NFC/AFC Championship Weekend LD

I hope Rodgers tears the Steelers D a new asshole. My brother was acting like they (Pitt) just won the SB. I wanna rub it into him badly should they lose.

Also, what does everyone expect the line to be? I'm thinking Steelers -3 at the most.

Sorry Steeler, fans it's coming home with us where is belongs

Not this year. Rodgers will get caught up in the bright lights and aura that is the biggest stage of them all and lay an egg. It happened in Ben's first Superbowl, it'll happen to Rodgers this year. You guys need Rodgers to win, we can win with our QB having an off day. Add in two weeks for Troy to get healthy, and I can't picture a GB win. Not this year.

Steelers -2.5.

Pulling Collins before the third quarter was over was the stupidest decision of all.
actually, I completely disagree. Waiting the 2 plays would mean that they could at any time put in Cutler again (Cutler injured would come back before Collins). That would make the inexperienced kid have to try and be perfect and not make a single mistake, which would lead to him playing like shit. Insuring the kid that it was his game the rest of the way let him be able to just go out there and play, which gave the team the best chance to win.

The playcalling at the end was shit though (direct snap reverse thing on 3rd and 4 was terrible).
I love how people claim games are over at half time especially during the playoffs. There have been so many occasions where leads have evaporated, but still people love calling games done before the final whistle.
this times 10 Million. As Yogi Berra once said, it ain't over til it's over.
Win or lose, the Jets showed themselves with this comeback they're truly championship material. They've been playing with an endless amount of heart since their last drive in the 1st half. They will have NOTHING to be ashamed of if the Steelers hang on and win the game.
You're right, and that's why I'm not pissed. I also know that this teams window of opportunity is still WIDE open. All the key players are young (QB, HB, WRs, TE, LT, C, MLBs, CB, S all less then 6 years, most less then 5).
(editors note: Jets fail was what Mega was replying to, and I don't feel like finding the original post to quote it)
This.
Give the Jets shit all you want. However, they're no denying they were one of the best teams this season (try to deny it in red rep all you want, but you're dead fucking wrong.

This game came down to one thing. The Jets played a shit first half (undeniable). They dominated the 2nd half, but couldn't get that 1 last possession.

The only really poor playcalling was the fact that on the goal line stand drive, they never once threw a fade to Santonio Holmes, who has made a living catching 4th quarter fades in the End Zone.

Now go Pack.

PACKERS GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM FIRED UP!!!!!, CAN'T WAIT CAN'T FUCKING WAIT!!!!!!
For the first time in history it seems, Megatron and I agree on something football related. GO PACKERS!

CLAY MATTHEWS 4 SUPER BOWL MVP!!!!!!!!!!

I'd also like to be maybe the first to complement both games officiating crew. Both games were well officiated, and there were no bad calls/no-calls. The only time I thought they could have called something and didn't (or vice versa) in either game was when Sanchez slid and got hit a second and a half later in the 4th quarter. Could have been called and wasn't, but still was an excellently officiated contest.

PITTSBURGH IS GOING FOR NUMBA 7

The Pack's D is pretty fly as well. Especially the back 7.

And if the Pack take a page out of the Pats playbook from Week 10 (hint: throw throw throw) they'll have more then a chance.

And I don't see Rodgers collapsing and failing hard now. He's played good-great every postseason game he's had (with today being his worst). If Mark Sanchez could throw on the Steelers the way he did in the 2nd half (granted, the Steelers were giving him those dink and dunk passes) Rodgers has a great chance. Not going to make a prediction yet, but I will be rooting for GB.

To Storm: The Jets are a good team. I'm not denying that. But if you're sitting at home constantly during the last game you can't be considered great. I won't give them that satisfaction until they actually make it to the SB. They have a bright future, but you don't see people calling teams like the Chargers during the past 4-5 years great because they never took the next step to the SB. A very good team, yes. But great? Show me some rings, first.

Kudos to the Jets for making this close, and Sanchez had a helluva postseason. As a born and raised Steelers fan, you have to give the other team credit when credit is due. I heard so much local talk about how last week was the Jets "Super Bowl", and it looked that way in the first half. But one heck of a second half and if it wouldn't be for Ben being his brilliant self, the Jets may very well have won this game. Kudos to the Jets, Ryan's a heckuva coach, but Here we go Steelers!!!
LSN is by far the best Steeler fan on WrestleZone, and is easily top 3 in any Steeler fan I ever deal with, and living in Central Pennsylvania that's a lot. And I'm not just saying that because he's giving the Jets props. He knows what he's talking about and is very rarely (if ever) really bias in any way.

