Sam's Thread of Chattin' w/ Jake & Other Robust Subjects

I'll go find Jonny B. It'll be like a Michael Bay movie where he's getting drunk in a bar somewhere and the locals are all, "Hey Jonny, why don't you tell everyone how you were once the best admin this side of Tennessee?" They all burst into laughter at his supposed tall tales. And then I come in and they're all like, "Oh shit, it's WrestleZone forums veteran Uncle Sam. Maybe Jonny was telling the truth." And then-- and then-- the bar explodes.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Don't forget that all the people who doubted him would either be dead or saved by him despite the fact that they mocked him.

  1. The Fighter
  2. Black Swan
  3. Source Code
  4. The King's Speech
  5. Rango
  6. 127 Hours
  7. True Grit

Not sure whether the ending of Source Code made it better or worse. Duncan Jones, you're alright. Preferred Moon though.

Source Code, good little film...until the final 5 minutes or so. Michelle Monaghan looks like Michael Jackson, distracting it is.

I saw her tits in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, they were awesome. I do know what you mean though, Jake, she does have a little bit of a Michael Jackson vibe going on. I don't know if I'll ever be able to look at her the same way again.

And I liked Moon just fine, but I can dig what Barbosa is saying. The twist is good, but not as mind boggling as they were building it up to be.

I did think she had a bit of an odd look about her, yeah. I liked Jeffrey Wright's creepy intonation. I've got phone calls off people like that.

With Sam and Jake giving the flick their endorsement, I might have to see it now. Seems like there's a lot of movies out right now that I really want to see. Source Code, Arthur (don't judge me), Your Highness, Super, Of God and Men... I better start making some more money if I want to see all these films.

Advertising money isn't currently being spent on making sure I know about some of those films, so I don't know about some of those films.

Yeah, I didn't know about Of God and Men, but as a film major I'm surrounded by film nerds who hear about these things.

Was the "twist" in Moon supposed to be mind boggling? I'm having trouble getting there and I reckon neither the pod nor the rover are equipped to take me all the way.

My intro film studies course is a joke of an elective. As such, there's a serious nerd shortage. Major frat surplus though. Very intimidating.

They try but I don't succumb to their influence. I'm sure they know why. So humiliating. Mark my words: One of these days, that temporary HBK tattoo will fade.

It's not even the twist itself that is a bit of a letdown, it's just the way they deliver it. Perhaps if I watched the movie through again I'd feel more emotion, but Sam Rockwell didn't really sell it to me.

Every film class I've ever taken (and I've taken quite a few) has been riddled with nerds. In fact, they're almost exclusively made up of film nerds

I do a film studies course with people who haven't seen Taxi Driver/Pulp Fiction/The Godfather etc. It's also taken by lecturers who haven't seen any new films since U-Turn. Save your time, Sam.

I've got a GCSE in Media Studies. I refer to it on a weekly basis. I'd say I use it more than I use biology but less than I use Electronics.
