[Official] Chris Benoit Memorial Thread

the thing is, the police are assuming that is a double-muder suicide. as it does seem to be the most likely thing to have happened. however the autopsy has not been conducted yet. the autopsy may show that the family was suffering from a virus or other such thing. untill we know HOW they died we should not denounce benoit. also (as far as i can tell) we dont know when benoit and his family died it could have been any time between when benoit phoned the WWE saying that he couldn't make it to vengence to a couple of hours before he was found.

Nothing has been proven yet and anyone that goes around saying Baby killer or some variation of it gets banned as NOTHING has been proven yet!

The son could have gotten Meningitis and that was the family emergency, and then Benoits wife could have commited suicide. so when Benoit gets home and finds his Wife and son dead he commits suicide as well due to him being so distraught. It could have been Murder on all three counts. Those two are what I really hope happened even though I wish this entire event never occured.

As much as I'd like to agree with you. I don't remember anyone ever rooting for OJ Simpson during his trial. Or even AFTER he was proven innocent for that matter. So I don't see why I should give Chris Benoit the benefit of the doubt when all signs point to him murdering his family and killing himself.

If a bunch of news sites AS WELL AS the WWE website itself is posting those accusations...then they must be somewhat accurate. The WWE is not a news broadcast. They don't have to put up anything...especially with inaccuracies. So there must be a good amount of evidence stating this is what happened.

I was never a big fan of Benoit anyway, although that's irrelevant. I'm just saying. I'm not going to be bias towards him being innocent because I was a big fan. I wasn't. Although I thought he was extremely talented, I always thought his whole image and gimmick were incredibly boring. He lacked any real entertainment appeal outside of his skill.

I'm just stating what I know...what has been said...and what seems to be.

I did not see this post before I posted again, I apologize if mine was out of taste. I will watch what I say from now on. I wasn't saying anyone was a baby killer. I was just saying that nobody gave OJ Simpson the benefit of the doubt even after he was proven innocent...so why should we do the same for Benoit if all signs are pointing this way.

I apologize though and I won't say anything unless something new comes up.

Chris was a fantastic wrestler...he made watching the WWE worth while and I will surely miss watching an excellent performer.

Shadowmancer,

Not to be rude or anything but isn't this a Wrestlezone Message Board?? If you don't want us posting anything about Benoit being a murderer (which I won't) than why are the Wrestlezone guys posting it on their main website? There is a big huge update Titled "Breaking: Benoit Kills Family Over 3 Day Period" on Wrestlezone right now. We're only talking about what YOU guys are putting up on your site...as well as many other websites.

Just was wondering, take care.

He MURDERED two people...one being his own flesh and blood! The fact the you guys and the WWE are glorifying him shows that you all are living in some sick fantasy world.

The officers have said it was a double murder-suicide and that he killed her on Sat. and the boy on Sunday...don't think Menningitis had anything to do with this.

Maybe people shouldn't jump to conclusions yet...but you guys shouldn't be glorifying him either.

Good riddance Benoit!

how can he have killed his wife one day his the son the day after and then himself the day after that i find that very hard to belive. more likely that he came home to find his wife and son dead then offed himself

we are not gloryfying him we are showng RESPECT for his carear

IF he did murder Nancy and Daniel then yeah, I will dislike him for that but it still doesn't take away what he did for the business and the talent he had in the ring.

What is so confusing about it? It's clearly more likely he killed his family on seperate days (albeit, its strange) but its more likely than their son catching meningitis and dying immediately, then the wife killing herself and then chris benoit killing himself....ALL IN DIFFERENT ROOMS. I mean that is ridiculous.

But we don't know anything. I'm not going to be biased towards him because I was never a big fan to begin with. I just don't see why even after OJ was proven innocent (clearly guilty)...we can make judgments on him being guilty...but when all fingers point to Benoit killing everyone...we can't do that...even though this website (wrestlezone) are the ones providing us the information.

I'm pretty shocked at this. I feel really upset not only that he died but the entire circumstances where he killed his family and then himself. This can no way be linked to the deaths of eddie and owen, this is completely different. As much as a legend he was, you cannot excuse killing a 7 year old.

