Wow, looks like I definitley have some tracks, and some new artsits to check out. I got into Dubstep very recently, basically the beggining of this summer, and I fucking love it. The first two artists I started with were Skream and Benga, both of whom are fucking masters, I'll post some songs I've been bumping lately.
Aye, here be a few more dubstep songs I've been listening too.
This first one is called "Summer Days" by Skream, I'd never really heard something like this from Skream before, but I liked it. It's got a real jazzy, smooth feel, and it's perfect for when you're sparking a bowl.
This is one of my favorite current Dubstep tracks, featuring a sound clip from the Governator himself. This track has all the proper elements to a nasty Dubstep anthem, devastating bass, lethal drops and a fucking sound clip that rapes all that stand in its way.
Well, it would seem after a quick glance through the old music library that there are plenty of unshared Dubstep gems just waiting to be released upon the WZ masses.
Now just like with every other kind of music, there are usually different ends on the genre spectrum, with Dubstep it's more of a triangle, with Bass on one point, roots reggae/dub on another point and melody on the other point. Now I know your going to say that every genre uses a god dammed melody while composing music, and yes, you would be correct; but in a genre like Dubstep, that relies so heavily on bass, many Dubstep artists will toss the idea of having a decent melody in their song in place of heart stopping bass.
Well after that little dubstep explanation using my own imaginary triangle chart you can probably guess that I'm going to be showcasing an artist that focuses on melody more than bass.
The artist today goes by the name Starkey, and his specialty would definitely be adding an amazing melody to light base and keeping you hooked the whole song, I didn't get into Starkey's music untill a few months ago, with the release of his second full length album Ear Drums and Black Holes. I was impressed to say the least, and went out and added the rest of his work to my library.
Finally, onto the fucking Dubstep, I'll give you my favorite tracks starting with a couple off his most recent album, and as usual, I'll take you back to his earlier work to help you get that true listening experience.
There you have it, six Starkey tracks that will never go out of style, my favorite out of all the tracks is between 11th hour(first spoiler tag) and Spacewalk(second spoiler tag). You want Dubstep that tugs at your emotions, you fucking got it, throw these six tracks on your ipod and let the adventure ensue.
So, I remember promising everyone something in the album art thread, and I'm here to follow through with the delivery.
He is one of my favorite local artists, note that the bay area is a hot spot for all kinds of musical development, though most notably in the Hip-Hop-Rap community; but don't think that the Bay's Hip/Hop vibe doesn't spill over into other tasty genre's of music, and multiple sub genres in the electronic field.
So the artist at bay (see what I did there) goes by the name Heyoka, and fuses all kinds of different electronic influences into his experimental electronic and dubstep tunes.
Now, for all the haterzzz out there, and I know you have your reasons, this is different than any kind of Dubstep out there. Gone are the simple loops and catchy hooks that you may be used to when listening to dubstep; but the ever present bass and barrage of background bleeps along with the soft piano keys and other instruments that make cameos throughout all his albums.
Onto the music I say. I'm going to try and give you guys a taste of all three full length albums, well one of those albums is a combination of two older EP's, but it's still full length, so fuck it.
So these are three if his earlier tracks, off that double EP/full length CD I was talking about. Heyoka's sound was highly evolved from the beginning, as far as layering and use of different instruments though his specific sound is still a bit raw on this first release.
Now we shall move on to the first Heyoka album that really caught my attention, It was last summer and I was in the middle of my heavy dub phase. I was looking for something similar, but something different, you know how it goes. So one day I stumble upon one of his songs, do myself a little musical research, and BAM all his music is in my library.
So these songs hold a special place in my heart, at least more than the other ones do. These could be considered my all time favorite Heyoka tracks, though my taste is ever changing.
After giving those a listen again, I can definitely confirm that those three tracks are absolutely fucking savage, some of the best Dubstep tracks I've ever laid my ears upon.