As much as I just gave you a proverbial e-blowjob LSN, I have to disagree here with some thing. Troy won't be healthy for the Super Bowl. He'll be as healthy as he's been since the injury, but he won't be healthy (as in completely injury-free) for a few months. Achilles injuries are not something that heal in 2 weeks.

I don't disagree about the notion that Rodgers COULD have a bad game, however I won't go as far as to guarantee it. He was pretty not good today, so we know that he CAN have bad postseason games, and he will be facing a very stout D. And Rodgers doesn't need to win for them, their D/running game can win games, ironically much like they did today, and like it did against the Jets in Week 8 or 9.

I agree with this. But if any team has shown they can move the football on the best D's in the league, it's Ben and the Steelers. They did so in back to back weeks on both the Ravens and the Jets. Mendenhall went over 100 yards behind a BAD offensive line against the Jets tonight.

I don't see Rodgers falling hard, he doesn't need to. I simply don't expect to see the Aaron Rodgers we saw against Atlanta or Philadelphia. Good defenses, but they're not the Steelers. Sanchez is showing himself to be a very good QB here in the playoffs, so the way he bounced back in the 2nd half didnt surprise me.

What scares me about GB is they go legitimately 4 deep at WR, and any of them can hurt you in different ways. I love our receivers here in Pittsburgh, but give me GB> Pittsburgh in terms of WR's.

I won't make a prediction because Im obviously biased as a Steelers fan.

The Steelers defense better get themselves together because they have been terrible in trying to keep leads. I honestly believe if you replace the Jets with the Packers, Pittsburgh wouldn't be leaving with a victory. It seemed we were playing not to lose and that isn't going to fly with an offense like Green Bay.

You did last week, so yeah, you actually were.

But if you're sitting at home constantly during the last game you can't be considered great. I won't give them that satisfaction until they actually make it to the SB.
So then the New England Patriots aren't a great team, because they are sitting at home all the time now (3 consecutive non-SB years, 0-2 in the playoffs, both at home, both times they got beat handily).

They have a bright future, but you don't see people calling teams like the Chargers during the past 4-5 years great because they never took the next step to the SB. A very good team, yes. But great? Show me some rings, first.
Acutally, yeah, people would call teams like that great. Not the greatEST, but excellent and great would be thrown around for consecutive playoff runs, especially when it's all done on the road against top teams, and especially when they play well even in the losses.

Steelers fans need a history lesson.

Packers Championships: 12
Steelers: 6

Are you stupid? The Steelers have 7 championships. We did lose a Superbowl to Dallas in 1996. I mean, yeah GB has 12 (Now 13) League championships, but it's 2011 now, and we're in the Superbowl. So let's look at those stats.

Green Bay is 3-1 in the Superbowl (soon to be 3-2 ;))

Green Bay 3-1 in SB, Pittsburgh 6-1. Hmmmmm

You did last week, so yeah, you actually were.

I gave them credit for stepping up and have said throughout the season that they're a good team, during the middle weeks (5-9ish iirc) especially.

So then the New England Patriots aren't a great team, because they are sitting at home all the time now (3 consecutive non-SB years, 0-2 in the playoffs, both at home, both times they got beat handily).

Right now? Yeah. Brady's been the one few strong points of them the past 3 years (although he missed 1 whole season). The defense is still quite young but didn't step it up when they needed to. They're good right now, but they have the potential to be great with all of these young players on D (assuming they pan out) and a deep threat to stretch the defense.

They've been a good team, not a great one since XLII. I'm not going to deny that. 0-2 in 2 home playoff games isn't good.

Acutally, yeah, people would call teams like that great. Not the greatEST, but excellent and great would be thrown around for consecutive playoff runs, especially when it's all done on the road against top teams, and especially when they play well even in the losses.

Doesn't matter if you don't land in the final destination. And who cares if they play well and lose? They lost on the 2nd biggest stage, just like the Chargers did. They had a lot of preseason hype, they didn't fulfill it. They're a good team, at this moment, but great teams make (and eventually win) Super Bowls. You can really only put 4 or 5 teams in that great territory (Steelers, Packers, Saints, and maybe Colts (were down this year but almost everyone seemed hurt). The NFL is cyclical, but these 4 have made it to the SB lately, and deserve to be mentioned as great. Others are right under in good, which is where teams like the Jets, Pats, Ravens, and others are at. They have a chance to make the SB, but until they do, I can't put them into any category higher then 'good'. I could throw 'really' in there, but I don't like too many adjectives.

