SICK ELECTRONIC JAMS

La Roux

Surprised I haven't brought them up yet. I love to see good electronic music hit the mainstream and get exposed to a wider audience of people who wouldn't normally listen to electronic music. This is one such band that hit the charts in the UK, and even had a few songs in the US...about a year after their release :lmao: The US isn't exactly ahead of the curve when it comes to radio play.

La Roux consists of a Eleanor Kate Jackson (vocals) and Ben Langmaid (keyboards). They split the recording, ideas, and direction pretty equally, though Jackson's presence on vocals has made her into the "face" of the band inadvertently. Anyway, here are a few of their most popular songs:

In For The Kill

Driving, fast, with clever lyrics. This is probably my favorite track of theirs, and the one that introduced me to the band.

Bulletproof

Probably their most famous song, it's even gotten radio play in the good old USA, hitting the charts and everything.

I'm Not Your Toy

Catchy, light, fun, with good lyrics and a great beat.

These three are both from their self-titled debut album. They've also released a compilation album of all of their musical influences, Sidetracked, and on it was included one song by them, a cover of The Rolling Stones song "Under My Thumb".

Under My Thumb

Let's get one thing straight: I absolutely love the original version of the song. Maybe I'm a sick bastard or something but everything about the original song is just great, from the lyrics to the sound to the vocals. That said, I love this cover. It's different, bringing to mind (for me at least) more mechanical forced brainwashing than an abusive relationship. Interesting stuff, really.

So yeah, that's La Roux. Maybe with artists like them and Calvin Harris, we'll make electronic music a dominant genre without making it garbage and watered down. I can hope for the day where it's not impossible to find an all-electronic radio station around here. Ha.

I have just been inspired by Doc's Sizzik Electronic Jamz, it must of been divine intervention that led to the bumping of the epic thread.

First off, inspired by Doc, I bring you a new Polish Ambassador remix track. It's the perfect combination of classic Polish funk mixed with his unique and one of a kind sampling style, and to anyone else who enjoys this track is 100% free over on the PA's facebook page, so check it out for this song and many more free jams.

Now for something a little different.

I had to upload these songs myself, just so I could bring a little joy to all the loyal fans of the ESP.

Future Rock

Future Rock sounds like there name, with a little less rock and a little more future. They're a live electronic act that consists of a Live drummer, keyboarder and a bass player, all of whom rock out hard with the synthesizer.

This is the kind of music you'd expect to hear at a summer music festival in Colorado, and absolute delicious live act that I was lucky enough to stumble upon while they where playing a free show in San Francisco.

They have a bit of that Ratatat feel to them, but expand a bit in a different direction, which why you can hear some similarities before getting lost in their own unique sound.

Torture is probably my favorite Future Rock track, and it's got a different vibe than most of their tracks. It also features some vocals, and it's the one of their tracks to do so. It does a great job of leading you into everything the rest of the cd has to offer.

JWGBS is probably my second favorite track off their album Gears, it's the end track and offers up some sizzling synthesizer action, the kind of synths that tug at your emotions all while rocking out to a smooth electronic jam.

The rest of the tracks on the album fall somewhere in between these two, both figuratively and literally. Overall a very relaxing and yet upbeat cd that I find myself enjoying on rainy and sunny days alike, just a great overall listening experience that ANYONE can get into.

I'm a newcomer to electronic music. I mainly like the darker, more gothic stuff.

The German darkwave group Diary of Dreams is currently the one electronci band I'm listening to most.

Play God

King of Nowhere

I'd post more but my comp is acting up.

Thanks for the contribution Nikkolas! It's always nice to have someone knew stop buy the ESP, hope you where able to find something you enjoyed in here. I here dark and German and I can't help but suggest Neuroticfish by way of the Docster of course.

Earlier this week, or perhaps it was even last week I picked up a new EP by Ribotto, one of the top electronic producers out here in the Bay, who is responsible for many awesome west coast collaborations as well as some of the most unique beats that anyone is putting out.

Ribotto takes Electronic music to a whole different level, in fact I'm not sure if there's an instrument that I haven't heard Ribotto sample before. He's also apparently put together a full live band to preform all of his most recent music, which is great news for me, as I'd love to catch a couple preformance's and see what his live band is all about.

As usual I was left to my own when it came time to upload this track, but I was more than happy to help a local musician spread the love round' these old internet.

The track is titled "Lasermothra" and is off his Lasermoth series of ep's, which just so happen to be my favorite series of EP's. We all know I just can't resist that saxophone, toss in a little trumpet as well and I'm in electronic music heaven.

