Royal Rumble 2013 Live Discussion - Jan. 27, 2013

Not really.

CM Punk gets beat with a 30+ minute wrestling match that included a Rock Bottom through the table (albeit botched), a Rock Bottom on the outside, 2 Peoples Elbows, etc.

Oh, and the guy delivering them is one of the 5 greatest wrestlers in WWE history.
There you go, no need for arguably.

My guess is Rock/Cena/Punk will headline Wrestlemania.

Give an out for Rock's ego/fans when Cena wins and level the record to 1-1.
Give an out to Punk's fan for him not being pinned by the winner.

That's not the point.

The match itself had everything it needed to have. But the ending lacked some big impact move like The Rock's own Rock Bottom. It would make sense and ending it in a better fashion.

People's Elbow has been used to beat everyone in the past, he even beat Cena with that on Wrestlemania (I'm trying to remember it but I'm not sure). I just think that Punk reign ending with that move altough the match had everything seems strange.

I agree, look at my sig, and you will see The Rock in my personal top five, but my point is, if it was Cena, or Rock, or Austin, or Hogan, or HBK, or HHH, or Taker, or any number of other Top Guys, it would have taken all of what you described and then more. You would have seen them kick out of the people's elbow, and have to have Rock do at least another Rock Bottom to win. I guess it is just me, but the way they had Punk lose tonight, just made him look bad in my opinion.

It took 3 Rock Bottoms in a row for the Rock to put away Stone Cold. If something that over the top had happened I would have thought it was weird. Since it didn't I don't really understand the problem.

Let me see if I can get in on what appears to be a Most Cuntiest Comment competition.

I can't believe WWE is going with that color scheme for WM29. I'm so not going to watch.

*****!

RIP CM Punk's awesome title reign. I don't appreciate the Rock getting the strap but who else currently is big enough to take the title of Punk? No-one is bigger than the Rock right now.

It was an awesome PPV. Doesn't mean WWE can't fuck up booking, and have a shitty, shitty ending to a main event.

Good thing they didn't have a shitty ending.

They spiced up what was a predictable ending to make it more entertaining even though the winner was exactly who everyone called 6 months ago.

Exactly. It took 2 Tombstone Piledrivers to put away HBK at Mania 25 as well. I would think of more examples as well if I wasn't so tired. The point is, that is the kind of respect that Top Guys get, where they get beat up all match, maybe put through a table, and yet it still takes an incredible amount of punishment to put them away at the end. The fact that it took just a simple People's Elbow to put away Punk at the end has me perturbed, and it was a shit ending to an otherwise awesome PPV.

So here's what I got from that match.

1.) The Shield stipulation was completely worthless.

2.) The first finish was completely worthless.

3.) They think The Rock is good enough to win the belt, but not good enough to win it clean.

1) No it wasnt. It showed Rock was the super-babyface & will triumph over evil.

2) It gives CM Punk the ability to continue to deny the Shield being on his side & say how it was wrong to re-start the match.

3) Spinebuster. People's Elbow. Pin. That is what you call a clean pin.

4) A R M B A R ! !

5) You are not smart at this.

I'm not upset really. I would have preferred Punk kick out of the elbow and get beat by the Rock Bottom, but I can't really complain. Punk had to drop the title eventually, I'd rather it be an all time great in The Rock than him dropping it to an unproven up and comer. Kofi got two eliminations and had another fantastic save in the Rumble. I fully believe he can be a certified main eventer one day. Team Hell No had a fun little spot. The surprise returns were good. Del Rio/Show was solid, the finish was great. I dislike Cena as much as the next guy, but I don't complain over him being where he is. He works his ass off for the company and is the biggest draw in the business. You hitch your wagon to him and let him go.

I don't know why people are angry over the Rock winning. We all knew he made a full time comeback for three months to win the belt. All of a sudden everyone hates the Rock because its the "cool" thing to do? CM Punk had a great run and who better to end it than the Rock. Get over it.

1) That doesn't make any sense, considering it was McMahon who restarted the match and The Rock lost to evil before hand.

2) I won't argue with that. Just think it could of been handled better.

3) Right. So why couldn't they have just done that in the first place?

Glad to see i am not the only one that wanted at least one more "Rock Bottom" at the end and not "Peoples Elbow" :lmao:

Good show overall. Kinda predictable because after the Shield wasnt in the Mania knew that they were to interfere somehow and giving the Rumble to Cena(who was biggest favorite because we kinda knew he would somehow be involved in WC title match and this was logical for that) was, well, little over the top. They could shake a little things up but i guess its logical way to do it. But it was very good Rumble match and Punk/Rock didnt dissapoint except that ending who could be better.

And that pop for Jericho, worth of watching just for that. :)

I agree that this will be the mainevent... but if you're going to REALLY put Punk over... you make him the winner over Cena/Rock at the biggest stage of them all.. I would totally buy that!

No no, it was still a shitty ending.

Overcomplicated the booking way too much. Really poor.