Are you high, or just incredibly stupid?

I'm going with option number 2.

You're about 9 trillion percent wrong here.

1. Pittsburgh has won 6 NFL Championships, not 7. 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 2005, 2008.
2. Green Bay has won 9 Championships (1936, 1939, 1944, 1961, 1962, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1996), and been to 12 Championship Games. You even admit to Green Bay winning more, but then say that Pittsburgh is a more winning franchise.
3. Why are you ignoring 40 years of football, especially when both teams were around for those year? It's not like comparing the Texans (started in 2002) and the Jets (Started in 1960). Since both have been around, Green Bay has won more.

Technically speaking the Packers have 12, even though for 3 of them they were only 'named' champs and weren't playing in a championship game.

But hell, they count them for college, so why not count them here? :suspic:

I was really impressed with the Jets despite the loss, and am glad the Steelers won due to me hating the jets. Sanchez proved me wrong man, that kid is a stud. Can't wait for the Superbowl, and I will have no preference in the game which will make it a lot more enjoyable.

I wonder if Roethlisberger will ever be respected as an elite quarterback? He's pretty much done anything and everything since 2004... He's heading into a 3rd superbowl. He's been to 4 afc championship games, he's only lost two playoff games and the one wasn't even his fault. I don't know what this guy has to do.

anxiously awaiting a joke about his personal life

Sanchez impressed me. And Holmes is still classless. Shit hasn't changed...
I didn't see any postgame, so I can't tell you what Holmes did to agree/disagree. He likely was pissed, and rightfully so. You would be pissed if you lost in the Conference Championship, and to the team that traded you no less.

I've said it before, and honestly I think the Media has too for the most part, but he is CLEARLY top 3 or 4 behind Manning/Brady, who have done it for MUCH longer, and with lesser talent around him. I won't put him above either, but he's above Brees now I think (Brees jumped him last year, Ben jumped Brees this year, and next year that could change again).

However, the main thing that does keep Ben from getting the respect you want from everybody IS his off-field issues. Of the 3 I mentioned (Brees, Brady, Manning), all 3 of them are considered elite citizens and extremely marketable because of their likability, and their on-field ability is equal to Ben. Ben will likely never have that likability because of his multiple off-field issues (regardless of how they ended, they are a permanent stain on his resume). I won't make a joke about it (here, I've done enough of that before), but it seriously is why he isn't as highly regarded as the others.

Although Ben, while he made a couple plays, didn't have a good game. It was workman-like at best, and poor at worst (133 yards, 2 picks, 35.5 rating; 1 carries, 21 yards and a TD). He didn't need to have a great game today, but if his receiver didn't catch that 3rd down pass, who knows what happens, and Ben would be looked at differently today.

I was referring to him celebrating after his first catch in 35 minutes...

I disagree, Manning had talent at receiver. Harrison, Wayne, and Clark.. I'll give you Brady, but that's it. Ben won a SB with Randle El as his number 2...

My problem is Michael Vick is like held in high standards at the moment and he was gone for a few years. Ben may be a asshole off the field. But I don't think that's the case. He donates money and he's done that before the accusations. He signs autographs. People blow some of that out of proportion. He's famous and recognizable, every time he goes out he doesn't want to be bothered. He wants to have fun.. He shouldn't have to sign shit and what not.

He may not have been great, but he made plays when needed to be. Like on the first drive... two plays come to mind. The pitch to Mendenhall and his like 12 yard run. His interceptions were pretty much long punts. I know the one closer to the endzone was sort of boneheaded. But he underestimated Poole ( I think?) and the coverage. He should have thrown it earlier. And the first int was because Mendenhall sort of stumbled off the line. You're right, he wasn't great, but he made plays when needed. That's what great Qb's do...

Justin, no he doesn't. Many analysts don't consider him an elite quarterback. They still call him a game manager. Roethlisberger himself said it best. You don't manage football games, you manage restaurants...

He's constantly considered a top 5 QB in the NFL, that's pretty elite, fuck Tom Jackson just called Ben "one of the best QB's in the league"
