[Official] ROH Thread

Well I've just order my first ROH DVDS, I got four of them, The Best of Generation Next: Our Time Is Now (Alex Shelley, Austin Areis, and Matt Sydel, I love all three of these guys so this ones got to be good), Good Times Great Memories- Chicago Ridge IL 4/28/07 (I saw that it had the Briscoes vs. MCMG so I had to get that one), then i got a couple of the Straight Shootin' DVDs, Straight Shootin' with Jim Mitchell, and Straight Shootin' with CM Punk & Samoa Joe, and RVDgurl, if I like this ones, which I probably will, then you can rest assured that with my next order that I'll be ordering the show you just went to, the one with the Philly street fight that was better than any ECW match, I still can't believe you said that, lol

Justin, you will love your DVD's- I personally guarantee it. The Gen Next DVD will probably be completely sick as Austin Aries is phenomenal. I have the Straight Shootin w/ Jim Mitchell DVD- You will not believe some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth.

Okay ROH fans, I need help. Does anyone know the name/artist of Nigel McGuinness's current theme music. It is driving me crazy! Secondly, I attended the ROH show in Philly this weekend with RVDgurl and it was better than any ECW show i have ever seen. There was a guy there doing a documentary for a cable TV show, and at first he was just a "camera guy" doing his job. By the second or third match he was so intensely hooked it was awesome. Matt Cross is a maniac. Sabu fans would love him. The Briscoes showed that they are as talented in singles action as they are in tag team bouts. This was the best booking I have ever seen!

Nigel McGuinness's entrance music is called "Fucking in the Bushes" by Oasis. Hope that helped.

I have to say that ROH is an amazing promotion that gave me goosebumps when i attended. It remind me to old ECW...I went to the philly show my first ROH show ever, let me tell you im HOOKED UP ON IT! I really love when the shut the lights off and the countdown starts and BOOM Briscoes music hits people go nuts. People banging the signs that was kool and a funny thing that happen was when Chris Hero came out of the ring people started chanting HEERROOO! (In a gay way)....Love ROH 4 Life! BTW Generico and Steen are kool as hell!

I've seen some of Jim Mitchells shoots before, mostly from the Forever Hardcore documentry, and I though those were great, so I had to grab that one, and I agree Aries is great, he's the biggest reason I got that one, I question I have is why don't they have best of DVDs for Senshi/Low Ki, or Austin Aries (I mean of just him), I( can't wait till they show up, I going to have a ROHfest when they get here:)

I've seen clips of the Samoa Joe/Punk shoot, soon I'm going to get that DVD, and the Homicide story is absolutely hilarious. There is a good Corino one there also, but the Homicide one is epic.

My first ROH show live was The Homecoming in Philly in 2005. I'd been hooked on ROH since it first started in 2002, but being in high school and having a job, it was hard to get around to Philly or Boston from VA. Finally, after I joined the Marines and moved out, I flew home to Virginia and me and my crew took a little road trip up to Philly to watch Punk defend his title against Christopher Daniels in what was supposed to be his last title defense before moving on to WWE. I knew it'd be a good match, but I didn't expect it to be the homerun that it was. For the sixty minutes that these guys gave the Philly crowd that night and after the energy of the crowd and their heat on Punk (I mean, seriously... they booed with every single Punk move and popped like crazy for every single Daniels move... for sixty freaking minutes!) I was sure I had witnessed a classic. But I've never heard ANYONE talk about that match... surprising to me really, but maybe it's because it was live. I thought that match had all the makings of an all-around fantastic wrestling match, right down to the finish. If you have seen this match, I'd love to hear your input, because I think this is one of the most underrated matches in ROH history.

I own the Best Of Austin Aries DVD so just look a little harder on the website as it should be there. I would love to see the best of Low Ki. Maybe there is none because he really didn't work there for all that long. Regardless, I'm sure that there is enough to put together a nice little DVD. There is a tremendous match between Low Ki and Bryan Danielson on the Best Of Danielson's DVD. If you're a Low Ki fan you'll want to check out that match.

This is one of my favorite ROH matches of all time, past or present. You are a goddess just for mentioning it. I'm also still looking for someone to reply to my previous post about the punk/daniels match. Any takers?

Ok, I am completely intrigued as I have never seen this match! I will definately put it on my "to do list"- I'm a fan of both guys so I'm sure that the match was stellar.

Where can I find this match, I just searched Youtube and didn't see it there, if some one finds it then post a link, and RVDgurl, that Low Ki/Danielson Match you were talking about earlier, I'd love to see that one too, so if you (or anyone else) got a link then please post it

I first saw the Danielson/Low-Ki match for the first time after downloading it off of Kazaa (yeah... old-school filesharing...) so I know it's out there on p2p if you look hard enough. I'd just buy the DVD though. It happened at The Round Robin Challenge 2002. If you get the DVD, you'll also get Daniels/Danielson and Low-Ki/Daniels. A great buy.
It's also included on the World's Finest: Best of Bryan Danielson DVD. This one also has his classic 30 minute Iron Man Match against Doug Williams. Those two matches make the DVD worth the buy.
As for the Punk/Daniels match, you can get that on The Homecoming. As if that match wasn't enough to rate the price of the DVD alone, you get Styles/Rave in a Philly Street Fight, Spanky/Nigel/Deranged/Azriel in a Survival, Joe/Gibson/Lethal vs. Low-Ki/Homicide/Reyes, and a slew of other great matches. Heck... get all three!
(Wow... I seriously just sounded like an ad... lol, what can I say, I'm an ROH diehard!)

