NFL AND NCAAF bar room thread

Tramon Williams is visiting the Saints tonight. Should be a done deal really soon with a hometown discount.

REVIS!

Looks like the Jets solved their corner issues. Revis, Buster Skrine, Dee Milliner, and the guys from last year should be fine.

Oh, and the Saints got off the Jimmy Graham bandwagon early. Better to get off early than late. He's owed a lot of money and is coming off injury.

Finally, Nick Foles for Sam Bradford is a good trade for the Eagles. Bradford is in a contract year so they can get out of his deal easier than Foles, and they can still go for Mariotta.

Walter Thurmond signs with Philly, pairs him up with Maxwell again.

Jason Worilds retired shockingly enough.

Speaking of former Seahawk corners, Brandon Browner is visiting New Orleans.

Murray flying in to meet with the Eagles.

Ill have a blast this fall when the Eagles are blowing people up and I get to hold all of these shit talkers accountable when they try to come crawling back.

The Eagles have quietly filled every major flaw they had last year. If they sign Murray and Bradford stays healthy, there will be major, major problems for their opponents.

Good luck with that one. He's good when he can stay on his feet but that doesn't happen nearly enough.

Meh. Same was said about Drew Brees and Especially Matt Stafford for a while. Im pretty sure Stafford had his name legally changed to "Matt Stafford If He Can Stay Healthy"

Biiiiig difference. Stafford had injury issues his first two years of his career, been fine ever since. Not to mention 2009 he was put on IR with a minor knee injury because the Lions were so far gone they'd rather save him. 2010 when he missed the most time was an injury to his throwing arm.

Bradford on the other hand has suffered not one, but two ACL tears. He's missed all of 2014, most of 2013, and at least half of 2011. He hasn't been all that good even when he has played. 58% completion percentage for his career, a nearly even 50-50 ratio of TD's to turnovers. And averages 6.2 average per attempt. His stats are comparable to Christian Ponder. And suddenly he's gonna become this world destroying QB with an ACL made of adamantium? Not likely.

I'm not talking shit, I'm just saying that if Sam Bradford is gonna become this all world QB after 4 years of mediocrity and injury, I'd be very very surprised.

I think Bradford will at least be decent due to the system he's in. Foles and Sanchez looked like better QBs than they really are because of Kelly's system.

I think Murray is an upgrade over McCoy (especially since he'll fit in what Chip is looking for) but they need some receivers to help out Bradford. Cooper and Matthews are their best options, which isn't saying much. Could definitely see them spending one or two early picks on guys (a guy like DGB seems like a decent flyer to take in the 3rd round. Has talent but character issues are a concern).

As for Ngata I don't think this means the Lions change into a 3-4. It makes them more versatile and allows them to go into hybrid looks, but I'd be shocked if they don't address the DT spot with a few draft picks early on (the FSU guy or Bennett from OSU are possibilities).

I think Matthews is a quality WR, I think he will be fine there. They definitely need an upgrade across from him. However there is a very slim chance DGB will be there in the 3rd round. He will be selected mid-late 1st-early 2nd. I think a team like Baltimore or Seattle snatches him up in the 1st come draft time.

A system that is fine tuned for Bradford's skill set.

People are missing the forest for the trees on this.

Am I saying he is gonna throw 60 touchdowns? No. Is he an upgrade over Sanchito and Foles 13-10 TD-INT ratio from last year? Absolutely yes. People act like Foles was on some breakneck Tom Brady level last year, when he was actually quite pedestrian.

Everyone went apeshit when Jackson left "ZOMG HOW DO THEY MAKE UP THE PRODUCTION"....and then here comes Maclin.

So how many years in a row does someone need to be put into that spot and get 1200+ and 6+ TD before maybe it has something more to do with the system?

They drafted Jordan Matthews for a reason, and they see him every day in practice, in games.

Now they signed Murray AND Ryan Mathews too? Along with signing three top 30 players to fill their most glaring needs on defense?

Ok. Say and think what you want, everyone.

It's also a system though that allows the QB to get hit a lot, and also a system where the offense gets off more plays than any other in the league.

So the whole "If Bradford can stay healthy" argument does hold a lot of merit, especially in a system like this.

I'm one of those who think Chip is out of his mind, but holy fuck is it entertaining. It's like a damn video game. Can't wait to see what he does next. :lmao:

Also, both deals (their compensation for Bradford and Murrays garunteed money) are about slashed by 30% if either of them gets hurt.

The offense is DESIGNED to get the ball out fast. Don't judge it on Sanchez and Vick holding on the ball too long.

Dolphins signed Jordan Cameron. Yesssss for both my fantasy team and their real one.

People are talking about how the Phins are legit contenders, but I said they needed to add more weapons for Tannehill. That's a big one.

I was hoping for this. Solid backup TE to Gronk for AOE.

Unless of course someone were to need a TE. A deal could be made.

Andd the Vikings may be trying to move Cordarelle Patterson.

Could we give him at least ONE more fucking year to see if he's worth anything?

Guess the biggest reason is he can't learn the offense.

Fuck it. Philly needs a WR. We need a Guard in the worst fucking way possible. Philly is trying to trade Evan Mathis. I see a good deal here.

Didn't Leslie Frazier basically hate Patterson? I'm surprised to see them try to move on from him so quickly with Zimmer in charge now.

He was a one year wonder in college, so I wouldn't be surprised to ultimately see him bust. Plus he wouldn't be the first Tennessee receiver to not cut it in the pros.

That would require Frazier to have/show any emotion at all in the first place.

I forever worry about Samuel Bradford's knees in any offense. I'd worry about any QB's knees after multiple ACL injuries. When healthy he's an upgrade over Foles, hence why the Eagles had to give up more picks for him, but still it's a risk. Of course there's still a chance Bradford is traded for Mariotta.

Antonio Cromartie has come home to the Jets after a one year hiatus. Just like Revis came home to the Jets after a 2 year hiatus. Add in Buster Skrine and a returning from injury Dee Milliner and the crappy corner corps of 2014 has become one of the better corner corps in all of the NFL. Now all the Jets need are a safety and a QB (one of those is easier to find than the other...)

I agree. With another good WR (along with hanging onto Wallace for at least another year) and getting a decent RB in there, maybe making a deal with Denver for Ball or Anderson they could be contenders. I just wonder why they went after Jordan Cameron considering they just resigned Charles Clay. Maybe they wanna have the two good TE thing going that Indy does.

Also I forgot the name, but the Patriots lost yet another good defender today. I'm loving the fact that their defense is quickly falling apart as it will ensure they don't win another championship.

On the topic of Patriot defenders, heard that Wilfork is talking to Indy, I'd love to see him go there.
