MLB Week 1 LD

Megatron

Justin Verlander > You
Since the MLB season is only a few days old, I think it's time to try and create a LD for each week, running from this Sunday to next Saturday.

Cabrera just got #1 of the year, and it was a pretty swing. I can only imagine the numbers he would have if he played in this ballpark for 81 games instead of 3 or 4. Also nice to get an early lead to give Scherzer some breathing room.

Jays have started off hot, Cecil on the mound right now and he struck out the side in the 1st inning. Bautista has looked great so far and looks to be earning his new contract.

Nice play by Raburn. Kept off at least a double and possibly a run. Positive start after an inning.

Also, upcoming national schedule for the next week:

Day, Date, Time, Away Team, Home Team, Network

These pitchers have to cut down on the homers allowed. I know this is a hitters park and theres some pop in the middle order of the Yankees bat, but they have had a few too many for my liking. Especially since a few have been with a few guys on, which really hurts.

So I guess Longoria left yesterday with an injury, this combined with the Twins piss poor start is really making for a shitty MLB season for me already:disappointed:

Boesch at #3 is looking pretty good right now.

And I hope to see more SB's for Jackson this year. That's a good sign. 40 doesn't seem out of the question.

And CABRERA WITH ANOTHER! In the same spot! I LOVE IT when he's in NY. Very nice inning.

And that's why I hate this stadium. Two hits that barely hit 315 feet are Home Runs. No other place is that a home run. Those home runs are the worst, because you know they aren't leaving in any other stadium.

At least we got out with the lead, but might need another Cabrera home run before the day is over.

First of all the winds blowing out in Yankee Stadium, which is why the balls are flying out of the park.

Secondly, there are plenty of other hitter-friendly parks in which shots like those would be gone. And actually, Yankee Stadium played much less hitter friendly in 2010 then it did in 2009.

Both of those went 320 max, I'd like to know what other parks have 320 RF's.

Those are HR's I can accept.

And Boesch is looking great here today. 3 for 3 with 2 singles and how a HR. I'm pretty sure he wants a full starting job.

Fenway Park. Oh wait, it's 302 to right field, and 308 to left. That's not 314.

Oh, and Teixeira's shot went about 4 rows deep in Right Center, not down the Right Field line. It easily went 340. Cano just barely got his out, and it was 320, but that's baseball. Each park is different. Wrigley Field is short to Left Center and Right Center. Fenway is as I said ridiculously short to Right Field, with it's ridiculously short right field fence, as well as being ridiculously short to Left. Plenty of homers hit in Fenway wouldn't be homers anywhere else (popups that travel 310 feet to Left).

Ugh. Both Scherzer and Penny have pitched shitty the past two days. That's not what I like to see.

There are some that are true HR's. But Cano's definitely would've been either warning track worthy or off the wall anywhere else and Tex's would've been the same in a great deal of parks.

Cabrera has 2 aswell.

Shut. Up.:suspic:

I have 2 Jays on my fantasy baseball team, he is not one of them, if any Jays are gonna hit HR's I'd rather it be Hill
The only Jay allowed to hit home runs is J.P. Arencibia. He's my 3rd catcher. Of course I'm not playing him today, but since I'm playing Russel Martin (2-2 with a double) and Jorge Posada (2-3, 2 dingers, 4 RBI), I'm happy with that. And Justin, I'm talking about the team that is beating you in the WZ league.

nice to see one of "The Yankees That I Wish They Had In 2003" in Bartolo Colon. After the single/Homer last inning, he settled down. Good for him. Hopefully he can not give up any more runs.

You're beating me because the majority of my team is Twins, and the Twins looked absolutely pathetic the past two games, at least they're winning this one...(so far)

over the course of the season I'll be making changes...a lot of changes

I've noticed that it really would suck to be an Indians fan. Seeing all of these guys that wore Indians uniforms at one time or another somewhere else would suck. Martinez, Sabathia, Colon (when he was good), ManRam (when he was good), Lee. I know they've had some good players in return and they've had good years, but I was surprised to see all of these all-star calibre level players that have left the team in the past 15 years.

I have the feeling this game is gonna end something like 14-12. Both teams are hitting like crazy and neither pitching staff seems capable of shutting the other down.

Hey, Boesch did something the Tigers struggled at all last year: bring the runner at third home with less then 2 outs. I'll take the two more runs. Now hopefully we get a 1-2-3 inning.
