So I thought I would create a general thread where all types of Electronic music could come and unite in harmony.... or something like that.

I know that electronic music has many genres and sub genres and so on and so forth, so I figured this would be a good place to post any and all types of Electronic, Ambient, Down tempo, Techno, House, Trance, Electronic Rock or whatever else you can think of.

I know with all the members on this forum, there must be some Electronic music loves just lurking in the shadows waiting to post some Electronic gold in this thread. So everyone come forth and post the Electronic music you hold dearest to your heart.

I will start this party off with psychedelic trance artist Hallucinogen, who has two fantastic Psy Trance C.D.s to his name, 1995's Twisted and 1997's The Lone Deranger. Two C.D's that are a staple of the Psy trance Genre. Here is a little taste of the Hallucinogen greatness.

A delightful taste of Hallucinogen for the Pallet. I have plenty of electronic music to keep this thread alive. Hopefully we can get this thread rolling with tons of great Electronic tunes.

Can Benassi be included here?

Of course, please post all your Benassi favorites, I would say most, if not all DJ's fall into the Electronic music category.

I'll continue with some more random Electronic music. I first heard Mux Mool on Adult Swim, one of those songs that plays in between shows. I'm not sure what to really categorize it as, but its definitely Electronic.

Mux Mool - Night Court

Mux Mool - Hog Knuckles

Mux Mools crazy sounds always send me on a trip, this shits pretty out there, but its very well composed, and if you've ever watched adult swim at night than you most likely have already heard some Mux Mool before. If you like this stuff than he has plenty more to offer.

The Polish Ambassador

I don't really know how to describe this, but it's amazing, I'd say it brings the electronic hipster out in me. His album Phantasmal Farm is one of the best Electronic albums I've heard, and I'll be sure to do a review on it as well.

Here's a little taste, I'd put his music up against anything out there, it really hits home with me, some times I feel like its a soundtrack to my life. Anyways, here ya go.

A nice healthy portion of Polish Ambassador, and all of his music really is this good.

Ratatat

I can't believe that with all the music I've been posting I have not gotten around to posting any Ratatat. I first heard of these fine musicians four years ago, right when I first started puffing the magic dragon, to say I fell in love would be an understatement. This music blows my mind every time, without fail.

They have thee studio albums, and they're all awesome, I'll post some work from all three albums. Enjoy.

Fuck Yeah, I love Ratatat. This music is awesome, listen to it all, then get yourself some more.

Lotus

Lotus, an electronic rock band, with some funk and jazz fusion mixed in. The started to form in 1999, but didn't finish adding members until percussionist Chuck Morris joined in 2001. There are 6 members all together, All of them play instruments and half of them are also responsible for the samples and electronic percussion.

Though they started off mostly as a rock group, they quickly changed their focus to instrumentals, and focused more on jamming than composing. The result is a one of a kind listening experience. Lotus has a way of blending rock and electronic in a very classy way.

There is even a little taste of The Grateful Dead, or maybe even Phish mixed into the sound of lotus, truly a one of a kind listening experience. I'll leave you with a wide variety of tracks to choose from, you cant go wrong so I suggest just listening to them all.

Lotus
Spiritualize
Nomad

Off their first album nomad, I was surprised to find a music video to go along with it, anyway amazing song, don't be scared away by the length.

Lotus
Ball of Energy
Nomad

Another track off the first album, just a nice relaxing tune with a few samples thrown in for flavoring.

Lotus
Scrapple (live)
Oil on glass/feather on wood

Could only find a live version of this track, I'm having quite a go trying to find lotus videos on the old Youtube, anyway this is there more evolved sound off their most recent album, a few similarities to Ratatat in their most recent work.

Plenty more lotus to be had, but I'm ending it with three tracks today, If you like this than you will enjoy all their music. If your a rock fan and your looking for something a little bit different, than this is perfect, you don't have to stray too far from your rock roots, but still get to taste the other side. I highly recommend Lotus to any fan of Electronic or Rock music.

Well, I listen to a lot of electronic music, but I don't know the names of the different genres. The way I figure out if it's electronic music is if someone I know listens to it and immediately labels it "techno".

So, I don't know if this is the kind of stuff you're looking for, but...

NEUROTICFISH

Neuroticfish is a band that I absolutely love. These three songs affect me the most, in how the music and lyrics all flow together. I can really immerse myself in the dark sounds of Neuroticfish, and it's some excellent rainy day or night music. Hell, it's great anytime music, but I enjoy it the most when I'm feeling emotional. They're great to run to with your eyes closed.

