As for my thread, I got flustered because I thought I had a sure fire winner that would show everyone my posting skills and general knowledge in my section. When it got locked I paniced a bit and just threw something together that I thought might get alot of posts. Problem with it was that it didn't create any debate.

As for me in general I don't want to get eliminated because I think I could do wonders with the sports section. Most of my near 400 post are in there and I have quite a few ideas on things to do with it to improve it as a section. I was told by alot of people that the section was dead upon my arrival and look at it now. It's either the biggest or second biggest NWS depending on the day of the week.

Actually I'm not gonna lie. i didn't view the forum all day when threads were gonna go up. I got a little busy at work. But on way home I got on MSN and I asked someone if my NY sports thread would be a success... and they replied. Becker, you're a ******. Tenta already did that. I was like fuck... So Tenta we were thinking alike. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing?

I'm not sure, frankly. Who said it?

Nor am I, really. Who said that?

Who called me a ******? I'll give you a hint. It's right in front of your face. I'm not gonna lie, I had another sports thread in mind. But then I realized several people created em. So I got a little flustered. So I went to a section where a few people post. So in 5 days I created a thread with 45 or so posts and 1,250 views. Success baby!!!

Huh... Didn't know Ben Roethlisberger came on this site often. Must go by some weird name. I'm convinced it's Dissaray now.

The idea actually came from a segment on Colin Cowherd, really. Not sure why, but it just kind of stuck with me. In hindsight, I should have done something more like David's. But I went for the biggest, most polarizing market, one in which a good portion of American posters come from.

Except, you know, the Un-American posters

I liked your Culture Built on Agitation thread. too bad only two people replied to it.

One of them was me, so it's alllllllllll good.

Nope wasn't GD.

I'm glad I'm not in this, because I suck at coming up with new threads unless I have inspiration.

I love the atmosphere of Chicago. I'll take the 3rd largest market in the country over whatever Pittsburgh is. Better opportunity for jobs with recommendations from Chicago as well. ;)

I would reply to your threads Razor, if I had any knowledge of what the hell you're talking about. I think the only thread as of late I've been able to form some kind of opinion on was the alien one.

Yeah, I'm caught in a funk. I need to figure out how to make threads that I can boil stuff down to a general idea. It's how Congress manages to take a 1300 page law that regulates corporations to make sure they don't rape people and condenses it down to a few lines that say "Congress wants to rape your children." It's a convoluted issue, but they've got it down to a line that will get anyone talking.

Then again, I also refuse to post any of the topics that are already done. So homosexuality/abortion/same-sex marriage/is women actually ask to be raped by how they act/ are off limits.

Seriously though. That last one has always had me flustered. A woman's rape blamed on what she was wearing? That's slightly better than the Twinkie defense. But just barely.

It's all good. I'm not saying it's a wrong thing that you want to post threads that are actually interesting subjects in the Cigar Lounge. However I have very little, to any interest or knowledge of politics, and I believe I've seen some murder kind of threads you've made, which I had zero knowledge of either.

I think it's a shame that the Evolution vs Intelligent Design died down so quickly. That had to be probably my favorite Cigar Lounge thread for now.

I need to revive the Prop 8 thread. There's an interesting legal side that may make the case impossible to appeal for the proponents of Prop 8.

You see, the case before Walker was brought forth by two same-sex couples. They were suing against the law on basic equal protection grounds.

The defendants they named were Governor Schwarzenegger and State Attorney General Brown. They refused to defend the law, and the judge allowed another group (ProtectMarriage.com) to defend the law on behalf of the state of California.

However, the law was overturned. ProtectMarriage.com wants time to appeal to the Ninth Circuit.

....Only, the only people who can appeal the case are the plantiffs or the defendants. Once the Governor and the Attorney General refused to appeal, ProtectMarriage.com lost all right to defend the case even by proxy.

It's interesting. That means that the Prop 8 ruling may be forced to stand on Judge Walker's ruling alone. There is no way for it to be brought up to the Ninth Circuit or the Supreme Court without ProtectMarriage.com proving that they face irreparable harm if the judge's ruling is upheld without appeal.

It's brilliant legal maneuvering. Completely legal, and it puts the blame (or praise, however you look at it) on the California state government. It's....some of the best legal handling I've seen in a long time.