Ribotto - Lasermothra

So I've got a couple Electronic tracks that I'm going to be posting today, both tracks are by previously posted Electronic Sampler Platter Artists. So If you're one of the few that actually listen and read what I post than you'll already be familiar with these artists and there music.

First off is a long lost Copy track off his second album Hair Guitar, one of my favorite tracks off his second CD, and I always wondered why it wasn't uploaded to youtube!? Well I took care of that problem yesterday and did the deed myself.

It's a very upbeat, high energy track. It's got a really catchy beat and a nice hook to it. The track runs about six minutes long, and there's enough variation to keep you more than interested the whole way through.

... And now for another long last track, somehow forgotten in the youtube shuffle, how this track hasn't been uploaded I'll never know.

I can Honestly say this is the track that got me into Vibesquad and dropped me into the deep end as far as Dubstep is concerned. Vibesquad takes the often stale and repetitive Dubstep genre and expands it into the outer realm of space. The funkyness, the great sample selection, the infectious drop and the ever changing sound is what sets this track apart from the rest. One of my original favorites that helped to mold my current musical taste.

So upon awaking this morning, I had the brilliant idea to abuse my powers and selfishly sticky the greatest electronic thread to ever grace the WZ forums. Actually, I just figured I might be able to convert a few more of you with this epic thread always sitting at the top of the page, starring into the depths of your soul, delivering subliminal bass messages, all while gently massaging ear holes with golden cue tips, dipped in the blood of Jesus Christ, blessed by SSC.

So yeah, that's just a little insight into my unique thought process.

Ever since the release of the new Ribotto EP a couple weeks ago I've slowly been getting back into Ribotto's deep DEEP DEEEEEP catalog of music. His music touches upon all electronic genres, and he does it purposely as well.

I decided to upload another song of the line of Lasermoth EP's, as it's probably some of my favorite electronic music that features live instruments, with such pristine electronic production.

Ribotto - Flying Spider

Now I hate spiders, especially flying ones; but this song proves to be the exception.

With the horn, trumpet, piano and a couple other live elements infused into this little electronic funk-fest it makes for one entertaining track, that like most electronic music, gets better with each listen.

Solar Fields

I'm reaching into my bag of tricks and bringing something a little different to the table. I've introduced you to all kinds of electronic wonders in this thread, but I've yet to post any of my Ambient collection. So today I'll change all that and give you a little introduction into some of the most chill electronic music you'll ever gonna hear.

Solar Fields was the first Ambient artist I was introduce to, by way of Bluetech. I heard a few songs on Pandora and decided to snag a few CD's off the interweb. After a couple listens I was hooked on the chill ambient vibes, perfect for doing anything, especially relaxing.

Solar Fields - Sol

This was the first track that I heard on Pandora, the six minute mark is pure bliss, then the immediate funky dub beat followed by a second round of bliss. To this day it's still one of my all time favorite ambient tracks.

I find you get more out of the ambient experience if you listen with head phones on, there are just so many little sounds that you don't hear with computer speakers and such.

Now here's another Solar Fields track off the album Movements, probably my overall favorite ambient album to date.

Solar Fields - Discovering

This track is a trip beginning to end, with brain massaging basslines and an unbelievable array of sounds that capture the mind and don't let go.

That's two great Solar Field tracks off the album Movements, an excellent album to seek out if you looking try some ambient music. I'll probably bring a little Aes Dana to the table next, or possibly a little Asura or maybe even some Carbon Based Lifeforms.

Enjoy the chill tunes brosefs!

Well, I pretty much received zero response to my Solar Fields post, which is a bit disappointing. The music is really relaxing, easy to get into, and makes for perfect background noise to anything you can imagine. While I understand the reluctance to listen to a 9 minute song, you'd be surprised how fast the time fly's by, but anyways, I'll be moving on from the ambient genre for the time being. Mainly because of this amazing new CD I picked up earlier this week, I just wanted to push blame onto the 3 or 4 people who actually read this thread. :)

I was checking up on my new alerts Tuesday morning, and there wasn't much to behold there, so I ventured over to the Electronic music section of the itunes store to check out the new electronic releases for the week. I decided to listen to the samples, and I'm glad I did, because I was immediately hooked by the funky syths and amazing dance beats.

Bag Raiders

So as I'm sure you can make out by the large bold text above, this due from down under goes by the name Bag Raiders. Now as a Charger fan I hate the Raiders, but I was willing to make an exception in this case.

