NXT NWS - Announcement of the Winner
Ok, as if you all haven't had to wait long enough. I have some stuff to say.
First of all, I want to thank everyone for their participation and passion for this contest. It was a sudden idea I had in my car on the way to work. I've run some successful endeavors on Wrestlezone (The Music Tournament, the first half of the Wrestlezolympics) and had some abortions (the Game Show, the 2nd half of the music tournament.) So it was always gonna be interesting to see how this went.
This tournament also wasn't without its criticism from other moderators. Some felt it was a poor way to choose a mod. Some ignored it entirely. All were within their rights to do either or. But I do want to thank Sly for his blessing to run this, and KB and D-Man for their dedication and support as judges.
I also want to thank the pros. Many of them showed the same high levels of dedication that the rookies did. Of all the pros, however, I especially want to thank Tdigle for how hard he worked on mentoring his rookie in Numbers. You could tell they had a solid relationship and that TDigs truly believed in Numbers, which was proven right with his ride to the finals.
To our 3 finalists, I'm pissed at all three of you. You made this final decision damn near impossible. If Forrest Griffin vs Stephan Bonner were a triple threat, it would be this final round. Nobody ran away with it, not because of a lack of effort, but rather because everybody kept pace. I think it's safe to say that, even though I am sworn to announcing only one winner and one mod spot, many of the participants in this contest now find themselves on the "short list" for moderator spots. I'd not be surprised to see many of the participants from this contest who did not, in fact, win it to eventually come away with a spot.
So after several weeks, and literally thousands of posts (in a short time, in the NWS's!) and tens-of-thousands of views, we announce the winner and NEW non-wrestling section moderator...
To the two gentleman who did not win, there is really no 2nd place here. It's #1, #1a, and #1b. I won't say how voting went, but just that this was impossibly close and was accompanied by several of the non-judge mods asking about if all three of you could be declared winners. There is NO reason to feel you "came up short." You didn't. You showed amazing skill and heart and I thank you for your effort and dedication to these forums.
And with that, this highly successful contest come to an end. Will we ever see it again, this time as a wrestling event? Only time will tell...but safe to say we'll never have a Divas version...