Unfortunately, Neuroticfish doesn't exist anymore, but goddamn is this music awesome. I've never heard another band like it. If someone could point me to some, I would be eternally grateful.

Now for something a little more mainstream:

CALVIN HARRIS

I had actually never heard the first song until a few minutes ago, where I fell in love with it. Anyway, the third song is from his first album, I Created Disco. The second song is from his second album, Ready For The Weekend. And I have no idea what the first song is from.

Calvin Harris is fairly popular in the UK, with many of his videos hitting the charts. I like to think he's helping bring real electronic music into the mainstream, which is just fine with me. However, Americans don't really know him. Hopefully this changes, as I'd love to easily be able to buy his third album when he releases it.

His two CDs have different sounds. I Created Disco is more of a dance and electronic CD, while Ready For The Weekend focuses more on smoother trancey type songs, but both are phenomenal. Definitely recommended, especially since it's easy enough to find the CDs.

Excellent work, much thanks for your stellar contributions Doc, the Calvin Harris tracks have me contemplating picking up one of his C.D.s and giving it a go, and as for the Neuroticfish, the vocals weren't my favorite, but I still enjoyed the beats very much, and would have to give a few more tracks a listen before I could make a final judgment call.

For today, I'm going to post a couple of very popular singles by Deadmau5, this falls somewhere along the lines house music, and definitely has some techno roots, all in all its very upbeat and catchy, he makes it very easy to get those infectious beats stuck in your head all day.

Deadmau5

Deadmau5

Both tracks are highly infectious and may have you dancing throughout the night, he has more music available than you could shake a stick at, if that makes any sense at all.

Good stuff, my man. Everyone loves Deadmau5. Seriously, I have yet to find someone who doesn't.

Anyway, for my next few posts I want to focus on music from a website called OverClocked Remix. OCR features music of all sorts of types, and the artists arrange music originally found in videogames. Obviously I will be posting Electronic ones. And the best part is, it's all free.

Disco Dan

Disco Dan was one of the first artists on OverClocked Remix I went out of my way to follow. Blue Lightning is a song I show to those who think electronic music isn't real music. I love the laid-back yet energetic feel, the whole dancefloor vibe I get while listening. Good stuff.

http://ocremix.org

Next I'll probably focus on chthonic or AE, maybe Jivemaster.

Excellent site doc, anyplace spreading free music to the masses is okay with me! The songs themselves where high quality, well produced, mini electronic symphonies, with great builds and even better drops. Thanks for posting Doc, and a public thanks for the Calvin Harris introduction, I was a little skeptical at first, but I'm full on hooked now.

So I'm posting this next electronic group for you Doc, their style is somewhat similar to Calvin Harris' electro/synth pop music, I think you should enjoy these fellows.

Cut Copy is an Electro pop group from Melbourne Australia, and I'm surprised with all the Aussies on here that I was not alerted to their talents sooner.

The best way to describe their sound is like a more eighties electro driven Franz Ferdinand, this type of electronic reaches a wider audience, with words and stuff, so do yourself a favor and check em' out.

Good stuff, SSC, I really enjoyed that. I looked up a load of Youtube videos of them afterwards. I might even have to get their CD.

Anyway, part 2 of my Overclocked Remix focus...this next artist was the other one I used to follow and download every song he did. I love his heavy style. He is also known to branch out to do some Dub and more chill stuff as well, so definitely worth checking out.

JIVEMASTER

Launchface

Waztelands

Lava Reach

Particle Brain

Keep in mind that a lot of songs I'll be covering are pretty old, since when I first heard about them...they were new. That was several years ago. However, they hold up well and are still great tracks. And hey, they're free.

Next up: Beatdrop.

BEATDROP

Overflow

Catapult

Strip Mine

Dazed & Destroyed (feat. MC Mouse The Mighty)

I love Beatdrop. I only discovered him a few years ago (I originally started going to Overclocked Remix in 2002) when he released "Catapult". I was instantly hooked. I love his dark and heavy stuff. I can really get into heavy music for some reason.
He is still releasing remixes to this day, unlike several others, so that also bumps him up a few notches in my book. Sadly,he hasn't collaborated with MC Mouse The Mighty since "Dazed & Destroyed". Nor has MC Mouse The Mighty released any other tracks, at least not on OCR. Tis a shame, but oh well.