Apparently, they found some success back in 2009 with this overseas chart topper.

Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars

Great little track right there, you can see why a song like that garnered such mainstream success. Great beat, original, funky - basically everything you're not going to find in mainstream American music.

One of the main reason I even decided to listen to the samples in the first place was the Cut Copy reference I read in the review. I'm a pretty big Cut Copy fan, but if Doc didn't introduce me to the ways of Calvin Harris I'd probably still be sitting here in the dark, and I definitely wouldn't have pulled the trigger on downloading this album. So thanks to the chain reaction started by Doc almost a year ago I am still discovering new electronic music in a genre that I was practically clueless too.

Bag Raider - Snake Charmer

Not only do they put out great synth pop singles, but there instrumentals are top notch material, like the above song "Snake Charmer", it's literally an ever changing roller coaster ride of excitement and sounds that leave you gasping for a breath of air by the time the ride is over.

Now for the best part. ANYONE, and I do mean anyone can send me a simple little PM and I will send you a PM, with a link to download this CD 100% free, in high quality 320 bit rate - pure audio pleasure. Same exact link I used to download it, completely safe and virus free, for all you worry warts out there.

Here are a couple more tracks for the road, in case your sitting there, contemplating whether or not you want to listen to innovative, free, enjoyable music.

There you have it, three more tracks to feed your ears with, and trust me, they're gonna enjoy the meal.

Quite the busy week I had last week, barely anytime to share some of the new fruits to fall from the 2011 tree. Hopefully I can make it up to y'all this week with a delicious platinum platter of electronic tunes to choose from.

First off, I'm a little disappointed in myself for not bringing the new FREE Polish Ambassador EP to the attention of all my electronic junkies. Even though he was recently signed to 1320 Records this most recent release is under his own independent label.

This release follows in line with the most recent works of The Polish Ambassador, basically funky remixed glitch-hop with an abundance of west coast flavor.

Outkast - Wheelz of Steel (The Polish Ambassador remix) - Homeboys in Outerspace: Episode 1

This is the closing track off the 5 track EP, and it certainly goes out in style, It's one of my three favorite tracks off the EP and it's probably a toss up between this one and the opening track. I chose to post this one based on the fact Outkast was probably the most popular of the remixed artists on the EP.

Again, this music is 100% free, a gift from the music gods if you will. The Polish Ambassador is the ideal artist if your looking to make a smooth transition into the ever evolving world of electronic music.

So today I bring you yet another underground electronic artist posting up right here in the San Francisco Bay, and I have to say that California/The West Coast is making a case for the electronic powerhouse capital of the world. Now I know that there are many country's in Europe that specialize in all kinds of Electronic/Dance music and they've been widely regarded as the electronic capital of the world. I'm just saying, show some love for the best coast... I mean West Coast..

Back on track here, I've been wanting to bring today's artist to you guys for a good while now, but as usual, I was stuck with the task of uploading the videos myself.

After finally finding the inspiration to upload a few songs last night I actually ended up loading the entire CD.

Now let's get to the artist at hand, he's a one man act and goes by the name Timonkey, and this west coast gangsta has been at the helm for quite a few years, releasing every kind of electronic track known to man over the last few years. with each one of his CD's handling a different electronic genre and slowly progressing to incorporate the previous genre with the new one.

The CD at hand is Molecular Forest, an absolute delight that ranges from early dub roots to the west coast glitch-hop sound made famous by such acts as Mimosa and Ample Mammal. You also get a nice IDM/Downtempo aftertaste, production is tight and the songs deliver meaning without lyrics, which in my opinion is the ultimate goal of any instrumental electronic artist.

Timonkey - Upfullness

Upfullness is the opening track on Molecular Forest, and really sets the pace for a very enjoyable CD. Right off the bat your dipped into an incredibly happy beat mixed with classic reggae, dub, and a horn sample that releases endless endorphins upon contact with your eardrums.

Timonkey - Fembot Serenade

What a great beat this one is, totally reminds me of Classic Polish Ambassador, I'm talking first two albums Diplomatic Immunity/Phantasmal Farm classic Polish Ambassador. Such a great tune, and so different from the opening track, yet it feels like it belongs. Just listen to the differences between these first two tracks and you can really hear the range of different electronic influences that go into every Timonkey track.

