MLB LDS LD

Oshit, Perry is on the roster I guess. My bad.

Great pitching so far from Max. I think I leave him in there till a baserunner gets on, since he's getting to the bottom of the order. Should they get a guy on right away, though, I'm yanking him.

Might've left max in there one batter too long, but I do like Benoit coming in right now. Get your setup man out there in a tight situation instead of waiting and possibly losing the lead.

Sit the fuck down Jeter.

Benoit coming up huge in a tight jam. That's why he got that contract. 2 more innings guys, let's finish it (hoping the rain will stop).

Don't knock Fister. He was damn good today. He didn't get roughed up at all. He can't help is his bullpen gave up a bomb to a guy who is (believe it or not) thought of as a top-5 hitter in all of baseball. Yes Mega, Robinson Cano is already on that level as Cabrera/Pujols.

No, but he can help by leaving without leaving runners on base like that. I didn't say he didn't pitch well. He did just fine until the last inning which is when it was broken open. Unfortunately, that often matters. I was at game 4 of the ALCS last year where Burnett was on the hill. He actually pitched quite well with 3 runs over 5 innings and it was a good game. He had 2 outs in that inning when Molina took him deep for a 3 run homer. He gets that out and it's a good start as he would have given up 3 runs over 6. That's not what happened though as the HR made it 6 runs over 6 and that's a bad start. For however long you are out there, you have to finish and in both cases, the pitchers didn't and the game was lost for their teams.

That's not to say that I think Fister stinks or didn't pitch well for a while. I like him and he did his job for a few innings but he didn't hang on.

As for today, no freakin clue what's going on. I'm quite annoyed.

Alright I can take a deep breath now. All tied up going back to the D, like I figured.

Don't make it so hectic next time though, Valverde. Please.

Well the Cards are certainly doing a good enough job at hitting this pitching so far, but they can't pitch themselves. The Carpenter on 3 days rest idea didn't work out, either, going only 3 innings and allowing 4 ERs.

Well the Cardinals have knocked Lee out after taking the lead in the 7th and have runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs.

To think that we could be up 2-0 had the offense woken up before the eighth inning.

Ugh. CC better be CC tonight against Verlander.

A couple more runs in the bottom of the 8th would be nice. Not sure if it will be Verlander or Valverde in the 9th.

Valverde was 49 for 49 in save opportunities in the regular season, yet my confidence isn't high with him coming out.

I officially hate Written In The Stars now.

I got close to this point during WrestleMania. Now that TBS is using it between innings and when they go to a Game Break, I have long since surpassed that point, and despise the song.

at least the Yanks are pouring it on here. 10-1 Bombers in the top of the 8th.

And we got better then Good AJ today. He was beastly for 5 and 2/3. The Tigers bullpen was ugly. Yanks batted around in the 8th, thanks to hits, walks, balks, and Wild Pitches.

Heck of a series between these two.
best series of the 4 so far.

and it's officially going 5. Nova vs. Fister in the Bronx for all the marbles. If Game 1 was any indication (and I think it is), I love the Yankees chances. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers have Verlander on call, especially after the bullpen imploded like it did tonight in the 8th, when Coke couldn't get an out, nor could Al Bequerque couldn't locate nor properly step off the mound.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Sabathia would be on call too. Hell, even Freddie Garcia would be available. And maybe even Good AJ Burnett (hopefully not Bad AJ Burnett).

They wouldn't pitch AJ Burnett off of a one day rest thats just not smart. Nova has had a fantastic season thus far; the only thing Im worrying about is the young rookie cracking under pressure. If Nova can stay calm than I cant see the Yankees losing this game. Also, they wouldn't put CC AND Garcia in again thats just not smart. Putting in either one is risky and dumn either way.

If it's the 14th inning and they need a guy to give an an inning, you bet AJ would be out there. And it might end up being his throw day, so it'd work out.

And I'm not worried about the pressure possibly getting to Nova. He's already had the pressure of Game 1 (or 1.5 to be fair), and he's a damn good pitcher.

And it's not at all risky to put CC in. Both is, but again, it's all hands on deck. If they did throw everyone, remember that they do have a starting pitcher not on the ALDS Roster that would easily be put on in a pinch (Bartolo Colon). Remember the 2003 ALCS Game 7? Who was the hero of that game? Not Aaron Boone, but Mike Mussina, who came in in relief of Clemens with the bases loaded and nobody out, only to get out of that jam without a run and go 3 innings more of scoreless relief.

You won't see Garcia and you won't see AJ unless it's a dire emergency. However, CC is a VERY distinct possibility because he's good and because he's left handed. With only one lefty in the pen, the Yankees might turn to CC for a big out on someone like Avila if need be. Granted, you may not need that but we'll see. Rivera hasn't pitched in the series and could probably get 6 outs if need be. Robertson is fresh too so he could give you up to 2 innings if he absolutely had to. I'd say it's a 6 inning game and if the Yankees can get a lead by the end of inning 6, the chances look very good for the Yanks.

Hopefully Fister finds his groove early tomorrow and deals like he can. Not trying to make excuses for his last start, but it was anything but your average playoff start, with the rain delay and all (not that it caused him to not pitch as effectively as he had previously, but not starting the game with the leadoff guy may have thrown him off a bit). Plus the last time he got knocked around (2nd start as a Tiger) he bounced back very effectively. If he keeps the ball down (which Porcello had trouble with) he'll be looking good.

Should be a good game to cap off a good series.