Onto CD Three, released earlier this year, in February I do believe. This is the CD where Heyoka finds his preferable sounds, and now that he found that unique Heyoka sound it's time to expand upon it on the third CD. The bass is used more sparingly, but still present in all of the the tracks. You also get that 90's Hip-Hop funk and fresh synthesizer lovin'. All in all I would say that this CD is pretty equal to Gate Code as far as quality and quantity goes.
More great hybrid Dubstep songs from Heyoka, he seemingly puts the petal to the metal and doesn't look back. His tracks are high energy and complex with a taste of bass for all those junkies out there.
Now, unfortunately, all I can do is give you description of his fourth and most current CD, but a description is what I'll do. So Heyoka's 4th CD entitled Cosmic Boogie continues the trend of expanding on an already tight sound. The production is crisper, and that's hard to believe, the unique sound is still ever present, and the bass is back heavier than it's been on the last two releases. I'm sure I'll be able to edit some some of the new tracks into this post in a month or so, once they're uploaded to youtube.
Finally, all of my Dub Heads should make their way over to the cage and support me, SSC, in my quest to become the NXT NWS Mod; because we all know nothing goes together like music and marijuana.
I can't believe you guys are going to make me quad post the Dubstep thread again!
Anywayz, you know I don't give a shit, I do it for the money mother fuckers.
Alright, new Skream album out this week, and thank the good lords I was able to torrent the son of a bitch the same day it came out. This CD slowly moves away from Dubstep, though there are still a few heavy tracks on there, and moves more into the direction of experimental.
This isn't the first big time Dubstep producer to release a new CD this year that seemingly leaves it's Dubstep roots behind it, of course I'm talking about the Rusko OMG release a few months back. Though like Rusko's release I really enjoyed Skream's new work too.
So this easily has to be my favorite track off the new album, not much bass at all, and not to much of a Dubstep sound either, but I really like it, and if this is the new direction Skream plans on taking his music than count me in.
Just wanted to stop in and post a quick song for all my WZ Dubheads.
So Mimosa dropped a new single on Wednesday, and I must say, it's definitely up to par with all the other work they've released so far.
No artist does a better job of combining Dubstep and West Coast Glitch-Hop, in fact, Mimosa does such a good job that he really blows all the competition out of the water. Mimosa has defined the West Coast sounds, and has continued to build upon it.
As usual, for your pleasure, I present the new single from Mimosa, entitled Your Love.
Here is the track on the backside, or if we doing it digital, track 2.
Word of a mimosa full release has been floating around these parts, I can only hope it comes to fruition.
So I picked up a bunch of dubstep mixed tape CD's to see if I could discover some new artists, and when I say picked up I mean pirated the mother fucking internet like the gangster than I am beating up old ladies and shit for their Dubstep tunes.
So after successfully getting my filthy claws all over these CD's I had to give them a listen, and not to my surprise I found a bunch of great Dubstep. I know a lot of people think all dubstep sounds the same, and I can see that point of view, but the way I see it just means there's a whole lot more music for me to choose from, and I'm practically guaranteed to like it all.
So after one listen to the Eesti Dubstep CD I was hooked, but one stood out from the rest, actually, they all stood out from your standard heavy bass dubstep; but this one in particular just touched a soft spot with me, so without further hesitation I deliver da goods.
I picked up the new single by Babylon System this morning, and am currently listening to is as I type this up, it's basically your typical Dubstep track that features that mind numbing bass, along with a sound clip, though I'm not exactly sure what movie they took this audio clip from, but If somebody does know please do share. The beat is pretty solid, and it features a little more melody that you'd normally expect from Babylon System.
The B-Side features a track from Dubstep artist and producer Matt-U, this track is definitely on the darker sounding side of Dubstep and bangs a bit harder than the Babylon System feature track. There's a nice bass drop about half way through the track, with yet another audio clip that I'm not familiar with. All in all for the two bucks it was more than worth it, I'm always happy to add some quality Dubstep to my ever growing musical library.
So the B-side track isn't up on youtube yet, so I'll just toss different Matt-U track your way, cause you know SSC aint gonna leave you hanging like that.