Timonkey - Molecular Forest

Aww Yeah, title track time, as well as track three, batting cleanup for this powerhouse electronic album. Yet again you're going to notice that while staying completely electronic, it's a totally different sound than the previous two songs. Now we're starting to enter a bit of that West-Coast Glitch-Hop, but not entirely, because he's also introducing a bass element that wasn't there before. It's border line dubstep, but it's clearly not; and that bass line if clearly something that would be used in a downtempo IDM track by Solar fields. Yet he manages to combine all these different kinds of electronic sounds and have them fit together with such harmony, it's really quite an amazing task. You'd almost expect this to be a compilation mix with all these different sounds, yet it's one man bringing all these different elements together; and it's easily one of the most enjoyable listens I've head in a while.

Timonkey - Funk Me

Last track I'm adding to this post, and yet another one completely different that the rest, and would you look at that, this just so happens to be track 4. That's right, the first four tracks of this CD, in order, and not one track even remotely sounds like the other ones. This one holds such a delicious funky ass bassline that I literally thought I was listening to a Dam-Funk track. After listening to the first three, you say there's no way he can continue down this path of electronic enlightenment and then Funk Me graces your ear hole, and like that you realize you've had your mind blown. Well, that's how it was for me anyways.

The reason I'm stopping at track is simply because track five is a full blown dubstep track, far better suited for my dubstep thread. The CD may only eight tracks, but each and every one had much time, effort, and love spent on it. You can really tell when a musician is into his work, and that's the case with Timonkey, you can tell he loves making the music he puts out, and we all benefit from that.

So much great music in this thread, and I'd be willing to bet that less that 1% of the posters who post music have even clicked on this thread, let alone actually listen to the music that I post. I understand that the field of Electronic music can certainly be intimidating at times, but that's no reason to skip over one of the best, most well written, ground breaking threads to ever grace the WZ Music forum; so please but your electronic music bias aside and dive into the unknown, you might just like it here.

Now that I've gotten my standard rant in (which no one will probably read) it's time to move onto the music, I haven't even been picking up new tunes over that last couple weeks and I still have so much back stocked music that I've been meaning to post, so much so that I haven't even decided what I'm posting in this thread yet.

I guess while I'm still thinking of what I'm going to post I'll alert the masses to a brand new Polish Ambassador CD that's on the way, with a 4/19 release date I'm pretty sure I know what I'll be doing when I get this CD. Off the top of my head I think this is the 6th studio release from the Polish/Ample, not including free remix CD's nor including the free EP that was recently released. This CD is also going to be the first Polish release with a Major Label attached to his name, and I couldn't be more excited. Being able to watch the PA progress from being a funky underground bay area beast to a now highly touted electronic musician who never left his roots or fans behind.

Finally! The Doc has come back...home!

I think I'm going to start keeping this thread updated with the new sick tracks from Overclocked Remix whenever they come out or I hear a great new one. I mean, all the tracks are free and great pieces, so why not spread their love around?

So, yesterday, a new track was released by PrototypeRaptor, entitled "Nullification". Here's the Youtube link to it:

Damn! This song hits hard and heavy, very dirty and gritty but at the same time produced well. Very original and awesome. I've never heard anyone take the source tune (the original dungeon music from Zelda) and do something like this. The guy has released seven pieces, and the rest are just as awesome, though different from this piece. Check them out! This guy is really damn good, and if he continues this quality, or better yet improves, we could be looking at the next OCR legend, right up there with guys like Jivemaster or Beatdrop. Great stuff. I may even post his other tracks in a later post.

And again, everything on Overclocked Remix is free, and it doesn't JUST have electronic music (though I'll only be posting the electronic ones here of course). Just head on over to http://ocremix.org and submit your ears to bliss.

Ah dammit, I couldn't just leave you with just one. I HAVE to post this! Another PrototypeRaptor track, different and yet the same.

Now I think this track drags on a little bit too long, but other than that it's awesome! It sounds to me to have some influences from Kavinsky for sure, especially if you listen to Kavinsky's Pacific Coast Highway and then this. That isn't to say he's not made this track his own, because he has. The Cheetahmen 2 theme has been remixed by Japanese artists so many times, and yet PrototypeRaptor manages to make it his own. I love the dancey beats he's put into it. While I think it could have been shortened it's still damn awesome. Check it out.

(Also, if you look at PrototypeRaptor's body of work you find that he's incredibly diverse in his styles. I just listened to a piece of his that was just orchestral, no electronic at all, and it completely blew me away.)

Finally! The Doc has come back...home!

Aww Yeah... I can hear the people..... Docky, Docky, Docky!!!

