I agree with Drew Brees having a huge performance against an awesome team, but due to Eli not playing the entire game, Drew beat a team that couldn't keep up with him. Therefore, i nominate DeAngelo Williams RB Carolina, for this weeks MVP award because if Williams hadn't had such a huge game the Panthers definitely would have lost. Sure it was not nearly as impressive a foe as the Unbeaten Giants, but Williams value carried the team. Turnovers in the air are killing the Panthers this season, but Williams has kept them in games and is scoring when it doesn't seem like anyone else can.

Tom Brady. Seriously, how can anyone not answer Tom Brady? The man threw 5 TDs in one quarter. You guys can say "Oh but it was against the Titans!", well, then why the fuck aren't Brees or Manning or any other QBs putting up those kinds of numbers against shitty teams like the Titans or the Raiders or Lions? Brees had a fantastic game, but Brady easily gets the nod for Week 6 MVP here. Come the fuck on the man threw 6 TD passes and led his team to the biggest romp in NFL history. He made it look so easy.

Come on man, Brady all the way here.

I'm not dissing Brady because he had a fantastic game, but the difference has to be in the team they played. Your right in that teams and QBs like Brees and Manning should be doing that but the Titans just didn't show up whatsoever. They flat out sucked big ones. No one on that team looked to put any true effort.

The Giants however had the best defense going into that game. 108yrds a game. How can you compare the Titans and Giants? One team flat out is not showing up. The other team was undefeated with the best D going into their game. And Brees made it look easy against that first ranked D. It has to be Brees.

And I would also say its an isult to compare the Lions with the Tiants. The Lions are at least trying to play to win. Can't say the same for the Titans.

The thing is X. You could've put Jamarcus Russell in there for the Pats and they still could've won 59-0. Drew Bress played the best defense in the league and made it look easy and they didnt really establish a run game either to help them out.

The reason I'm going with Brees over Brady is because Brady was playing scrub CBs in Mouton and some guy whose name slips my mind. Harper and Finnegan were both out. Don't get me wrong, an easy case can be made for Brady to be MVP this week, no doubt. But Brees played the best D in football and made them look terrible. He was just picking them apart left and right. However, Brees would be number 2 in my mind for season MVP behind Peyton Manning.

Oh come on now that's just ridiculous, Jamarcus Russell? No. Did you see that game? You think Russell is going to be making those pitch-perfect accurate throws downfield to Moss? Fuck no he isn't.

A lot of people are predicting my Niners to get beat by the Texans this sunday simply because the Texans have a good offense. Note I said good, not great. They have a pourous defense and get this, the Texans are not only 1-2 at home, they have not won or lost 2 straight games yet. The Niners are coming off a bye and will NOT play as a badly as they did against Atlanta...while our offense is still mediocre our defense is improving. In fact give our defense some time and we can finally become the talented defense that we have shown early in the season. I predict the Niners to edge out the Texans 23-20 this sunday.

According to almost every media outlet available, Jim Zorn has gotten a vote of confidence from the owners, saying he'll be the coach until at least the end of the season...This makes me scratch my head. How does he deserve this?

They have yet to face a team with a win on their record, and of their past opponents, only the Giants have beaten anyone not named the Redskins. He should be fired already, and the team should start looking at other options at QB before the end of this season. Playing in the toughest division in football, they can't afford an extended rebuilding process. They need to get that organization straightened out quickly...

Not just that, but you're facing one of the worst Rush Defenses in the league and getting back Frank Gore. I'm not saying the Niner's are gonna win, but I will say the Texans aren't going to roll over them as easily as many assume.

If the Niner's work out a plan on how to stop Andre Johnson & Owen Daniels, then I doubt that Texans offense does anything worth mentioning. Steve Slaton is a good back, possibly borderline great depending on the match-up. Unfortunately, this isn't a good match-up. The Niner's more or less held Peterson in check. Slaton will only get a good game, if the Niner's fear the pass more than they should.

I still predict a 24-17, Texans victory though. Frank Gore should go over 150 yds, however, and Crabtree will find the endzone off either an end-around, or some type of trick play.

