The Bullshiting About Comics Thread w/ Justin & Friends

Raise your hand if you're excited that Fear Itself got extended by three books?

Anyone?
Hello?

Guys?

No one?

Fear Itself 7.1, Fear Itself 7.2 & Fear Itself 7.3 will focus on Captain America, Thor & Iron Man.

I'm not a bit Marvel fan to be honest.

Just read Action Comics #2 and I think I'm officially hooked.

Action Comics #2 is awesome, Grant Morrison is nailing it with this book, I have not been this into a Superman book since Doomsday killed him.

Is X-Men Schism 1-5 worth a read without any real knowledge of X-Men & the events that brought us here?

I had been out of the X-loop for the most part (only X-book I was reading was Uncanny X-Force) going into Schism, & I was able to follow it pretty easily.

Wait, I thought everyone hated Fear Itself? Why the hell would they extend it?

Fear Itself is pretty shitty, started out decent, and then has just dragged on and on and on from there, it is full of soooo much stupid that it's near unbearable, for example they went back to old device of Stark hitting the bottle again, & at one point Spidey gives up, and Capt. tells the Avengers that they cant win this one and basically that if they want to give up go to go ahead. it's all just stupid on top of more stupid.

BINGO!

Although there is a LOT still to be wrapped up, and only one book left to do it so I'm sure it needed to be done to neatly wrap up the story, rather than force it in a single book.

...Or instead of extending it by 3 books, they could just make issue 7 an extra thick issue, even if it means they'll have to charge a little bit more for it.

Fear Itself. Schism is kind of a tough read if you don't have a basic idea of the X-World post Decimation.

I've never read Decimation, & I got through Schism just fine.

Before the New 52 started to come out, I gave a list of all of the books that I was interested in getting to my local comic shop. A couple of weeks went by, I wasn't getting all of the books that I requested so I gave them a second copy of the list of books, as they said they hadn't placed my order.

Another week went by and I still didn't get everything that I asked for, but I did get a few of the other books that were released in previous weeks. I was told that they still didn't put my name on the lists for the specific books.

On Wednesday night, I went to pick up my books, and I assumed that everything that I wanted & was released on that day would be in my pile. None of the newly released books were there, but they did give me a second printing of Detective Comics #1 which was released in the second week of September & they still didn't place my order.

I'm debating if I should get digital copies of all of the books that I've asked for but have yet to receive. I'd prefer to have an physical copy of certain books, but it seems like my local shop doesn't want my money.

Should I go digital until my local shop gets me caught up, or should I still be patient and wait?

Thoughts?

You should find a new shop, cause if that's the way yours is doing business, they probably are not going to be around much longer. Alot of shops will pull your comics for you if you give them a list, if you're out of town & willing to pay s&h I'm sure alot of them would also be willing to just pul them an send them off to you.

How the fuck does a Comic Shop not have titles like Detective Comics is stock? it's easily one of the biggest sellers of the new 52 books, or comics in general.

DC #1 sold out straight away in both comic stores in town, they do have the second reprint though. I think JL was the same.

They got Detective, just "not enough" for me.

Big week this week for me, as it seems like a shit load of books decided to drop all at the same time, here's my shopping list for the day.

-Generation Hope #12
-Ghostbusters #2
-Grifter #2
-Joe Hill's The Cape #2 (of4)
-New Avengers #17
-PunisherMAX #18
-Uncanny X-Force #16
-X-Men: ReGenisis #1

Batgirl #2 - $2.99
Batman & Robin #1 - $1.99
Batman & Robin #2 - $2.99
Batwoman #1 - $1.99
Batwoman #2 - $2.99

That's nearly $13.00 that I wanted to give my Local Comic Shop this week, instead I only gave them $2.99 because Green Lantern #2 was the only book that they pulled for me.

I asked about second printings of books that I was still missing such as Batwoman & Batman & Robin and they said that I didn't give them enough notice that I wanted them dispite me giving them a full list of EVERY book I wanted to get every month in August.

I'm not sure how giving notice a month and a half ago isn't enough time.

Like I said before, you're shop is likely going to be out of business before too long, which is kind of bitter sweet really, I hate seeing Comics Shops close, but at teh same time if you're going to run it into the fucking ground you kinda deserve to go out of business. To bad you don't have a shit load of money just laying around, you could just buy the shop from him & turn it around.

I asked the guy at my shop if they hire very often, he said "No, I've been here 10 yrs., & I'm still the newest employee" I said "Oh well, it was worth a shot, see you next week!"

I have read a fair few of the DC 52 now, DC is good, Red Lanterns could turn out to be quite good as a series. I liked Bat Girl. Suicide Squad is fun and should be a good one to keep going. Deathstroke was good as well.

Just read the conclusion to Schism. That fight was the bomb, and I'm happy to see that the kids rallied around Scott to fight off the Sentinel.

But then why the fuck are they leaving with Logan? If they want to fight, then why go with the guy that doesn't want them to fight?

And I can't help but feel like Hope is making a huge mistake. Cable was a fantastic leader, Scott is a fantastic leader... Logan is a weak leader. He does a decent job with X-Force, but he's still taking his cues from Cyclops. In the end of the day, I think she needs a father figure like Cyclops instead of a fun uncle like Wolverine.

I can't say I'm thrilled with the conclusion of the story as I thought it would be far more dramatic, but I'm excited to see where we go from here. I can't wait to see that little prick Killgore get kicked in the fucking face. Something tickles me when I see obnoxious children getting hurt.

I am digging Superboy more and more. I think he and Red Robin will have a great dynamic in Titans.

I missed batgirl out. My local comic store has this cool deal on the new 52 until the end of decembers books: Buy 5 get 1 free.

See I'm lucky in that the two in my town are two doors from each other. If one doesn't have it the other does. Plus the 5 get 1 free shop gives you a free plastic comic cover with each one.
