's just a different medium of storytelling, a medium that combines exciting action-packed writing, featuring a endless cast of larger than life characters with fantastic artwork, & manages to fit it all into nice small bite-sized morsels. Which just kinda helps to make it easier to read multiple stories at a time. Obviously I can only speak for myself on this, others may have found the appeal of comics to be entirely different.
Pretty much. Not to mention the fact that there have been multiple runs and storylines and styles on any major character (and mini-series on lesser known ones), that you can pick and choose to your hearts content. Much more in the way of options and getting to pick what you want out of your comics than with most genre of books.

Been reading Messiah CompleX, this was one long ass X-event, damn good X-men story though. I'm almost finished, just got the last two chapters to go, then I think I'm gonna jump into Messiah War.

Messiah War and Second Coming, it's one helluva trilogy. I've always liked Bastion, but after this, he really jumped up high in my all time favorite X-Villain list.

Didn't know about Second Coming yet, all have to see if I can find all those on MDCU as well while I have the free month. It's actually a pretty nice service, I would recommend any new Marvel fans looking to read a bunch of older stuff plop down the $10 a month for it, I imagine you'd save a shit load of cash in the long run, seeing as how you wouldn't have to search out comic shops & book store trying to find back issues or trades, assuming you just want to read the shit of course.

I'm a new user and new to this thread, so forgive me if this has been asked before.

Does Marvel Comics Digital Unlimited upload ALL of their new comics into digital format?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No, most new stuff you have to buy, Digital Unlimited is a monthly pay services that lets you read the vast majority of Marvels old stuff (it looks like it takes about 6 months to a year for the newer comics to hit the Digital Unlimited service), if you read a lot of tpbs & don't mind reading comics online it's a good alternative seeing as how it's only $10 a month, & your tpbs typically run between $15-30 a piece.

I suppose if you liked Messiah Complex, you'll probably like War. You'll want to know how the story ends, so Second Coming is the final act of the trilogy. The trilogy as a whole might be a top 2 or 3 X story ever, it's that damn good. You see the seeds for the Schism being planted in Second coming, which ultimately leads to AVX.

Speaking of AVX, fuck Wolverine.

It's been excellent so far, also Bishop is an asshole.

WBs have announced a DC fighting game.

This doesn't surprise me since they did do a MK vs. DC game a few yrs. ago. I'm not much of a fighting game kinda guy so I doubt I'll even bother with this unless I get a free demo or trial off PSN at some point.

There is literally not a single book coming out this week that I'm interested in enough to pick up. Though as far as tpbs are concerned, DMZ Vol. 12 comes out this week, & I'll be picking that up eventually.

THe Fuck? They're bringing out a Watchmen prequel?

Fucking dedicated is what he is. It's funny that he's so dead-set from preventing his future from happening that he's willing to pretty much annihilate all of humankind.

I'm interested to see the X-Men revisit this in a few years and see if Hope really is the trigger that causes Bishop's future. I doubt she is, but it would still be a cool story.

Avengers vs. X-Men 5 fucking changed a whole lot of shit. Marvel said this issue was the game changer, just interested to see where this goes now.

I'd even be appalled if Alan Moore was on board. It's needless.

He's not on board, but that's what happens when you work for a company. All the work you do is owned by your supplier. He was pissed enough about the movie, he didn't want any acknowledgement for it.

Yeah I know he's not on board, it would be obvious he's not.

The Watchmen thing is old news, a lot of fanboys are pissed about it, Moore is furious from what I understand but really can't do anything about it, as he DC owns all things Watchmen. I really don't care, & have in interest in reading any off it. I feel everything that needed to be said & done with the whole Watchmen universe was covered in Moores original work.

Shit, I really wish I've been keeping up with this. I've been TOTALLY out of the loop on comics for almost a year now.

On Watchmen, eh, the numbers will likely not be as great as DC expects. Y'know, economic crisis and such. I'm more concerned with the fact that the Lizard still doesn't have a snout in Amazing Spider-Man...

World’s Finest
Earth-2
Batwing
Swamp Thing
X-O Manowar
Harbinger
Age of Apocalypse
Avengers Academy

Ludicrously awesome haul of comics this week for me.