This is more or less the Redskins saying their season is over. Zorn simply is a failure as head coach. The players don't respond to him at all and given the money they've put into this team, that's not saying a lot at all. This team is in disarray and in need of leadership. Snyder runs the team. The problem is that he's not very good at it and it makes the coach look weak. How can the team get behind a coach when the owner is always overriding him? It's not going to work, so they're just going to let it continue instead of seeing what they have to work with. That's just bad ownership and it's the reason why the team isn't worth much at all. They're average and that's all they'll be until a big change is made.

And when you are winning by 59 points, you don't go for it on 4th and 7 from the opponents 11 yard line, unless you are running up the score. New England went for it, therefore, they were running up the score.

I don't agree with this. I get that throwing and keeping your starters in when you're winning 45-0 is a bit much, but it wasn't even half time. Normally, no team pulls their starters before half time because its just not common enough to have to.

As for going for it on 4th down, thats the part I really don't agree with. What would you have rather they did? Downed the ball and turned it over like that? Kicked a FG and in the end put up over 60 pts? As Xfear mentioned, they were giving Tennessee the chance to stop them.. and more importantly, they weren't intentionally going for the easy points on the board.. so much as trying to get a 1st down and continuing to run out that clock.

Everyone logically knew when Tennessee would've got the ball back, they'd air it out to attempt getting anything on the board. All New England was trying to do, was play ball control and keep it, and the clock, on their side.

It wasn't anymore of an underhanded tactic than what Sean Payton did to, if I recall the Cowboys, a year or two back when he intentionally had his team run it down to within 5 yds of a TD and then downed the ball 4 times and turned it over to them on their own 4 or 5 yd line.. making them have to march over 90 yds just to get anything and risk taking a safety on top of that.

I know this is veering a little off topic, but bear with me.

No team can look like a real competitor with the owner calling every shot. Dallas has had this problem for a while, and it only let up when Parcells was in town, and that's because he's Bill frickin' Parcells. Jones has made a habit of going for the players he wants, not the players he needs, and it loads the team up in the wrong positions. They're just a small example of this.

Oakland is perhaps the best example to put out there. Al Davis continuously tries to bury that team, and somehow, they won't die. Even when they rattle off losses like they have, and get the shitty wins they've managed, they won't go away.

Washington needs to take a lesson from these teams, and change that path. They'll either continue to be a mediocre team that no one cares about, or they'll fade into oblivion.

(Didn't think I'd get back on track, did you?)

The Redskins will continue being a piss-poor team until Snyder leaves or until the fans stop buying tickets. Given how much Washingtonians love the 'Skins, I think we'll have to wait for Snyder to die before we get another Super Bowl run. And, the 'Skins a team nobody cares about? Since Joe Gibbs left for the first time in 1993, they've only been to the playoffs three times, yet they gross more revenue than any other NFL franchise. No, people care about the 'Skins. They only way they will get better before Snyder is sent packing is if people stop caring about them.

Yeah It could go either way....that is the point I am trying to make. I believe that the Texans are soo overated because they never fullfill that "potential" that they are always believed to have. They have struggled when someone managed to get hot against them and they simply cannot be consistent. The Niners have their share of problems but the only main thing we're lacking is a QB....give us a decent QB...hell give us Tony Romo and we can be the best team ever....we already have a young improving defense and a good rushing core. Our run defense is very good and our pass defense can get better but expect the Niners to start getting real good real soon.

Well, this was a rather disappointing day on top of what is going to be a shit-filled season for Carolina. :disappointed: Here you have the dead-last team in Football, (Buffalo) for being able to stop the run. And their opponent's for this week, (Carolina) put up over 250 rushing yds a week ago.

Thomas Jones ran for over 200 yds on Buffalo last week, and that was when Buffalo should've known the Jets weren't gonna throw it without two valuable WRs. so they seemingly tried (yet failed) to stop the run. DeAngelo Williams (no offense to Jets fans) is a far greater and better RB than Thomas Jones..