So I just got around to purchasing the latest Benga release today, as he is a stable in the Dubstep community, and his portfolio of work has warranted me spending my hard earned cash on anything he releases, and he has yet to let me down, so here we go.
The A side track is entitled Stop Watching, and features an intense rhythm that differs from most of Benga's Dubstep tracks. It's pretty simple, it's got some decent bass, nothing to heavy. Overall it's a quality track, and it's a nice changeup to his normal style.
The B side track is entitled Little Bits, and is similar in style to the A side track, which again, both differ from Benga's normal style of Dubstep. These tracks are definitely focusing more on a powerful rhythm and seem to leave the heavy bass at home, which is not a bad thing. I know there are a lot of Dubheads out there who would call it shit because it lacks that crazy wobble, but it works, and I'd like to see Benga incorporate some heavier bass with this style rhythm in the future, cause I think he's onto something.
With the help of myself, and no one else, I was pointed in the direction of an up and comer who goes by the name of Cookie Monsta. Being the music fiend that I am, I just love it when I come across new tunes that I can get behind, end even more so when I come across heavy fucking Dubstep that not only rings my ears, but knocks up the neighbor with its wall bending bass.
This is the ultra heavy shit that Dubstep heads absolutely love, you don't even have to turn the volume up to hear this bass, in fact play this song just one time, and you'll be hearing the bass for the next two days. Not only does this song fucking WOMP, but it has the perfect compliment to it, and that's a fowl, offensive sound clip, music to my fucking ears.
I've just discovered my second fresh dubstep artist, with the help of myself, yet again. Not only did I discover two new artists tonight, but I managed to find multiple torrents for all their music, which is quite difficult to do in the Dubstep field.
My newly discovered artist goes by the name Doctor P, and I had previously come across a song of his probably about half a year ago, though opted not to purchase it, I guess it was just the universe at work, knowing that I would be able to pick these tracks up for free at a later time.
Doctor P does it all, a true Dubstep master, he seems to have taken all the good qualities from the best in the game, guys like Rusko, and Caspa, as well as dub legends like Scientist and King Tubby. He can bring the bass, he know how to produce a proper drop, and his beats are fucking hot. Just check out these fine tracks.
This is the track I saw on a mixed tape a while back, I came o so close to making the purchase, but didn't want a mixed bag of artists.
These two songs are both the fucking boss sauce, color me impressed with a chronic green crayon.
Well, somebody's gotta post in the music section, I men shit, no fucking posts in a 24 hour period. I can't be the only fucker who listens to his fair share of music.
Onto a little dubstep track that I stumbled upon a while back, but just recently started to play on a regular basis. This is a nice original little piece of work here. More funk than bass, but more bass than bullshit, if you catch my drift.
Gemmy is definitely more on the melodic side of things, but with the proper subs you wouldn't have a fucking clue, but I guess you could make Over the Rainbow bang hard with the right set of subs, speaking of which, I'd like to see someone try that shit.
Here is the fucking dubstep track, though I may as well just post it in Hilary Clinton's Vagina, cause nobody's ever gonna look in there either.
No shame here mother fuckers, I don't mind making twelve posts in a row in a thread I created, more power to the awesomeness that is SSC; that doesn't mean I still don't want you fuckers to post in here, cause I do, so post some fucking dubstep tracks for me.
I just got into a little know dubstep due known as the others, well their actually pretty well known in the dubstep community, and I had just been waiting for a few good torrents to come along before I was able to hop on the others bandwagon.
I must say, that this bandwagon has been nice and cosey too. Again, the others just use a simple, basic formula to creating good dubstep. Good beat, check. Heavy bass, check. Audio clip from something fucking awesome, check. Yeah, that's the formula as I've explained a few times before, and it fucking works, especially if your into the dubstep genre, because it basically means endless combination's of dubstep tunes.
Here is the track that I've gone back to a more than a few times, because of the steps where followed above.
Here's a heavier track, louder bass, with a really heavy wobble, plus an audio clip for shits and giggles.
I decided to catch up on some of the dubstep tracks released during the summer music season, and first on my list was the release of Herbert/Collins Booster by Giant.
