Royal Rumble 2009 Match

The Royal Rumble is, in my opinion, the most exciting pay-per-view of the year. This year especially. It's been built up pretty well and there isn't one guy who you know is going to win the whole thing.

For Raw, I think the superstars most likely to win would be Jericho, Orton, HBK, or Batista coming in as a suprise. Similar to what Cena did last year. Jericho winning wouldn't be that huge of a shocker, but it would be suprising enough. I personally think he has the best chance of winning it for Raw. I don't want Orton to win the Rumble. His storyline is too entertaining to put the title in the middle of it, as I think that wouldn't do much for the storyline. For HBK to win, it would have to go like this. He screws Cena out of a win and helps JBL. Then when the 30th entrant is announced, it's Shawn Michaels, The more I think about that idea, hte more I like it. Now I know they said Batista is going to be out way past Wrestlemania, but didn't they say that about Cena last year too? So, as far as I'm concerned, the WWE has lost my trust. I don't believe them anymore.

For Smackdown, I think the superstars most likely to win would be Undertaker, a semi-surprise; Jeff Hardy, coming in after losing the championship to Edge; Christian, returning; or HHH, being related to the boss and all. I don't really know about Christian because nothing has been confirmed so far. And these days, nothing is secret. If Undertaker were to win, it would be kind of a suprise and kind of not. But I don't expect him to win. I'm pretty sure Edge is going to beat Hardy for the title. So, it wouldn't be a suprise for Hardy to win a chance at the title again, although it would kind of be a waste. I think HHH has the best chance to win the Rumble for Smackdown. He's always in the main event, and if he's not for WrestleMania, I would be very suprised.

I think the punt from this past Monday puts Randy Orton in a weird spot for this match. I think he is as close to a favorite as you can have in the Royal Rumble. But, after kicking Mr. McMahon, I think that he is going to get screwed out of his victory. I can see him coming out this Monday during Raw and doing his cocky Randy Orton bragging about winning and how he is going to take the title at Wrestlemania. Then, Stephanie comes out and takes away his victory for some bullshit reason, but in reality its in revenge. It will then get awarded to the last man in besides him. I'd look for Triple H or the Undertaker to get it if this happens, due to both of them getting mini-pushes about the Rumble on SmackDown the last couple weeks.

Or going on a long shot. Austin is in the rumble as JR says he isn't wrestling anymore to many times I call BS. He wins just say and goes on to challenge Cena. That match would be HUGE! I still agree with Batista coming back too.

I just had another thought. Here me out. Im not saying its likely but hear me out. Ok last year at NWO Floyd Mayweather made an appearance and then sub main evented WM. What if and I say BIG if that they get Brock Lesnar from UFC to make an appearance as a Rumble entrant. Im saying one of the 7 Mystery entrants and not even winning but just to make an appearance. IDK if this is even possible with his current contract, but it could be the start of something..........

first of all, i highly doubt that happens at least tomorrow night. i never thought of that and now that i do, i dont doubt brock wrestling a match at a future wrestlemania seeing how vince likes to bring people from outside to get media attention at the big event (donald trump, mayweather, etc.) plus he already knows the business obviously and we wont have to sit through donald punching vince (:lmao:) or mayweathers ridiculously horrible promos. Brock is becoming "the next big thing" (haha) in UFC and I can really see Vince calling his name at a future Mania (on a part-time deal of course) to get the medias attention and well....money.

GREAt point.

The Way I See It Is Orton, HHH, And Taker Are In The Final 5 Number 29 Shawn Micheals Will COme After Steph Rewards Him 4 Not Interfierng In Da World Title Macth 30th Will Be Da Aniaml Bastia Making His Return Elimanting Ortan But Also Goin Over Da Top Rope So HHH Ut And Hbk Are In The Ring A Sd! Performer Has 2 Win Cause Of The Ec 4 Da Wwe Title Not A Title Shot But Hbk Elimantes HH And Its Once Again Taker And Shawn Both Go Over At Da SAme Time And Both Win End Of Disscon

My point if it brings WWE, UFC and Lesnar a nice amount of money (he may be more willing now that his wife is pregnant) and it gives all 3 great media coverage, I dont see a reason for him not to do it sometime.

For the Lesnar thing I am glad you see the point. Bottom line if it makes WWE, UFC and Lesnar money they will do it. Esp now that Brocks gonna be a dad soon..

I'm glad some people agree with my theory that Batista may come back.

I see two options here and I don't like neither of them.

The options I think are clear, or it will be Triple H or it will be Randy Orton. Triple H will be on the main-event of Wrestlemania, so I don't know if its by winning a Chamber match or by winning the Rumble.

Orton, I'm not sure if he will headline Wrestlemania, but he is the second choice to win the Rumble, he needs this push to make him the top face of the company once again, and he deserves it, he is being pushed with a great angle and I believe he has the quality and the talent to go with it.

But, I don't like both of the options, I believe that some surprise would be fantastic, like you can see I "mark out" for Christian Cage so I would mark if he was number 30 and won it to fight Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania, altough I think that Jeff Hardy vs. Christian wouldn't draw enough, so add Edge to the match and it sure would draw, but Triple H wont let him out of the SmackDown! main-event....

How about Rob Van Dam returning at the Rumble and winning it. He could then challenge for the ECW title and raise its profile (no brainer in which title means the most to RVD) and also leave the WWE and WHC contenders to be decided in the elimination chambers next month. He's a big enough name to carry a 'Mania main event and on past evidence the Rumble winner hasn't wrestled the final main event in a while anyway. Swagger could retain til WMXXV and present us with a rivalry similar to RVD/Lesnar from a few years ago.