And yet the genius calling plays in Carolina this week.. sees the #4 ranked Pass-Defense, and hears the bitching, whining and moaning of our #1 WR (Steve Smith "south") and decides.. "Hmm, run against someone who can't stop an elderly lady from crossing the street.. or pass, with a guy who leads the league in INTs, to one sole target because he claims he hasn't been targeted enough. Fuck it, I'm ballsy, we'll throw!"

I've defended Jake Delhomme all season, and will ride this out to the oh-so bitter end. However, when you face the League's worst run-stopping defense.. and you decide to fucking pass more than run.. YOU DESERVE TO LOSE, BECAUSE YOU ARE FUCKING BRAINLESS! I've never been more ashamed of the mindless, incompetent play calling in Carolina than I was today.

The lone TD we got, (by DeAngelo Williams, rushing, I might add) was after Jake got way too lucky on a 4th and 1; 25+ yd pass to Steve Smith. (yeah, 1 yd to go on 4th down, and someone called a fucking pass down the middle of the field, to a guy covered by 2 people - brilliant!) I mean, seriously.. who calls a pass play when you need a first down on 4th down, and that pass is directly straight down the middle of the field, to your #1 guy who's bound to be double covered?! How we even got that was amazing enough.. but the shear idiocy of the call was mind-boggling.

As for everything else.. our Defense held Buffalo to 3 pts. I don't care if the final score was 20-9.. Jake Delhomme threw 3 INTs that helped the Bills put up those 17 other points. Their offense sure as fuck didn't do anything. Hollis Thomas has been an amazing fill-in for Ma'ake, to clog up the middle and stop the run. He's also helping Peppers, Brown & Brayton get off and to the QB quicker, since hes so big he has to have two linemen block him.

And last but not least. John Kasey missed 2 FGs, and we went for it (and failed) because of that on another 4th and 1 situation instead of kicking a FG. Had we of kicked 3 FGs instead of missed and turned the ball over.. we'd have won, since we wouldn't of thrown the ball for the final TD they got.. we'd have run it, to waste the clock. Actually, I take that back.. we'd have probably still lost.. because some dipshit on our sidelines is calling passing plays when we're built to run the fucking ball.

Alright, I love Lovie Smith, but this shit ain't working anymore. I thought the team was going to gel in preseason. I thought the O-Line would give Matt Forte the opportunity to possibly repeat his rookie performance, I thought the defense was going to revert back to old form. Overall I thought the team could improve by 2-3 wins. It has been shit.

There aren't many places I can look to for some positives. The receivers have done an outstanding job considering everyone has shit on them. Knox has stepped up, Hester is improving, Bennett has made some big catches. Robbie Gould and Special Teams has also been the standard for the team, and again one of the top ST teams in the league. Also for the most part, Cutler has been better than people thought. Sure he had a shit game today, I'd say his 2nd or 3rd, but during the 3 game winning streak, his demeanor brought about the mindset of the game winning drives he orchestrated. Lastly, I'll give the Linebacking core a break. The captain of the defense went down the first week of the season, his replacement went down, and now a 3rd stringer has been playing fairly well. Tinoisamoa is out for the year now, so the LB spots are getting depleted.

But as I look past the fandom now, I see many problems that need to be fixed before this team can even resemble a Super Bowl contender. First and foremost is the Offensive Line. You can't go down field if you are getting False Start penalties all the fucking time! Omiyale and Pace have disappointed me most, as they are supposed to be the veterans and should just step in. But no, they can't gel.

Another spot is the Secondary. This one, well the entire defense can be included with this, I contribute to a move made 2 years ago when the Bears got rid of Chris Harris, and let Ron Rivera go. Rivera was the tough S.O.B. that made sure that defense played well. They got rid of Harris because they felt they had too many players at the Safety spot. Lo and behold, Mike Brown went down again and the Safety rotation looked like shit, with the exception of Danieal Manning. For fucks sake they gave up what like 5 or 6 TDs today. Not acceptable at all, I don't care if it was Carson Palmer.