I guess while I'm still thinking of what I'm going to post I'll alert the masses to a brand new Polish Ambassador CD that's on the way, with a 4/19 release date I'm pretty sure I know what I'll be doing when I get this CD. Here's just a little follow up to my last post about the most recent TPA album. It ended up dropping a week early (no complaining from me) and I've probably enjoyed it a good ten times through by now.

The album is technically a follow up to the Ample Mammal release last summer; but since TPA was signed to a major label it just makes far more sense for him to release everything under the more famous name, that being TPA. Most tracks on his most recent release, Future, Sex, Computers, do fall under the the Ample Mammal mo, but there are definitely a few, and one in particular that just screams Polish Ambassador, and that's the track I'm bringing to you today.

Easily my favorite track off the album to this point, and I would have no problem at all fitting this one into a Best of TPA cd. This track features the Ample Mammal glitch style, and then out of nowhere a bucket of synthesizers is dumped on top of you, and your only chance of survival is to dance your way out.

Damn, that is one great track.

Speaking of great tracks, here's an OCR one from around 2008, entitled Realization.

The person who made this is called Siamey, another artist I don't know much about, but I wouldn't mind checking out after this. The source is from Final Fantasy VIII, which happens to be one of my favorite FF games. I suppose at its core it's really a simple electronic piece, but after the quick oboe break at around 1:35, it really starts to be interesting and pick up. The melody and hook are catchy and it seems like it'd be a fun song to listen to when running or driving down a street on a nice day.

I think it shows that sometimes, simple works. This isn't really the most creative piece, but it's great fun and tightly produced.

Oh yeah, Overclocked Remix also has a Twitter that tweets about past and newly-released songs regularly, along with great source tunes from videogames. If you're a fan of music and have a Twitter, follow @OCRemix.

So it's been a tough new year for Electronic music so far, it seems that even the field of underground electronic music is starting to become watered down with stale beats and just an abundance of unoriginality.

So while the search for new, original artists hasn't been all that successful this year, at least I can fall back on the abundance of artists I discovered over the last year and a half, and one of those artist just dropped a brand spanking new EP, and EP that I enjoyed enough to upload a couple track to the ye old youtube.

You don't have to venture to far back to find this artists profile, just a few posts actually, and one of the only artists that I actually discovered this year; though all the music I discovered from him was from past years, which falls right in line with my watered down theory... Anyways, the artist is Timonkey, and he released a new four track ep a few days days back, hopefully meaning there is a full length on the way as well.

Timonkey - Lazer Love

This one is my early favorite off the EP, and with good reason, it's got everything I enjoy from my electronics. Good beat, good synths, good rhythm mixed with that hometown Bay Area sound made famous by artists like Mimosa, TPA & Bassnectar.

Here is the other track I uploaded from the new EP, this one is the opening track, and it's definitely an above average production. There's nothing too complicated about this beat, it's kinda funky and features a kinda catchy little vocal as well.

I'll probably get around to uploading the other two tracks later today, especially if I get some kind of feedback on the music... but I'm not counting on it.

Peace & Enjoy.

I visited the Music Forum today and what do I find a rant on how Electronic Music is underated. Funny because personally in my play lists I always have electronic songs mixed in. I personally have a liking to electronic music because of the various arrangments that artists use in the genre. Also SSC I read your entire post for the record. I think that Electronic music needs to have more fans because it can be far greater then some of the crap people listen to. I don't know why but working out to electronic music is one of my more favorite things to do because of the beats displayed throuhout it. Now connecting to my first sentence, I think that this under appreciated genre of music does not get the publicity it needs however on a lot of people's playlist I'm sure you'll find a little electronic.

Bounce.

Calvin Harris has released a new single, and it premiered on Radio 1 (as you can tell). This is a recording straight from the radio show. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. I really like the melody and beats, but the vocals are a bit wishy-washy for me. That said, I like it more than Awooga, and I'm sure after a few repeated listens I'll grow into it. The synth work is Harris' normal catchy stuff, and even though this song is definitely leaning towards the more mainstream side of things you can definitely hear his signature style.

It's obvious he's leaning towards to big stadium feel with his new album, which is interesting since we haven't really heard that from him (Though "I'm Not Alone" flirted with it a bit). This release definitely gives me more hope than Awooga did.

Nice to see my new apprentice posting in my favorite thread, without me even asking, major brownie points right there.

The thing about electronic music nowadayz is it's practically all over mainstream music, though not credited at all. Pretty much all main stream pop artists have started using heavy electronic influenced beats, unfortunately it's like combining the least creative parts of pop/electronic, creating a cluster fuck of bad times and tunes. Some would argue that having some electronic influences in the main stream is better than nothing, not me, I want to have my cake, and eat it too.