I hope to God that he didn't kill is family, I don't want this marring the life of one of the greatest wrestlers ever.

As a professional wrestler, the guy was an amazing. He was one of the greatest technical wrestlers I've had the joy of watching and I'm saddened that things have happened the way they have.

I see the post above me with the picture of Eddie and Chris hugging and it makes me smile. I'm hoping for him to be free of any wrong-doings because I'd like to believe he's up there with Eddie.

i must say that u've pretty muched pissed off the entire wrestling industry & the fans by saying that!!! how dare u come on this thread and post that rubbish!!! keep such thoughts to yourself! they are glorifying him because he was a true legend and his demise was so unexpected!! it was an incredible shock to me when i heard of his passing (honestly, my heart skipped a beat!) and i haven't been able to get it out of my mind.

Chris Benoit was, is & forever will be THE greatest technical wrestler to ever walk the earth! my deepest sympathies to the people that were close to him. we shall always remember him as a true legend. may he rest in peace!

Thank you, Chris.

Personally for myself i cant & will not believe Benoit could commit this sort of atrocity until it is 100% proven. I did not know Benoit @ all but he just does not seem like the kind of guy that could do something like this. Benoit as we all know was a great wrestler and it's a shame that when these guys pass that's when they get the recognition they truly deserved when they should have received it when they were around in the first place. Im just so glad that he got to win the title @wm 20 as i cant think of anyone else more deserving of a title win that Chris Benoit. You will be remembered no matter what happens as a true legend of the squared circle.

RIP Chris Benoit.

I loved chris the first time I saw him in the ECW. And followed him from WCW to WWE. Always put on a great show, and will be sorely missed. I must say though....

I do not believe its a double suicide homicide. Granted I havn't felt this way about a celebrity dying since kurt cobain, it just makes no god damn sense!!! he was about to be made ECW champion!!! yeah, its the C league right now, and I stopped watching it after 5 weeks, but this would have given me hope and turned it on. He had a great career, and obviously the WWE still thought high enough of him. He was 40. Hell, i'm sure he could have retired and lived happy.

Theres more here. There has to be.

if it was a double murder homicide, I still feel for him. I don't know what was wrong in his head, but help had to be there. Look at Dean melinko tonight, look at edge, HHH, so many others. He had people that loved him. Theres no way he did it

The WWE put on a 100% classy tribute for him tongight. Chris we'll miss you

May the benoits rest in peace.

Why is it so hard to believe he did it? It was confirmed it was a murder-suicide, and while nobody wants to believe a father would kill his own son, it is becoming apparent he did it. I loved watching him perform but apparently his personal life was out of whack. I feel for family he left behind, but while he was a great wrestler, i cannot admire someone who murders his family.

Im with you Zander, i will not let myself believe that Benoit would do such a thing unless evidence came out that proved 100% he did. There are millions of things that may have happened and, unless they find a note, we will never know exactly what happened. People in the WWE, freinds and family speak too highly of him for him to be capable of such things. Lets just hope that more information is released and Benoit is not as guilty as stories are suggesting.

Was Benoit a great wrestler? YES
Forgive me though for not thinking this guy deserved a 3hr tribute show. This is a man who killed his wife and his son, i will give WWE the benefit of the doubt that they were unaware of the circumstances. I would hope they would not have done this show if they were aware of what he did. I feel simpathy for all those affected by this even the other superstars, regardless of what Benoit did or did not do, he was obviously loved by his peers and they are in mourning not only for him but his family. A true friend stands up for his friend regardless of the circumstances, i just do not believe that a guy who commited a double murder, should receive a tribute show.

Bret Hart speaks on tragedy!

I don't believe this has been posted just yet!

http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/Alberta/2007/06/26/4290834-sun.html

Members of the Hart family wrestled with the sudden, tragic death of Chris Benoit yesterday.

Legendary wrestler Bret Hart had to stop and compose himself often when talking fondly of a man considered his brother and friend.

"I don't know the details, and I'm not sure I even want to know," said Hart, just hours after learning of the discovery of Benoit's body -- along with those of his wife and son -- in his suburban Atlanta home.