Lastly, the coaching. I love Lovie, I said that in my opening sentence. But what the fuck is he doing. Your team is down 31-3 at halftime, fucking lay into them a little bit, wake their asses up. I just don't get it. His calm demeanor was great when they were winning, people were saying "oh yeah, you don't need to yell to get them to win". Now people are saying "what the fuck Lovie?!?! Get angry you son of a bitch!!!!!!" I know, I did it today lol. He is too comfortable with his current group of guys on staff. Lovie needs a swift kick in the ass, realize his staff, Turner especially, is too damn timid. Take some chances, don't play it safe all the time.

The offense needs a coordinator who will let the offense take some chances and make things happen, and Lovie needs to allow it to happen. The run isn't working, so utilize Cutler's arm.

My solution, draft for the Secondary and O-Line. I know, easier said than done. But it needs to happen, those spots especially need to improve if this team wants to go to the Super Bowl in the next few years. Until then, or until someone wakes the fuck up and plays like they should, I am going to be doomed to mediocrity.

The Saints played AWESOME yesterday! By far the best game from them this year, and as I said in the NFL Week 7 LD, the absolute best game I've seen from Drew Brees. Sure, he had 3 interceptions, but you know what? He finally led this team to a victory, after trailing early on and going into the 4th. He hasn't done that often, but he did so yesterday and it was glorious. He was a fucking warrior out there. And I really believe had he not convinced Sean Payton to go for the touchdown, instead of settling for the field goal, at the end of the 2nd Quarter going into halftime, the Saints would have lost that game. But Brees convincing Coach Payton, and then getting the touchdown with a fearless Quarterback sneak, it completely changed the game around and was the kickstart to the come back.

Also, I fucking LOVE Darren Sharper. He's vastly becoming my favorite defensive player of all time. With all due respect to Mike McKenzie (my previous favorite), Pat Swilling, Vaughan Johnson, and Sam Mills, no one has ever had the type of impact on defense for this franchise that Darren Sharper has had. If he keeps this up, and stays with us for another couple of years, then there won't be any argument whatsoever from anybody that this guy is the greatest ever to put on a Saints uniform on the defensive side of the ball. This guy is spectacular, and the Saints are very fortunate to have picked him up. Moreover, now that we're half-way through the season, is it safe to say that he's currently the Defensive Player of the Year? I certainly think so. :D

Anyway, some other thoughts:

Extremely disappointed in both Atlanta and New York. They're both way better than they played today, especially Atlanta. But hopefully Atlanta plays like they played today next week so the Saints can cruise to an easy victory.

The Houston Texans are forreal!!! With Cincinnati absolutely DESTROYING Chicago yesterday, it showed that last week Houston was just a good team, not that Cincy had a bad week. That plus a victory over a very good San Francisco team, you have to start believing in Houston. But how about that Alex Smith? Great game from him yesterday, and almost ruined the Texans day. I'm very interested to see how he performs next week.

Let's see... what else? Oh yeah, Minnesota's first loss. That sucked, but the final 8/9 minutes of that game were very, very entertaining. Hopefully Favre and the Vikes can rebound next week when Favre returns to Lambeau. I cannot wait for that one!!

New England and Indy both had great games yesterday. I don't care what anyone says, the true sign of a great team is one that wins the games they're supposed to, and do so big. It's why I still have faith in the New York Giants, even with their two consecutive losses. Speaking of the Giants... that game against the Cardinals was another entertaining one. It's looks like Arizona is finally looking like the team who went to the Super Bowl last year.

And lastly.... go Redskins!!!!!!!! Let's see the Eagles lose to another "awful" team in the 2nd straight week. The Redskins sure as shit are better than the Raiders, and hopefully they play like it tomorrow. Fuck the Eagles!!

Wow, looks like a lot of people are pissed about their losses. I sure as hell am.

It looks like the Giants are returning to their 2006 days. One day the defense plays outstanding, the next day they play awful. One day the offense plays awful, the next day they play great. It was just a depressing loss.

I've never seen the Cardinals defense look so great. They looked like a top 5 defense out there. The blitzing was awesome and the secondary came to play ball. The interception by DRC was phenomenal. They had a great day.