Bounce.

Alrighty, thanks for bringing this one to my attention Doc. This pretty much fits into exactly what I'm talking about, and while I definitely like Awooga more than this one (so far), as Doc said, both tracks go for that big time stadium feel; but I'm not going to pigeonhole CH into this category just yet, as his music has always had that little extra oomph. The light that attracts the moths so to say; but obviously he's starting to take it a step further this time around, releasing this track featuring Kelis is all but saying this album is going to be more mainstream.

I will admit that after listening to both the new CH songs that he has stayed true to his sound for the most part, and it's pretty clear his sound cant be contained to just the underground, as much as I'd like it to be; but that said I'm hoping he makes the smooth transition, CH certainly has the skill to do it... Hopefully we don't have to wait six months after the UK release to find out.

OK, I just listened to Awooga again and I actually like it. I think the reason I didn't like it at first was because it was so mainstream when compared to his other stuff, but after my third listen I can definitely say that you can hear his style in the music and it's actually quite enjoyable and catchy. I'm starting to have more hope for his third album, even if it will be a lot more mainstream than his others. I think Calvin Harris has the talent to pull it off, not alienate his past fans, and gain new ones. If new CH fans means more pure electronic music being popular, then I'm all for it.

That said, I fear that a lot of the new bands using electronic influences will miss the point and use the shit parts of electronic music like what has been happening. One of the worst offenders of that has to be The Black Eyed Peas' song The Time, which is just garbage in my opinion, an unlistenable repetitive mess of a song with terrible vocals, annoying instruments and beats, and no flow at all. That is the kind of song that people think of when they think of electronic music and that's just sad, because it really is the worst the genre has to offer.

On the subject of electronic influences in mainstream music, I know many will disagree but I really think Lady Gaga is helping put the GOOD parts of electronic music on the radio. Her songs are usually catchy but creative, her tunes and instruments are pleasant to listen to and focus on melodies instead of the same beat played again and again, and she really has a set of pipes on her, making for some great vocals. To top it all off, she writes all her own stuff, so you know it comes from the heart. She may have a bad rap for many reasons but I really dig what she's doing.

That said, I agree with SSC and can only hope for the day that pure electronic music gets played on the radio regularly. It's always refreshing when a good club song like Better Off Alone (by Alice Deejay) or Blue (by Eiffel 65) gets airtime, but I want more.

I completely agree, and there's nothing wrong with bringing your skills to the mainstream, and I also agree that CH has the skills to be a very successful mainstream electronic artist. As long as it's Calvin Harris bringing his music to the mainstream and not Calvin Harris bringing Mainstream music to his underground fans, if that makes any sense.

When I see CH I think Deadmau5, other than them both being electronic artists there music is or at least was completely different from one and other. Dm5 has become more and more mainstream over the last couple years, and his music has suffered; though his album sales and fans continue to grow. While his last CD was listenable, it was easily the worst album he's put out to date; and there in lies the problem with mainstream, it takes a special artist to stay true to themselves and there music, all while being able to reach a crowd of more than a few thousand people. I'm hopeful that CH can do what the Dm5 couldn't, and that's bring a more underground electronic sound to the surface, without compromising too much.

True that, easily the worst offender, and not only do they offend; but they give electronic music such a bad name. I've literally had someone tell me the BEP where their favorite electronic act. I will never be able to wash that comment from my brain, their brand of electronic music is just that, it's electronics that have been void of emotion, as if a computer crated the loops and beats that they use. There's no human emotion put into their music, no creativity and I'm not even talking about the lyrics, which is a whole different story all together. There SB half time show this year was the shit that overflowed the porta potty, and ever since then I've noticed that shit flowing all throughout the mainstream, like a fucking plague.

Believe it or not I was actually going to commend Gaga for her use of electronics. She manages to have that studio produced electronic sound; but she evokes emotion, and is able to do it with just the beat alone. Factor in her unique/original lyrics, and even though it's not always up my ally, I can still appreciate many of her songs. As mainstream as songs like Poker Face are, they don't abuse the electronics or the beat.

Her songs basically can be broken down like this, if you take away the vocals you still have a good beat. You take away the beat and you've got good original vocals. Essentially two successful tracks in one, and in part why's shes become so successful.

That said, I agree with SSC and can only hope for the day that pure electronic music gets played on the radio regularly. It's always refreshing when a good club song like Better Off Alone (by Alice Deejay) or Blue (by Eiffel 65) gets airtime, but I want more.

