The Bullshiting About Comics Thread w/ Justin & Friends

Flash is out next week which I'm also getting along with Superman, Teen Titans and I'm really tempted by Aquaman strangely (just by the Supergirl hearing bit which says "I don't talk to fish").

Just discovered this place on kijiji a little while ago. I think I might have to arrange a visit and at the very least just soak it all in.

It's about five minutes away from my work, and about ten away from my house.

Is Morrison still writing Batman?

He's still writing Batman Inc., it's the only Batman title he was writing before the reboot.

You live 10 mins. away from heaven? must be nice

I read it earlier this week, of the six books I bought Schism #4 & Batman #1 were easily the best to comics out this week, and every one I read was great.

I bought 3 new tpbs today, & just now realized all 3 of them are DC (Kingdom Come, Batman: Battle for the Cowl, & Infinite Crisis.

Yeah, I'll not be buying Nightwing again, and I like Dick Grayson. I hear there's shagging in Catwoman, should anybody be interested in that sort of smut.

Kingdom Come is sauce. Awesome savory sauce.

Infinite Crisis is a good story, I'll give it that. But the trade is weak; it only follows the main story and forces you to pick up the other books if you want the full picture. Not that most of it is needed, but my biggest gripe was the Superboy/Nightwing arc was one of the strongest of the series and it's not in the main book. Unless, of course, you've picked up some sort of super edition with all of it.

I found it used for nice & cheap, only $7.50

Well it only cost $17 so I'm guessing it's not the super edition, but it's written by Geoff Johns, whom is one of my favorite writers. Though now I'm curious about the Nightwing/Superboy arc, & where I can find that.

There are a few titles that I'm curious about, American Vampire, Scalped, & Preacher, Strange Girl, & Fear Agent are all near the top of that list. Also waiting for a FF, Locke & Key Vol. 4, PunisherMAX: Kingpin, & PunisherMAX: Bullseye to be released in paperback as opposed to just the hardcover option.

I went on a little adventure on Saturday and made two stops at some comic shops about an hour away.

At the second store, normally I park out front, but this time I decided to park in the actual parking lot in the back. The back of the store is TRASHED with cardboard boxes and garbage everywhere, but as I was parking I realized that there were tons of trade paperbacks in and around the boxes. I'm assuming that they just weren't selling and they needed to make room for new books, so they just tossed them outside.

Despite the light rain, I thought I'd take a quick look to see if there was anything worth grabbing. Without actually going through trash to get to all of the boxes, I managed to see X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga so I picked it up and despite the rain, it was still in good condition with the exception of it being slightly soggy.

I put the book in to my car, and as we were about to pull out of the parking lot, the entire car started to smell like shit. At first I was worried that it was the book, but after a quick inspection of the shoes, it was confirmed that some how, I had stepped in dog shit.

So I have to know, is The Dark Phoenix Saga worth the price I paid? (Free, but stepped in dog shit)

And aside from the Holocaust & the Titanic, is there anything worse than stepping in shit?

Dark Phoenix Saga is legit the best storyline in X-Men history. Getting it for free is completely worth it.

And I'm loving the new design for Mr. Sinister.

Does anyone read comics online?

If so, what are people using? ComiXology? Something right from DC or Marvel? Other?

Kinda depends on what you're into, if you read alot of Marvel, for about $10 a month (I beleive) which is a pretty good deal, DC does day & date digital, which means as soon as a comic hits the stand it's available for DL on ComiXology, however if you wait a bit they drop the price of each issue from $2.99 to $.99. There is another site, Graphicaly, you can use to read stuff online from all sorts of publishers.

Dark Phoenix may be the best stryline in X-history, however Schism is giving it a run for it's money (I say this having it been close to 20 yrs. since reading Dark Phoenix).

Oh Sinister cleans up nice, I'm guessing he's going to be the main villain to Team Cyke following Schism

Well... looks like Cyke is sticking around.

It's not like is was a secret

Sinister's been long overdue for a revamp, so that's good news, and he looks pretty bad-ass too.

Wasn't he female last we saw him?

I just got a handful of #1s from the New 52 off of ComiXology, just to dip my toes in the water and see what ones I'd might be interested in picking up. They were mostly obscure titles like OMAC, Captain Atom etc.

Someone (I think it was you or FunKay) pointed me in the direction of DC comics online where you could purchase subscriptions of books (similar to Marvel, I'm sure) any idea what I'm talking about, or where I could find it?

Why the fuck did Marvel decide to stick Bachalo with Aaron on the new Wolverine & the X-men series? the guy sucks, his art is fucking terrible, & if it weren't for the fact that Aaron is writing this series I wouldn't even bother picking it up.

Keiron Gillian on the other hand seems to be a great writer who will also be getting a good artist to work with in Carlos Pacheo