"He was like a family member to me, and everyone in my family is taking it real hard.

"It's almost like reliving the whole Owen (Hart) death over again."

At a young age, Benoit, an Edmonton native, became a standout among many wrestling prospects who trained in the famed 'dungeon' basement of the Hart family's home in Calgary.

"Chris was always one of the good guys -- a straight guy and a hard-working guy," Hart said.

"When you list off all the qualities of someone like Benoit, he had a lot of integrity and was a good, family man.

"He was really respected and really loved by everybody."

Bret's older brother Ross Hart, a producer and former part-time wrestler, further described the onetime 'Canadian Crippler' as respectful, polite and very humble.

"We kind of adopted him when he first broke into the business in 1986," said Ross, adding Benoit was a huge fan of Stampede Wrestling and idolized The Dynamite Kid.

He's been an outstanding mentor to the next generation of Hart family wrestlers, said Ross and Bret's sister Diana.

That's especially true of the last six months in Atlanta, where Harry Smith (son of the late Davey Boy Smith), Nattie Neidhart (daughter of Jim Neidhart), T.J. Wilson (Nattie Neidhart's fiance) and Ted Hart (Ross' nephew) had been training close to Benoit.

"My son Harry and the others have all been talking about all the great plans that were to come with Chris mentoring them," said Diana, the former wife of Davey Boy Smith.

Despite what may have happened (we will not know for SURE for awhile) Beniot was a great wrestler, he proved that you do not need to be great on the mic to get over, he got over by busting his ass in the ring and that is where he did his talking. The man gave 18 yrs of his life to wrestling and us as fans should give something back in the wake of his passing. I been watching him since his days in ECW until now. I been watching wrestling since I was 3, I am 23 now and when something like this happens I feel in a way that I have lost a friend, true fans may know what I am talking about. RIP Chris, and thank you , you will be missed.

I find it funny that because someone has an opinion opposing your own, you tell him to keep it to himself.

I agree with the poster. If, and most likely, what the news agencies are reporting is true, the guy is a scumbag. Plain and simple. I'm sorry if it offends some of you, but you just do not kill your wife and son. If it's true, I don't want to see him in the Hall of Fame. I don't want to see any respect shown towards him. And I'll think he's a tarnish on wrestling in general.

There is no excuse anyone can possibly ever give me to give the man sympathy. I give sympathy to Nancy and Daniel Benoit, but not Chris Benoit.

I don't understand why people are doubting that Chris Benoit killed his family and then himself.

He told the WWE that he couldn't make a pay per view in which he was going to win the ECW world heavyweight title because of personal family issues. That means he was either planning on killing his family or already had at this time. Nobody calls up their employer to tell them stuff like that knowing that THEY themselves are going to get killed instead. It's too connected.

In order to kill his family by poisoning them he either had to A.) tie them up and force them to drink it or B.) have a plan in the back of his head and trick his wife into drinking the poison willingly thinking it was a normal drink....then since his 7 year old son was so young...he wouldn't need to be convinced or anything...he could have just willingly taken it.

What I don't understand is that usually when people are poisoned there is vomit around the area...violent vommiting occurs. They would have reported the vomit and had a better idea if this were true. Rarely do you just drink poison and die immediately.

This is extremely weird.

Dont know if anyone has heard this yet, saw it on another thread. The latest rumor is that his wife killed there son which would explain his leaving for a family emergency. When he found out his wife killed their child, he flew off the deep end and killed his wife, then took his own life monday.

That's pretty far fetched. The autopsy reports will show the order of death. The last one living clearly the one who killed them. Or...if the son had died first...then that rumor rings true. If the wife was murdered first...then Benoit's legacy will forever be tainted.

Benoit's legacy as a wrestler will not be tainted. You cannot take away all the man has done for the world of professional wrestling. His influence, whether recognized or not, will ALWAYS be felt and known. As a man, if he did in fact kill his wife and 7 year old son, fuck him, let him burn, but, as a wrestler, a performer, and a sportsman, his legacy will always be what it is now
