NFL AND NCAAF bar room thread

Back to football. We finally get a date for Brady's hearing....predictions for the outcome? I'm thinking Big Rog gives Brady two games...maybe even say he'll reduce it for one game with good behavior or some stupid crap like that. And Brady's going to bend over and take it because if he sues them and goes to court his cellphone records and any other evidence he wouldn't give up could then be subpoenaed and he would be Ryan Bruan'd to the world and exposed for the lying cheater scumbag he is.

Serious question here, I wonder how this plays into the Brady fantasy draft value?

I think I shall have it as part of my strategum in my yearly leagues. You could probably score some major value if you can float those first 2 - 4 games.

I think no one ends up getting him at a proper value. People will either draft him like normal, which will result in an overpay due to the game(s) he will miss, or draft him crazy late because they undervalued the games he will play.

I'm kinda excited because I get to see if Jimmy G is gonna be a worthwhile stash or not in our dynasty league.

Well one thing I know is because the hearing date is for the end of June, so that means a lot of fantasy magazines are going to be published without them knowing the outcome.

Honestly though, for a smart person it shouldn't have any impact. I draft QBs late anyway so I would never get Brady. Always take Running Backs first two rounds.

But if someone does take Brady, all you have to do is just take a decent backup later on. Someone like Ben Roethlisberger could very easily substitute for Brady for a couple of weeks. Big Ben, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer. Take one of those guys mid draft. In a normal league say round 11 or so.

I know this is the NFL/NCAAFB thread, but let me go off on a tangent:

the MLBPA allowing a salary cap would be the dumbest thing ever because it would artificially set a limit to what players could earn. If you have a finite amount of space to spend, obviously certain players are going to not get what they currently get. Yeah, Kyle Seager/Pablo Sandoval/insert average player here earns just as much/more than Rodgers/Brady/etc. on a per year basis despite being not as important of players, but you know where that money would be going if it wasn't going to the players? The owners, who consistently are trying to rip off taxpayers to pay for their stadium (*cough* Jeff Loria *cough*) or are willing to drop players whenever they feel (basically every NFL team) regardless of how much non guaranteed money is left.

So no, fuck salary caps and anyone that thinks they're a good idea for a sport doesn't realize what they really do. The rich teams will always spend more, salary cap or not, and the sport without one, has just as much/more parity than the ones that do.

Hell most of baseball money isn't even guaranteed. The highest paid baseball player including outside sponsors is only #19 on the list (Jon Lester) as the highest paid athletes in the world. The MLB is the 2nd most profitable sport in the nation, yet the gap difference in revenue/profit in baseball and basketball is a larger amount than baseball and football. The owners of baseball are simply raking in the money.

Major bump.

Arian Foster suffered a significant groin injury last night. According to reports it will require surgery, but nothing has been confirmed by anyone as of yet.

Well our cakewalk to a division title just got easier. Hate to see it though, as Arian is a special player when healthy.

Only thing that could stop you is JJ Watt being converted to running back.

Seriously would you want to try tackling him?

Let's make the Geno Smith Story even more entertaining.

The Bills claimed IK Enemkpali off waivers. Rex Ryan is like the ultimate troll coach.

All itll take is one play, and ITS BRYCE PETTY TIME BAYBAAAYYYY
For one week before it becomes TYLER THIGPEN OR REX GROSSMAN TIME BAYBAAAAYYY!

An injury would force Petty into the game, and the Jets to sign a veteran to play the position competently.

Perfect timing no less. Geno should be back by then, and pending on IK staying with the Bills, yes, this is good.
And not being arrested and/or suspended; or my personal favorite, the Commissioners Exempt List, AKA we don't want you to play while until after all litigation is completed.

Im genuinely fascinated by the way you seem absolutely thirst-crazed for his failure, when you guys have nothing even resembling hope for the future at QB outside of him.

I'm not at all thirst-crazed for his failure. I want him to succeed. I just don't ever see a rookie 5th round pick (who was drafted as a project) ever starting in his rookie season.

Hell he could be great. I just don't see him being anything close to it in 2015 if he plays. And if he does play in 2015 and is terrible, it would kill his potential growth.

Not at all true. Guys with the right mental make-up learn from those mistakes. Peyton Manning broke the rookie record for INTs his first year. Luck was up there too.

I don't think he is gonna TAKE you anywere, but is Ryan Fitzpatrick and whomever they sign off the street going to?

At the very least with his arm talent and two awesome possession receivers, I think it could have a shot, to be at or near RF's production, with a much higher ceiling. Rookies Joe Flacco and Big Ben depended on great defense and great possession WRs to take them far.

Yes. The Jets have enough talent at receiver and seemingly a strong enough defense where this could happen.