Our offense just didn't show in the second half. HORRENDOUS play calling and our wide receivers played like crap. We were having a FIELD day with the run in the first half of the game (and they stacked all 8 in the box), but we revert to passing the second half. Our WRs ran awful routes and they couldn't fucking get big plays on rookie defensive backs. They just didn't play ball.

Our defense played great though. Even with the GOD AWFUL punting that was happening all night. A few holes but they played pretty good. They gave our offense every opportunity to win the game. Its just depressing that we lost to the Arizona Cardinals. But after seeing how the Cards defense played, I guess they arent a crappy team. Still, not a good loss. If we keep up this inconsistency we could finish 9-7 for the season.

AND what the hell was up with Elis game clinching interception? He's paid that money to lead us to game winning drives. Eli arguably has one of the best 2-minute drills in the NFL, and he gave the INT... Then again, it just wasn't 'those nights' for a game winning drive.

This man is exactly right, Daniel Snyder is the problem. He is too involved and does not know football. He is a ******ed version of Al Davis, who definitely doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground now, but back in the day was very knowledgable. Age has warped his decision making, arrogance warps Snyder.
As an Eagles fan, I am not complaining, but Snyder needs to hire someone in the front office and let them make the decisions. Not be a puppet.

Okay, the monday night game is long over. Looks like all that bullshit about the play calling being the Redskins struggles, isn't really the main issue.

Is it Zorn's fault that Clinton Portis is not the same back that he was, and can't run up the middle anymore?

Is it Zorn's fault that Clinton Portis can't hit a home run hole anymore?

Is it Zorn's fault that Jason Campbell isn't a fit for a West Coast offense?

Is it Zorn's fault Santana Moss fails to get consistent separation or attention in a game, and just flat out isn't a #1 receiver?

Is it Zorn's fault his center can't get a snap on 4th down?

If anyone disagrees, feel free to break up each of my sentences and attempt to contradict everything I say, if you will.

Simply put, the problem falls on Dan Snyder. He is awful at evaulting talent and his personell decisions make you scratch your head. Anyone who blames the play calling is ignorant and it was proven in the Monday night game that the talent is the problem.

Get a new GM, one that builds through the draft, not one that spends $100 million on a DT that cant stay healthy and becomes invisible for a large portion of the game.

Its my team, so I feel I can comment on this.

Okay, the monday night game is long over. Looks like all that bullshit about the play calling being the Redskins struggles, isn't really the main issue.

Yes it is. Look at the game where they had benched Campbell in favor of Collins. They gave him 1 down to work with, the 3rd down. You cannot call 2 running plays with a new QB in there and expect him to make it work. If you benched a QB in the first place, at least give the other QB a chance too air it out and build some sort of rhythm. Hell, if the run game isn't working (which it hasn't all year) pull back from it. Either of those QB's can air it out when they need to, they just never get their rhythms going.

Is it Zorn's fault that Clinton Portis is not the same back that he was, and can't run up the middle anymore?

Yes and no. First off; they shouldn't keep calling plays up the middle. I mean, if Betts and Cartwright can do it; why the fuck can't the number 1 back do it? Secondly; Its Zorn's fault he's not MAKING Portis to practice. THAT is a big reason why as well. We've got a fucked up line and Portis doesn't know how to run with them. Till he decides to stop thinking about himself and about the team, he's going to continue to be shit and not just decent.

Is it Zorn's fault that Clinton Portis can't hit a home run hole anymore?

Again, make the fucker practice.

Is it Zorn's fault that Jason Campbell isn't a fit for a West Coast offense?

Campbell can handle the offense. The mans stats are damn good in this offense, its just the points are not going up. Why? Because we throw between the 20's and run inside of them. When giving SMART plays and a chance to get a rhythm and get comfortable, Campbell is a very good Quarterback.

Is it Zorn's fault Santana Moss fails to get consistent separation or attention in a game, and just flat out isn't a #1 receiver?

