NFL Wild Card Week LD

Fun to watch. I just feel bad for Detroit's offense. They probably need to look into getting a D-Coord this year, one who teaches tackling.

God fucking damn it. The Lions offense can score with anyone. Stafford is an elite quarterback and Calvin Johnson is without a doubt the best wide receiver in the NFL. The defense, however, really needs to get their shit together. The D line is really good, the linebackers are just ok, and the secondary is fucking atrocious. They have no number one corner and only one safety capable of starting full time. They need to draft a corner in the first round and also add some veterans in free agency. The offense is almost perfectly fine and doesn't need anything but another OT to eventually replace Backus. With Best and Leshoure getting healthy they will have a much improved running game to make the offense even more dangerous.

Awesome 2nd half from the Saints. Just fucking awesome.

The Saints won this game for three reasons:

1. The running duo of Pierre Thomas/Darren Sproles.

2. Sean Payton's balls.

3. Detroit failing to capitalize on the Saints mistakes. Detroit had two dropped interceptions right in their hands, and they did not score on either forced fumble in the 1st half.

Detroit's the real deal, though. This team would have easily beaten both the Giants and Falcons, IMO. It's a shame they couldn't get that 5th Seed.

But yeah.... go Saints. I could not be happier right now, and let me say... I LOVE how we match-up against the 49ers. I strongly believe Detroit was a tougher test than what San Francisco will be.

That's what I'm talking about when I say the refs need to be held accountable. They have had 2 MAJOR blown calls against Detroit here and they will have to face absolutely zero consequences for it. What a sweet job it must be to be able to make an assload of mistakes with no repercussions?
You must be fucking stupid.

Actually, referees do have consequences for poor games. They get graded on every game, and only the top 4 crews from the regular season get to work the playoffs (and as such get paid more). And they do demote/cut officials that grade too low.

And by the way, NFL refereeing is a 2nd job, and an NFL official gets paid between 22,000 and 70,000 annually (and that's after spending years working towards that level getting paid MUCH, MUCH less). And it's not at all a sweet job. The fans expect the human officials to be perfect (humans aren't perfect, so to expect it is sad), and no matter what you do people hate you, and it goes as far as the occasional death threat. It's the exact OPPOSITE of sweet, actually. And don't get started on the glory, as it's generally regarded that the best officials are the anonymous ones. The only way you get any sort of notoriety is by having a bad call or being ripped like Ed Hochuli.

Oh, and back to the game... The Lions got pwned. They need to learn how to tackle, and they had no pass rush. And Drew Brees is a beast, and should win the MVP.

My picks for Sunday's games are the Steelers and the Giants. The more I think about it, the more I'm realizing Eli Manning is one of my favorite players to watch. I'm not sure why, but I love watching the guy play football.

Lions gave them a fight for about 3 quarters but the first pick Stafford threw pretty much killed any chance. Not that they had much of one then because the D couldn't buy a stop, but they had to keep matching up point for point. And if Aaron Berry or Eric Wright would've caught one of those picks that could've been huge. I'd say they were a year ahead of schedule, so like I said everything above a playoff berth was gravy.

Hopefully they go get some corners though. Berry and Wright blow, specifically.

Who's ready to witness one of the biggest upsets in NFL history today, followed by a week of nonstop Tebow ********ing from the media?

I sure as fuck am! :icon_razz:

Oh, and the Giants/Falcons game should be pretty kick ass, too.

I think that would be great, not that it matters much anyway, as the winner today gets bounced by the Patriots next week anyway :)

However, I see it more like this:

Steelers 24, Broncos 7

Falcons 21, Giants 17

I agree, but it will still be oh so sweet if the Broncos won today. I want this almost as bad as I wanted the Saints to win yesterday. And I really think they have a chance.

I think the Saints are going to the SuperBowl. Momentum is huge in the NFL and always has been.

Yep, New Orleans Saints versus New England Patriots. Sounds pretty good to me.

Hells fucking yes!

Tebow gonna beat the Steelers. Then the Patriots. Then the Ravens. Then the Saints. Yeah no, this won't happen. They can win 1 or even 2 games, but the Super Bowl is a bit of a stretch.

Nah, this game will suck. It'll suck major, major ass. Unless the Falcons win by 45 (which isn't impossible).

Now Stormy don't be all mad because big brother helped knock out little brother from the playoffs ;)

Every Patriots fan is vigourously rooting for Tebow today.

Why? The Steelers offense isn't looking all that spectacular right now, there #1 RB is done for the year, & their QB has one fucking leg. Sure the defense is still gonna be tough, but the Pats offense is has proven they can score on just about anyone at will. I don't think the Steelers are gonna be nearly as problematic for NE as people are trying to portray them.

Habs - Confident??? We're playing wide recievers in the secondary, and have given HUGE leads in the first quarter our last two games of the regular season. Pats don't come back from a 21 point deficit against a good team.