That'll be the day Docster, and hopefully we don't have to wait to long. My local cable provider, Comcast, has three different electronic music channels available on the tv, all of which provide nothing but underground electronic music. I've managed to discover so many artists through these stations alone, it makes me think that if there was an electronic music station for me to listen to as a teen I could have head a ten year head start, as I've always been a fan; but the fact still remains that it's hard to come across electronic music unless your paying extra for your radio. Something that wasn't even an option for me back in the day. So while at least there are many more outlets of expression for electronic music, we've still got a ways to go before your favorite stations starts catering to the electronic crowd.

I've been on one helluva music binge the last couple days, pretty much ever since responding to Doc in this thread I've been a man on a musical mission, a mission to bring you some guys sounds unheard by anyone, and beats that will make your balls dance.

We'll be starting off with the very best kind of music, and that's free music. I've brought bounties of free music to the table in the past, and when I say free I'm not talking about illegal torrents and such, I'm talking about people who make their music and then release it to the masses, absolutely free of charge. In the past I've brought you such artists as Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic and TPA, well the trend of free music is growing, and one of the pioneers of this formula, Pretty Lights, have started up their own record label, dedicated to releasing the dopest free tunes around.

Pretty lights currently have three acts signed to their personal label, and I'll be giving a quick little spotlight to band Paper Diamonds, who I believe where the first group signed under the Pretty Lights record label.

Believe it or not, I didn't even discover Paper Diamonds through Pretty Lights, but through another artist who decided to hop on board with the free music trend. This also isn't the first time that this particular artist has lead me to an abundance of new music, as this artist also got me into such acts as Copy & The Polish Ambassador; and in case you haven't caught onto who I'm talking about, the artist in question is Eliot Lipp, and I've been a fan of his music longer than most electronic artists I listen to.

Just a couple weeks ago, Lipp released a free CD of all his classics, remixed by some of the best electronic artists going today. I downloaded this CD without even bothering to look at the track list or remix artists, as I knew even if it was a bunch of no name DJ's they'd still have awesome material to work with; but much to my surprise it wasn't a bunch of no names, but rather some of my favorite artists going today... and this is where the story comes full circle, Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, Paper Diamonds & Mux Mool. These are just a few of the artists who dropped amazing remixes on this CD, this led me to check out the individual work of some of these guys, like Paper Diamonds, which in turn led me back to the Pretty Lights website where I discovered the free Paper Diamonds CD, just waiting for me to download it, free of charge.

So for anyone who made it through all those letters, it's time for a little bit of music, I'll start off with the Paper Diamonds remix of the Eliot Lipp track Sandcastle.

Now for the Pretty Lights Remix of the track It's Time to Leave. I love this track, it's about as far as you can take a remix before it becomes a completely different track all together.

Big Gigantic does it proper right here, taking a similar formula from Pretty Lights and basically making a whole new song out of the remix. The Saxophone boner I get from Big Gigantic has me worried that I might need to call a doctor if this erection doesn't go away in the next thirty minutes.

I figured after all that typing I'd throw in a fourth track, just for shits and giggles, and because I had to upload this track, so it benefits be in multiple ways. This one is the Mux Mool remix, he was given one of my favorite Lipp tracks to remix, The Outside.; and his remix is just a fucking instant classic, keeping the best parts about the original, and just making it that much better.

All these tracks are completely free to download, so if you like just one I recommend downloading the whole thing for free and giving it a go, probably the best free album I've downloaded this year, It's so good it'll give the CD's I've payed for a run for their money.

So I was going to add this portion to my post yesterday, but didn't want to scare off more people than I already have with my lengthy music posts.

To continue the Free Music trend that I had going in my last post I will now finish spotlighting Paper Diamonds, and a quick recap for those who didn't want to venture through my last post, I discovered Paper Diamonds on the Eliot Lipp remix CD I downloaded free of charge; and after a little bit of research I came to discover they where signed to the pretty lights music label and had a full length FREE CD just waiting to be downloaded over at the Pretty Lights website.

Again, this isn't some kind of marketing ploy to, this is how they do business. All music produced under there record label is released free of charger, and if you think for a second that your getting second rate music because it's free, think again. If anything your getting better, higher rate tunes because they people producing them actually care about the music they make and aren't trying to make a quick buck off the popular trend in the music industry.

Now, time to get to the music before I get carried away with words again.

First off is a track entitled So Precise, you can really hear the influences Pretty Lights have had on these guys; but those aren't the only influences available to the naked ear, I'd say there's some major Ronald Jenkees influences as well. It's almost like if Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, and Ronald Jenkees had an threesome, and ended up producing a bastard child that they decided to name Paper Diamonds... or something like that.