This comes down to when you only HAVE 1 reciever. Devin Thomas and Malcom Kelly need to pick it up, really, and that is something Zorn needs to work on. Moss is a #1 reciever, but besides Cooley he's basically our only weapon. Randle El is just not a 2nd or 3rd slot back. Not sure he ever was.

Is it Zorn's fault his center can't get a snap on 4th down?

Discipline. You get that mother fucker to snap that ball 100 times, and he messes up, he does it 100 times more. You get discipline on your team and you don't have those stupid mistakes.

If anyone disagrees, feel free to break up each of my sentences and attempt to contradict everything I say, if you will.

Done.

Simply put, the problem falls on Dan Snyder. He is awful at evaulting talent and his personell decisions make you scratch your head. Anyone who blames the play calling is ignorant and it was proven in the Monday night game that the talent is the problem.

You're right, but theres also bad play calling, people out for themselves, Vinny Cerato, and just a shit ton of issues. How can you call the TALENT the problem when you've got such a FUCKED up system in place right now? The play calling was shit, you've got 3 guys calling the plays. Do you KNOW how confusing that is?

Get a new GM, one that builds through the draft, not one that spends $100 million on a DT that cant stay healthy and becomes invisible for a large portion of the game.

That was a bad decision, we need to work with draft picks and not FA. But Haynesworth has heart, he proved that to me earlier in the season, and he's doing a DAMN fine job on that line as evident by Carter's growth and even Orakpo on 3rd down. He's doing his job, a job that isn't and wasn't meant to be flashy and noticeable but one that was supposed to improve the line as a whole.

For the first time in over a year, I'm worried as a Giants fan. They played great while working with a thin roster, and have slowly slipped downhill with guys returning from injuries. I'm not sure what 1 thing they can do to fix it, but I do know they need to get the ground game established, and fast. Without Jacobs and Bradshaw running wild, it really makes it tough for Eli to work with a group of inexperience, albeit good, receivers.

This weekend in Philly is a big match-up, but I think they'll show up ready to play. They're 2-0 against the division so far, and it's important to not fall back to the pack...

No offense to you guys but come on!!! I would be jumping for freaking joy if I were a Giants fan! You guys lost 2 games in a row! Big Frickin Deal! Stop talking about the Arizona Cardinals as if they were a little league team! The Cardinals are the defending NFC Champs for crying out loud! They are (repeat it after me) a good team. They have the number 1 run defense in the league. What do the Giants like to do? Surprise surprise RUN THE BALL. When they were forced to pass, Eli Manning struggled. Face facts...the Giants simply had a bad game. The Cardinals had a great game.

Look I am a Niners fan and I love them to death but I should have MORE WORRIES than you Giants fan...at least you guys have been to the playoffs over and over again and won the Super Bowl 2 years ago...and look at who you are playing this sunday: At Philly where you have won 4 in a row!

My Niners are playing in Indy! We are supposed to lose and we probably will but at least you guys have a good reputation and an actual chance to get to the Super Bowl....smile be hopeful you got A GOOD TEAM.

Yeah, I agree with RBH... Giants fans have absolutely nothing to worry about. The Giants absolutely destroyed the teams they were supposed to beat, and I think it left them a little unmotivated for teams like the Saints and Cardinals. The Giants secondary was just too weak to handle Drew Brees and the New Orleans offense, and their front four couldn't get pressure on Brees like they had plan. New Orleans, I feel is just a better team right now, but if the Giants secondary can get healthy, then you never know. However, the Cardinals game was just a good game for the Cardinals. I strongly feel if these two played each other in a 7 game Playoff, the Giants would most definitely win the series. They're simply the better team and just didn't play well enough against the Cardinals last week. But, I don't think we'll see that kind of performance from them come playoff time.

The Colts almost let it slip to the 49ers with Alex Smith at QB. Nothing against Smith, but this was a shock to see this game this close. The 49ers have a nice defense and the offense is finding it's groove, so I think they may still surprise. The Colts, while this was a so so game, are still the best team all around IMO and I can see them as the AFC opponent in the Super Bowl.
