Sam's Thread of Chattin' w/ Jake & Other Robust Subjects

Paul W. S. Anderson, who directed a frankly-not-as-bad-as-some Alien movie. You'd pay to have the three star in some sort of goofball comedy, like The Darjeeling Limited - or Three Men and a Movie.

Oh come on now, Alien vs. Predator was absolute shit. Laughably bad. Every other Alien film is leagues above it, even 3 and Resurrection. When the Predator and human start working together like it's a wacky buddy cop movie and straight up tease a romantic kiss, you know you have no fucking idea who your audience is.

And yes Jake, I still smoke the ganja. Likely will until the day I die too.

AVP knows what it's going for, which is more than I can say for Resurrection, Prometheus or whatever they called the second AVP. It's definitely in the one fifth of his films that aren't absolutely unbearable. Event Horizon gets a pass because of its interpretation of hell.

AvP is a masterpiece when compared to Requiem. No idea who thought that Xeno's and Predators were in the same league anyway.

Drugs are for mugs, X. Apart from painkillers. They're always fun.

I remember being exceedingly pumped for Requiem, because the property had so much promise for them to fuck it up so badly with the first one....SURELY, they would right wrongs with this episode....

I came out sounding like the gal on the Prometheus trailer

"WE WERE WRONG....WE WERE SO WRONG...."

The abrupt death of the love interest in Requiem is easily the highlight.

I'm yet to find something that helps numb the pain. Well, except for the antidepressants. They were super at the start.

Surely you two will be seeing Chappie soon, yea?

My wife has zero understanding why it holds such appeal for me.

Clearly she was unaffected by the "Short-Circuit" franchise as a child.

I'd laugh but several friends of mine have died from ODing on painkillers in the last year, so, yeah. I'll just make things awkward instead.

I remember standing up in the theater after seeing AVP and just saying to myself "How could they fuck this up?". Even at the age of fourteen I knew it was shit.

And yes, fucking tinypic and their URL reusing. Not a bad replacement image though.

You too? Man my homie and I were absolutely stoked for AVP, and then it sucked and it's never been discussed since nor has it been rewatched ever.

I mean, I got in for free because I worked for the theater, but I still felt ripped off.

I'd consider The Tale of Princess Kaguya but the last Studio Ghibli film I watched bored me to tears. It's just a bit of a drought until blockbuster season, I suppose. Furious 7 just around the corner!

Oh, that looked quite good actually. I just googled it and don't recognise the address of the nearest place it's playing. That's all of that story.

Watched Frozen this morning and didn't completely hate it.

Thought it was funny that the lass sings Let It Go between being a shut-in at a castle and then buggering off to do a Dr Manhattan with snow. Hardly a massive change for such an empowering track.

I would say going from never using you ability to make ice, to making an entire palace out of ice in a permanent winter was a pretty big deal.

So which of you is going to be the first to step up and and destroy a certain argument which was recently rendered useless involving Rey Mysterio.

Act like you weren't thinking of it already.