One more track, because you know I'm not going to leave y'all hanging with just one of these suckas. This next track seems to be the collective favorite for most fans, I don't know if I like it as much as the first track I posted, but most everyone else seems to, so I'll leve you to make up your own mind.

Remember, all the music you've heard in the last two posts are available to you absolutely free of charge, so if you like what you hear I'd suggest you hop on it like a bong hit, w0rd.

I'm back to scratch the electronic itch that's been bugging me the last few days, and today I'm bringing some of the most accessible electronic music to date. I'm talking mainstream accessible with out the mainstream, I'm talking about lyrics that weren't written by a 40 year man for a 13 year old girl to sing' I'm talking about real fucking music here, I'm talking about Papadosio.

So this is by far and away my greatest discovery of 2011 and I already know it's gonna be hard to top, Papadosio combines all kinds of musical genres into one unique genre exclusive to them. There two biggest genre influences would have to be Rock and Trance, similar to Infected Mushroom in that sense, but they sound nothing alike. There rock influences are more grateful dead and there psychedelic influences are that of Psy trance circa early 00's, combine that with practically every sub genre located within those two base genres and you've got yourself a heavy dose of Papadosio.

They've got three CD's to date, all of which where free at one point in time, but as they've grown in popularity so has there demand, so there CD's are no longer free; but let's just say that there free if you want them to be, it's certainly no task trying to get free music when some bands literally make it an option for you, in a non legal sort of way. Basically if you want the torrents, shoot me a PM, if your down to support then they'll charge you five bucks a pop off their site, well worth it in this day and age.

I ended up torrenting their most recent CD and purchased the original two for a grand total of ten bucks, well fucking worth it; and since I own all three of their works of art I'll give you a little sample off each CD.

We'll start off with the most recent CD from Papadosio, the one that hooked me as a fan. This one is simply an instrumental, and instrumental that'll knock any lyrical mainstream artist out the fucking water. I've uploaded the album version so you don't have to listen to some dudes live version that he shot with his fucking iphone.

Papadosio - Night Colors

Now for a little number off their middle CD/EP, this one features one of things I dislike most about music, and that's lyrics. I hate being forced to relate to someone else's thoughts, when I can just releate to my own during an instrumental; but that's mainly because my brain has been saturated with shitty mainstream lyrics throughout my entire life. Thank god for the intelligent lyrics of Papadosio otherwise I may have lost all hope for ever being able to enjoy lyrical work ever again.

Papadosio - By the Light of the Stars

That track has pretty much everything you could ask for from any kind of music, hopefully one of you out there has the fucking balls to listen to this music and enlighten your mind like never before.

Alright, onto the final track, this one is the closing number off their first full length CD, another instrumental with layers on top of layers. The old riddle wrapped in a mystery right here, you can listen to this one a good ten times in a row and you'll still get different experience every time you listen.

Papadosio - Polygons

Well, dude, uhhh.... There you have it. Another full helping of original music that, lets be honest, you wouldn't have discovered with out me. It's all good, because I require no thanks, just that you listen, enjoy and spread the word about these underground artists who produce music that doesn't conform to mainstream music standards, but instead blows them the fuck away.

You don't have to go back too many posts as I'm just going to continue with some Eliot Lipp for now. I noticed that a good chunk of his music was missing from youtube, so being the good Samaritan than I am I decided to upload a good chunk of his music that was missing, so that the masses could rejoice over groovy electronic beats and funky robotic breaks.

I'll start us off with one of my favorite EPs of all time, I got it for like four or five bucks over a year ago and it was practically a full albums worth of music, and fucking amazing synth laced music at that. In fact it was this EP and his album Peace Love & Weed 3D that launched my love for music to a whole new level.

Eliot Lipp - The Days - The Days EP

The self titled track wasn't my favorite at first, but it's one of those emotional growers, it's set to a pace that seems to inspire reflective thoughts on life and such, almost like riding an imaginary bike down a timeline of your life.

Now for my first favorite track off the EP, this one is filled with all kinds of happy fantastic sounds as well as a synth line that will hit you out of left field and leave you wanting to reply the track just so you can get hit again.

Eliot Lipp - Magnetic, Pt.2 - The Days EP

I'm gonna cut it off for now and just continue with a few tracks off the Peace Love Weed album during a later time, but I've been binging hard on the Eliot Lipp so I may just be back later today to give everyone a second helping.