RVDGurl, when you see the Punk/Daniels match, lemme know cuz I have been dying to talk about this match with someone for the past two years!

Man, Low Ki is one of my favourite all time talents. His stuff in Japan as well as ROH and (sigh) TNA is amazing. I've got to see that Punk/Daniels match. I saw Punk sign the contract on the belt and if that's anything like the heat he gets in the match it must be good. I'm gonna go see what ROH DVDs there are available on A-Merchandise.com.

Let's just say this:
Punk wrestling superface (at the time) Christopher Daniels in front of a rabid PHILLY crowd (some toting porfolio binders and waving them at Punk to mock his WWE signing) with the ROH Title (that he was threatening to take to WWE with him) on the line... at an event called "The Homecoming" nonetheless! It rivaled the experience of seeing the 100th Show in person and witnessing the CZW vs. ROH Six Man War, and that's saying a lot because they had to escort several fans out of the building (some ROH fans got into it with some of the CZW fans).
As for Low-Ki, I agree. His match with A.J. in Zero-One was insane, as well as his tag match with his dream partner Keiji Muto. Forget who they faced, I know one of them was Josh Daniels (who is also extremely underrated)...

I have searched and searched the internet for this match and I can't find it! Maybe it's because I'm not exactly internet saavy. Do you have a link for it?? If not, I'm definately going to just order the entire DVD.

Nah, I haven't ever found the match online. I probably wouldn't have seen it had it not been live, since it doesn't get the rep that it really deserves. (as said before, one of the more underrated matches) But get it on DVD for sure. After talking about the match, I watched it again and wow. Just wow. It's a very different style match, way more old-school. More like something you would have seen out of Shane Douglas, Flair, or Steamboat back in the day. Very methodical. But that last twenty minutes it just kicks into overdrive and you realize that you are seeing a classic. The DVD is The Homecoming... it's freaking amazing. I'm a fan of the whole Punk saga with him winning the title and then going to WWE. He truly was a master at taking the crowd into the palm of his hand. If you want to see the story unfold between these two, I'd watch what happened between Punk and Daniels at The Battle Lines Are Drawn in January of 04, followed by the beginning of their title feud at Fate of an Angel. After that, you'd watch The Homecoming (Punk vs. Daniels), Redemption (Punk vs. Daniels vs. Gibson vs. Joe), and then Punk:The Final Chapter. So when it's said and done, the Daniels/Punk feud was over a year and a half in the making when the match actually took place If you watch those five DVDs in succession, I swear you will wonder what WWE creative is smoking up in those titan towers. These guys seriously capture you with this feud... and who woulda thought that you could center a feud around a world title and make it interesting? But I guess nobody told the WWE creative team that, did they?
Along with the Daniels/Punk saga, you'd get these quality matches with those DVDs:
Briscoes vs. Joe/Danielson
McGuiness vs. Cody Hawk (McGuiness' debut)
McGuiness vs. Claudio
Aries vs. Generico
Styles vs. Strong
M. Hardy vs. Daniels
Punk vs. Gibson
Aries/Strong/Sydal vs. Shelley/Rave/Abyss (freaking awesome)
M. Hardy vs. Homicide
Collyer vs. Steel (****)
Strong vs. M. Hardy
Yeah, so get those DVDS!!!!!
(OK, seriously... I need to stop sounding like a damn infomercial...)

Tell me how the Best Of Generation Next works out, I might be getting that soon. Still, I think I'd rather get the Best Of Austin Aries.

That is exciting news. Can't wait to hear what you think of the matches, although I know you will not be disappointed.

Make sure you let me know how the shoot w/ Punk & Joe is. I think that will be in my next order.

I'm watching Best of Gen Next right now, I'll be watching the Punk/Joe shoot next, then go to the other wrestling one, and close ROHfest with the Mitchell shoot, I don't think I'll get through all of them in one sitting I might stop after the first two so I can be weel rested for tomarrow, so far I'm loving this Gen Next DVD, thes guys are simply amazing, I've seen Aries, Strong and Shelley before, not not a whole lot of Jack Evens, and this kid knows how to fly, he does shit that has just shocked the hell out of me

Finished Best of Generation Next, and loved it, I'm looking forward to seeing more of those guys, especially like the Aries/Shelly confratation at the end of the DVD, all around great stuff, watching the Punk/Joe shoot right now, it's pretty good, I love both these guys, and there trilogy of matches were the first ROH matches I've ever seen, they actually start out the DVD explaing how they came up with the idea to do a one hour draw, pretty funny shit, appreantly they were sitting at a bar, and Joe was drunk, and they were jokeing around about the match and then Punk called the ROH and told them they were goingto do the Draw, the funniest part is this only gave Joe a week for cardio, there's all kinds of funny stories in this one, a good buy (as if a ROH dvd could ever be a bad buy, :icon_rolleyes: )

Tremendous. I've seen clips from the shoot and it looked funny. I can imagine that Punk and Joe are some funny dudes when they get together. I will definately be purchasing this DVD on my next order.

Ooh it's a goody, Punk just made fun of Triple H, andit was hilariaous, ROFLMAO!!!

Watching Good times Great Memories, Christopher Daniels cuts a great heel promo after his match, one of the best heel promos I've seen in a long time, I didn't realize that this was Cabana's farewell show, that's pretty badass, great matches so far, It started out with a six man scramble, which was funny, Delirious was one of the guys involved and when Mike Quackenbush got tagged in Delirious just start jumping up and down on the rope, "QUACK, QUACK, QUACK...!!!", I was LMAO, I have a feeling I'llbe spending alot of money on ROH dvds