It seems that most of my favorite dubstep producers only seem to be getting better with age, as well as more creative with the dubstep genre.
The track Herbert is absolutely amazing in every way a dubstep track should be. A quick check of the SSC list and we can mark off Heavy Bass, Savage Beat, and fucking brilliant audio clip, and I don't even really like family guy, but the Herbert audio bytes are fucking hilarious.
The second track, Collins Booster is pretty solid for a B side track, it definitely capitalizes on the current trend of incorporating classic disco in with dubstep style bass and heavy beats.
I've been slowly getting into dubstep. These songs sure are addicting. I'm still new to all of this, but I've been listening to these two songs a lot as of late. Thanks to Mike Song for introducing me to them

The beat is too sick. I love it, even though it might not be that much dirty. It actually puts me in a relaxing mood.

This one is dirtier than the other one. It's absolutely sick and I love the build-up to the bassline. Brings pleasure to my ears.
New Babylon System release this week, one of the many dubstep artists that I blindly follow, and with good reason as I've never been disappointed with a Babylon System release, and with the current one it doesn't look like I will be any time soon.
This is one of those rare situations where I actually prefer the B-side track to the featured A-side. That's not to say that the A-side wasn't good, because it was, but it didn't really stand out to much. Other than having the unique dubstep sound exclusive to Babylon System it was just kind of similar to their previous work, but that's not a bad thing.
Now, for the B-side track.
This track was fucking hot, a little less bass than the A-side track, but way more upbeat. Plus this track features a great horn sample, and as any fan of dubstep knows, the horn can go along way when used properly in a dubstep track. This track still features plenty of bass, but more of the wobbly kind, rather than the ultra heavy stuff. The audio clips are nice, and overall I much prefer this track, not to take anything away form the A-side track, but this type of dubstep is just more my style.
I was recently introduced to a Dubstep artist who goes by the name of Subvert.
Now anyone who is into the bass heavy side of Dubstep, this artist is for you. Subvert features very heavy, and very wobbly bass, literally three minutes of orgasmic bass that if played to loudly may in fact knock up your neighbor across the street.
I purchased two tracks because of the lack of available torrents, but I was very impressed and I'll probably be going back for a second helping any day now.
The first track I purchased was entitled Dirt Nap, very heavy bass with a few good audio clips spread throughout, and not your usual Dubstep style, but more of an ever evolving sound, as opposed to three minutes of the same drum loop.
The second track I purchased, Wiggle, was easily my favorite of the two tracks, and I immediately gave it the coveted itunes 5 star rating. Again, heavy bass galore, but this track is far more complex than the first track Dirt Nap, and features a little taste of trance and classical transfused with the heavy bass and just a touch of the Organ as well, to really blow this track out of the water.
I just skimmed through the Dubstep thread and realized I have yet to post any Reso, who along with Rusko and Benga were a couple of the very first Dubstep artists to ever grace my stereos with there delicious bass.
The track above was just released on itunes this morning, so I picked it up right away and gave it a listen. It was much funkier than his previous work, but still features mad wobbly bass and a great beat. It easily jumped into my top three Reso tracks with its originality and infectious beat.
Now for one of the classic Reso tracks that got me hooked on Dubstep.
I enjoy every element of this out of control song. Crazy ass beat and absurd audio clips, loud fucking bass, multiple builds and drops. Simply everything you want from a good Dubstep track.
I picked this one up hot off the Dubstep presses this morning, and I've been playing it all day. It's simply infectious, and a delight to the ears of any Dubstep fan.
This track picks up on the current dubstep trend of sampling dance and disco while maintaining that heavy bass sounds, making the track more of a dance track as supposed to an Electronic track; but that seems to be the current Dubstep trend, and I don't mind it at all. Especially if the dubstep scene keeps pounding out tracks like this.
Flux Pavilion has only recently become one of my favorite Dubstep producers, but with his high energy beats and unique style he really stands out form crowd, and that's always a good thing when it comes to Dubstep.
