NFC/AFC Championship Weekend LD

The more respectable analyst call him good. I think he's the second best quarterback in the league to be honest. People still say Rivers is better. Yeah in fantasy football...

Meh, I think Rivers might be the most overrated QB in the game right today, he's good but I wouldn't call him "elite", maybe when he can be effective in the post season...

Rod Woodson pissed me off though. He said Ben isn't even top 10... Lmao.. What sport is he watching?

I am not sure it is entirely his fault, the whole Charger franchise are chokers.

I was referring to him celebrating after his first catch in 35 minutes...
yeah, pretty much every receiver in the league points after a 1st Down catch. Not that big a deal. I understand what you're saying though.

I disagree, Manning had talent at receiver. Harrison, Wayne, and Clark.. I'll give you Brady, but that's it. Ben won a SB with Randle El as his number 2...
ummmm, there are 2 sides of the ball. Offense and Defense. Manning had pretty much no talent on D. Ben has one of, if not the, best D's in the league every year of his career. Brady had an excellent D when he was winning Super Bowls, and now he has had a sub-par D the past couple years (one of the reasons they got KOed in the playoffs the last 2 years).

My problem is Michael Vick is like held in high standards at the moment and he was gone for a few years. Ben may be a asshole off the field. But I don't think that's the case. He donates money and he's done that before the accusations. He signs autographs. People blow some of that out of proportion. He's famous and recognizable, every time he goes out he doesn't want to be bothered. He wants to have fun.. He shouldn't have to sign shit and what not.
Fans are split on Vick. His difference is that he suffered GREATLY for his indiscretions, he spent 2 years in federal prison, lost all his money (and no, he hasn't gotten it back, not at all), and he comes off as a completely changed man since his return to football. The NFL media supports him, because him being in the league, playing at a high level, and being a changed person, is good for the NFL.

Ben hasn't paid for his indiscretions (in the eyes of the fans), and has never really shown that he's a different person. And I'm sorry, Ben is an asshole off the field. Guys put himself in position to get accused of RAPE not once, but TWICE, as well as illegally riding a motorcycle (no license for it, no helmet) and crashing it (nearly killing himself) and lying about the incident (said in interviews that he had a license when he didn't).

He may not have been great, but he made plays when needed to be. Like on the first drive... two plays come to mind. The pitch to Mendenhall and his like 12 yard run. His interceptions were pretty much long punts. I know the one closer to the endzone was sort of boneheaded. But he underestimated Poole ( I think?) and the coverage. He should have thrown it earlier. And the first int was because Mendenhall sort of stumbled off the line. You're right, he wasn't great, but he made plays when needed. That's what great Qb's do...
1. the pick on 4th down looked like the ball got tipped by the Jets. The Pick on the deep pass was a poor decision, and he tried to force the ball there. Pool was too close to warrant throwing the ball, Ben forced it and Pool made the (relatively easy) play.
2. He did make a few good plays, much like any great QB would do (make a couple good plays when playing poorly to give your team a chance). Hence why I keep saying he's a great QB.

Justin, no he doesn't. Many analysts don't consider him an elite quarterback. They still call him a game manager. Roethlisberger himself said it best. You don't manage football games, you manage restaurants...
He does get more credit then you say he does, and most people don't call him a game manager anymore (to be fair, his first SB winning season he was a "Game Manager" type QB). But you are right that he doesn't generally get enough credit. Also, I think part of his problem was that in the first 4 games, they went 3-1 with Dennis Dixon, who, lets be honest, is Dennis Fucking Dixon, which means that they could win with pretty much anybody that is close to competent.

Rod Woodson pissed me off though. He said Ben isn't even top 10... Lmao.. What sport is he watching?
Rod Woodson is a moron, UNLESS he was talking about All Time, in which case I can understand it. But since he was likely talking about active QBs, Rod Woodson lost a TON of credibility in my eyes. BAD job by him.

However, I need to shift the focus right now. After today's performance, of the NFL QBs that started in 2010, where does Mark Sanchez now rank, and where was he entering the season, or even the postseason? I honestly can't name 12 QBs that would be put ahead of him. Hell, even 10 would be hard. He wins games (especially on the road), and puts up very good numbers, in the POSTSEASON, against the leagues elite. You really can't ask for much more.

Not this year. Rodgers will get caught up in the bright lights and aura that is the biggest stage of them all and lay an egg. It happened in Ben's first Superbowl, it'll happen to Rodgers this year. You guys need Rodgers to win, we can win with our QB having an off day. Add in two weeks for Troy to get healthy, and I can't picture a GB win. Not this year.

I thought Wrestlemania was the biggest stage of them all?

Rivers puts up better stats with less talent around him, Big Ben wins Championships. I'd obviously rather have the Championships than the stats; but you can't just brush the stats aside. Rivers is an elite QB, the numbers don't lie, the wins don't lie, the record for consecutive wins in the months on November and December don't lie.

Only a Steeler's fan would bitch and moan about another QB getting more credit when you've won multiple SB's in the last few years...."But Ben doesn't get enough credit" Wah Wah Wah, I didn't know you needed Tom Jackson and the rest of the ESPN lackeys to lament Ben's place in history.

Rivers is the better QB, Ben has had a better team and better coaching staff and a way better front office than Rivers.

Meh, I think Rivers might be the most overrated QB in the game right today, he's good but I wouldn't call him "elite", maybe when he can be effective in the post season...

I guess we can't call Dan Marino an elite QB? Rivers finally grabs a little national media attention and everyone east of California gets there panties in a bundle.

Yes. This. FFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. :(

And here I thought Wrestlemania was the Grandest stage of them all, and the Showcase of the Immortals....:scratchchin:. I still see the Super Bowl as the biggest stage of them all, at least in North America. And our Steelers are playing there Sully. It was close against a very game Jets team with an emerging star in Mark Sanchez, but Ben came up big in the end as he usually does. ;)
