Sam's Thread of Chattin' w/ Jake & Other Robust Subjects

That top twenty really needs a good rejiggle. I'm happy with the top three - the rest, not so much. Oh well. Later in the year.

Wreck-It-Ralph was a big disappointment for me. Beyond the cute video game references and a few good voice acting performances (gonna give Sarah Silverman some props there, who knew she had it in her?), it really had very little going for it.

1. Before Midnight★★★★★

Your rankings usually leave me scratching my head, but it fills my heart with love to see this as your #1 for 2013. I've yet to see it, but I adored Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, so I'm positive Before Midnight is terrific as well.

Just watched Alpha Papa - review to follow.

But all the way through I was trying to work out where I knew the breakfast dj from, after cycling through the 17 films I've ever seen, I realised the answer was "I used to work with him". We've gone in different directions since then.

Hands down the best threequel ever. Yes, even better than The Godfather Part III.

Yes, but he'll never know the joys of hitting a teenager in the head with a weight and yelling, "Die! Die! Die!"

1. Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa ★★★11/16
2. Kick-Ass 2 ★★★5/8
3. Jack the Giant Slayer ★★

It was pretty funny, but definitely less funny than any other Partridge thing ever. It gets an extra 1/16 ★ because I knew someone in it.

WWE already has an A.J. Sorry, Styles. You get to stay in TNA.

I went to Leeds Festival and it was very muddy and full of unsupervised 16 year olds. I noticed a bunch jumping on tents. So I upturned my stool and put it in the middle of the tent whilst I went the toilet. I returned to find a member of security tell me that somebody had jumped on my tent and had to be taken to hospital. He said something about a broken rib and a leg hitting this person in the throat. Sounds painful.

Also went into a tent to see Knife Party (Nah, me neither!) and it very nearly turned into a less impressive Hillsbrough. I managed to work my way out of the tent when it became very uncomfortable. I pulled up two girls who'd managed to fall over and I carried their weeping, panicking bodies to the exit. Some jumped up little shits weren't letting people exit the tent. I pulled one lads hand off the pole he was holding and moved it in front of the pole. I let the surge of people do the rest. He moved quickly after that.

I also got tired of people nearly pushing my daughter off my shoulders during a set that wasn't busy. So I passed her to the girlfriend, pretended to get into the music and then drove my elbow into somebody's head. It was a bit too hard, to be honest. I almost felt guilt.

So yeah, basically I've been a Leeds Fest Batman.

I'd have been too cowardly to stop myself being crushed to death. Kudos, Jake - you never cease to amaze me.

I felt that way too. That said, I had a hearty laugh when it was revealed

Geordie Michael was never found.

Sam, Play has some cheap WWE DVDs at the mo, 3 of which I'm considering purchasing. As a man who bought virtually all the DVDs that Silver Vision had to offer (from what I understand) have you got any thoughts on the following;
Rey Mysterio: The Life Of A Masked Man (£4.91)
Batista: I Walk Alone (£4.99)
WWE: New World Order - The Revolution (£9.61)

The Rey one is 5 stars. The Batista one is 4 starts if you like Batista, which I do. The n.W.o. one is 2 stars if I'm being generous. The documentary is poor and n.W.o. matches with dusty finishes get old quick.

Both Rey Mysterio DVDs are fan-fucking-tastic because they're full of Rey Mysterio matches. I wholeheartedly recommend them both. The Batista DVD, I've barely touched. The nWo one is one that even I wouldn't touch with a bargepole - that's Jake's job.

You're Next is mildly amusing. But mostly it's the bit in the woods From Cabin In The Woods. Y'know, the bits you forgot.

In the moment, yes. I've never bothered with those Insidious/Paranormal Activity films so it was fairly new to me.

Also, I have a film degree, so I appreciated the sound.

Expect it to go to a 3 if I ever see it again. And generally ignore my list. I just bang 3 star films in there anywhere.

The first half was tremendously slow but I get they were building to the REVEAL and shit.

Flight is a flick I must download.