I was alerted to the free Dubstep track through the old facebook, which I have found to be a pretty successful place to browse for free music. If you're a fan of any type of music, whether it me mainstream or underground I suggest adding you're favorite musicians on facebook, and watch the free music start piling up.
It's been a while since I've heard any Dubstep that I'd consider worthy of adding to my collection. Well leave it to Bassnectar collaboration with Datsik to revamp by ever growing Dubstep boner.
Bassnectar & Datsik - Yes
Great track, that features some top notch sampling, a pinch of roots reggae, and that womp attack that every bass head craves. Bassnectar is one of the best in the game, and Datsik is no longer the talented up and comer, he's now a full fledged Dubstep hero, and the collaboration with Bassnectar further cements his status in the Dunstep community.
I've got the most delectable Dubstep treat for everyone today, you don't even have to be a Dubstep fan, or a fucking music fan for that matter. As long as you have a sense of humor and still laugh at the hide yo kids hide yo wife jokes than YOU WILL ENJOY THIS.
This is basically the Dubstep version of everyone's favorite Antoine Dodson song. As any avid Dubstep fan knows, audio clips and Dubstep go hand in hand, kind like std's and prostitutes.
This had to be easily one of my top 5 favorite Dubstep tracks to come out this year, this track literally brings some freshness back to one of the most overplayed songs/clips of the year, and while the song is funny, it still bangs fucking hard and is as respectable as any other Dubstep track out there.
Time for the first Dubstep track of the new year, even though this track is like a year old, it was just released yesterday on the American itunes. It literally takes a fucking year to get some of these Dubstep tracks listed on the American itunes store, fucking ridiculous.
This is a great Dubstep track, great bassline, extra funky sounds, a nice change of pace with the different wobbles. Very upbeat track, gets the adrenaline flowing. This track was ahead of it's time when it was released a year ago, and is still one of the better recent tracks that I've heard.
Stenchman - Unicorn Leprechaun Hairbrush
I'm hoping the genre of Dubstep takes another innovative step forward this year, there has been an influx of good dubstep over the last year, and I'm hoping a few of these guys go from good to great.
More great Dubstep coming out of the incredibly deep Bay Area electronic music scene. I was just introduced to a brand spankin' new artist straight out of San Francisco, who dropped his first Dubstep EP early last week.
Now I just got around to finally listening to this EP yesterday, and what a surprise, I loved it. Anytime someone brings something new to the Dubstep scene, they're doing something right. The genre is so simple, and to many can become quite repetitive, which is why it's so great that there are so many up and coming electronic artists who keep on changing what you think Dubstep is, all while staying true to the very basic elements of dub.
Helicopter Showdown - The Wrestler
Hmmm, I wonder what drove me to pick that song.
No, but really, what a fuckin' awesome Dubstep track. Macho Man + Ric Flair sound bytes, does it get any better than that. Not only are the great sound clips, but they're used to perfection. The Macho Man clip right before the first bass drop is off the charts, the Flair Woooooo is masterful and the beat comes together flawlessly, leaving you wanting more. Thankfully there are 4 other original works of art to satisfy the urge for fresh Dubstep on this EP, all of which stand out from one and other.
It's been far too long since I've blessed this thread with new Dubstep, and even longer since anyone else has dropped some knowledge on me, so it's time to bump this bitch, and bump the bass while you're at it.
I just did a quick glance through this thread, and much to my surprise I have yet to post any music by PANTyRAID, which is quite the shame, I promise I wasn't intentionally holding out on you guys.
I'll start off with one of the hottest Dubstep tracks going right now, and imo one of the best dubstep releases of the season, the track is titled Testarossa and was just released a couple weeks back on the most recent PANTyRAID ep.
... and now for one of my favorite classic PANTyRAID tracks, I purchased there first full length a little over a year ago, during the height of my Dubstep phase; and I absolutely loved the world influences that they incorporated into there early work, and not so much into there more recent work.
This one is probably one of my top ten all time favorite Dubstep tracks, you don't really get Dubstep like this these days, so savor the flavor and sap this bitch like a Friday afternoon 40.