I'm going to say Orton wins tonight. Why? Well, hear me out. Everyone knows Orton is one of the best heels in recent memory, and more than capable of headlining WrestleMania. But, if Orton won, he could go on to face Cena at WM25 for the WHC, which in fantastic. We can get a great match that the fans will really be into, while having a clear cut face on Cena, and a clear cut heel in Orton (although he'll probably get cheered more). But storyline wise, you could have Vince side with Cena in his corner to get revenge on Orton, and you could get Steph to side with Orton. Why? Storyline wise, Steph could say that she's glad her dad is out of the picture so she can run RAW, and sides with Orton because he punted Vince. Steph is 2nd generation, so she fits into Legacy. There is your winner. I thank you very much.

I agree he is a great heel. I have two things.

1 I believe its way to obvious that hes going to win, so he probably wont as WWE is throwing way to many curve balls lately which i love btw.

2nd how is it fantastic? I dont get it. We've seen a match between these two pushed so much 3 times already. Its a repeat. Its not fresh. It wont draw cause even the average wrestling fan in fact them more so then the more die hard fan is going to say what the hell I've already seen this a couple of times already.

Personally I'd love to see Edge and Taker HIAC 2, BUT I know its over with as its come and gone, and I respect and understand that it wouldnt draw people again. Same goes with Orton and Cena.

While I love your idea something tells me WWE creative isn't that smart. I would like to say RVD back in the ring in the WWE competing for a top spot. ECW is a develepmental brand and needs all the help they can get. RVD will raise the profile in the ECW and it's ratings. I don't see this happening but it doesn't mean I wouldn't like it to happen.

It's been pushed, but not as successfully as it could be now. If they begun this fued again, which admittedly could be stale because it has been done 3 times before, so I understand your view there, but there are more elements now. You can factor in Legacy, the angle with Vince McMahon, and Steph. Couple all of them together and you could have 3 months of fantastic storylines, with huge twists and turns that no other fued on RAW could have. Everything is set in place.

Looking at it sadly this is the only thing "fresh" (the whole legacy and Mcmahon angle) that Raw has going for it right now. This years wrestlemania IMO is going to suck, unless they can get Austin to face Cena or Orton, and for SD they do Edge vs Christian vs Hardy vs Hardy.

Well, when plans were for HHH entering at number one, I felt he would go from start to finish, but get screwed by Legacy or something to hand Orton a victory, cos they COULDN'T of had him go from number one to winner, the internet fans would not stand for it. So he is now apparantly not number one, which makes me feel that he is going to win it.

Let's face it, he is always going to be made to look like the best participant and lose narrowly or win the whole thing. Please prove me wrong WWE.

I would LOVE to see Festus just annihilate everyone in the royal rumble. Not win it but clear it out early on until the next entrant grabs a bell. :bringit:

My prediction for a winner is: The Undertaker.

This can be a way to put him on raw where there's some fresh feuds for him.

If RVD makes a surprise appearance in the rumble I might actually feel the money I spend on the ppv will be justified.

ENJOY!!!!

My thoughts exactly!

Orton can win, but face Edge (if Edge wins the Championship). Remember the RR winner can pick any title, BUT this would kill the Orton/McMahon feud. Have the winner of SD's elimination chamber (if he doesnt win the rr, the winners gonna be HHH again like last year) and face Cena or JBL, or if HHH deff wins face JBL and HBK (assuming JBL wins the title). Hardy and Christian can have their feud match at WM. This could be ANOTHER route WWE could go, and it seems pretty fresh. However I dont see Orton or HHH winning still as they are both the obvious picks and I think there going to surprise us again.

I'll give the WWE credit for really making us think this year, and will give ultimate props if the winner isnt Orton or HHH.

I can tell you right now, BATISTA ISNT GONNA WIN! Everyone who says that is an idiot. It would be a lame repeat if last year when Cena won. Plus he is supposed to be hurt and Batista recently won it. Would it be surprising? Yes. But it would be pointless and already used last year.

The only way i could see Orton win is if it's get implemented into is storyline with the Mcmahon.

Let me explain the idea. You could have Orton win the rumble match only to get strip of the title match on Raw tomorrow night as a punishement for what he did to Vince. Then you could have the final 6 guys fight to determine who get Orton'S title match at wrestlemania.

Outside of this scenario, i don'T see Orton winning tonight, first because it's to obvious and second because they don'T trust Orton in a one on one main event match at wrestlemania. He'S been put in the position twice already and both time, they had to have a third guy inserted just to make sure that they had enough star power to make the match memerable. Last year they had the Orton vs Cena main event planned and change it a day after the royal rumble because they weren't sure it would draw enough. So what would this year be any different. My take is that either HHH wins this or one of the surprised entrant wins it.

I see Y2J winning The Royal Rumble I mean its the last thing he has to do beside Orton will most likely be teaming up with Shane to take on Vince and Step beside

But my favorite thing about the Rumble are the shocking entry the possible are unlimited it could go from Cowboy Orton to low ki

Every year about 20-25 wrestlers are announced as Royal Rumble participants, but a few spots are always left over for surprise entrants. This year 23 spots have been announced, and a 24th has been practically confirmed on many wrestling sites. Since we know who 24 of the 30 wrestlers will be, so who else do you think will be in the match?

I think it will be:

MVP
Tommy Dreamer
Mike Knox
Goldust
William Regal
Umaga

or a possible big surprise instead of one of these 6.....Mickey Rourke

Wow we start with seeing Taker and HBK so that'll prob happen at WM!!

Just finished the Hardy and Edge match.

The RR winner will be Christian. At WM we will get Hardy vs Hardy and Edge vs Christian, or Edge and Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy and Christian. This means Undertaker will win the EC and have the title if they do the tag team match and he will face Michaels!!

UNBELIEVABLE! We get to see Cena and Orton for the 5th time! Unless he gets kicked off of raw and goes after Edge.