EDIT: Just found out he has a Myspace and Last.FM full of original music. Awesome.

EDIT EDIT: And you can download several of his albums for free from Last.FM!!

EDIT EDIT EDIT: And his CD, Revolution, is awesome.

BEATDROP - Everlast

Everlast

Frigga

Blowback

I know I just covered Beatdrop, but I wanted to talk about his album Everlast for a bit. When I listen to this album, the first thing that comes to my mind is "rock opera". Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but it seems to be the world's first instrumental electronic opera. I don't know what it is about this album, but it's just epic in every way. The music is all topnotch, and they seem to fit together to form a big picture...I just don't know what kind of picture it is just yet.

Everlast and another Beatdrop album Revolution are both absolutely fantastic, with his album In The Dark being merely OK. They're all free on LAst.FM though, so there's no reason not to download them.

If you can only get one, though...get Everlast.

Looks like I've been slacking a bit in the music department, no worries though, looks like Doc has been doing A fine job holding down the fort. I'm glad you enjoyed those Cut Copy songs, their C.D. In Ghost Colours is only 6.99 on the old itunes, so its quite a steal.

I just picked up the second Calvin Harris C.D. at your recommendation, and to my surprise I think I may like it more than the first one. The Rain, Stars Come Out, and Blue are my new instant favorites.

So the first song I'm going to post was inspired by the last batch of tracks that Doc posted. When he brought up the term Rock Opera I knew just what type of electronic goodness I would be posting next. These next tracks from Infected Mushroom give off that epic rock opera feel, wrapped up nicely inside an electronic shell of epicness.

Infected Mushroom
Heavy Weight

Tell me what you think of this Doc, Its about as epic as it gets, when I think electronic rock opera this is what I think of, this is one of my all time favorite songs, I can see you respect the longer song so please give it a listen all the way through and let me know your opinion on it.

Infected Mushroom
Bust a Move

Along the same lines as heavyweight, epic rock samples with a delicious beat, and a fucking awesome sound clip to beat. If you liked heavyweight than you cant go wrong with Bust a Move

I've got another group similar to Calvin Harris and Cut Copy but a little on the darker side with the lyrics and the beats, but still just as good, if not better than Cut Copy. I should have time later to post them.

I'm glad you enjoyed the tracks Doc, If you liked Heavyweight than you'll dig these two tracks without a doubt.

I'll start off with a couple more Infected Mushroom songs, as the seem to blend rock and electronic in quite an epic fashion, the last two tracks are really just a taste of Infected Mushroom.

So both of these tracks are heavy on the rock samples, None of this is Real explodes with electronic rock awesomness, and the builds and drops are to die for, the build up on Vicious Delicious is guaranteed to get the blood pumping.

I've got some more electronic synth pop/alternative stuff for my next post, like Cut Copy and Calvin Harris, with a bit of a darker edge, some really good stuff.

So today we shall travel back into the world of electronic synth/pop, and for me that means another trip down under, this time to Sydney Australia where we find the home of The Presets, one of my favorite groups going right now.

The juice from Wiki.

The Presets are a Sydney-based Australian duo, consisting of Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes. They first met in 1995 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where they were both studying.[3] In September 2005, they released their debut album, Beams, to positive critical response.[4] Their second album, Apocalypso, was released on 12 April 2008. The album was a commercial and critical success, winning the ARIA Awards for "Best Dance Release" and "Best Group" and becoming the first electronic act ever to win the coveted "Album of the Year" award[5]. They also won the 2009 APRA Awards for "Best Songwriters Of The Year"[6] and the 2009 ARIA award for Best Dance Release for Talk Like That.

I'll post some of my favorites from both albums, and I have quite a few favorites, because its all so good. Its got a bit of an 80's vibe too, which only ads to the awesomeness that is The Presets.

So that's just a little taste of The Presets, If your diggin' these tracks than picking up both CD's is a must, no boring filler tracks, and no bullshit. Killer lyrics and beats and delicious synths and keyboard work, The presents is a must, for everyone.

I just got a pretty sweet CD over the weekend, Magic Monday by Michna, I wake up every morning with the urge to just lay in bed and listen to it all the way through. I'll try to get on later and post it's greatness for all to hear.

I LOVED Infected Mushroom, SSC. Some epic stuff right there, just a treat for the ears.

The Presets were really good, too. I'll have to keep an eye out for their CD. Good stuff.

Now, this is a band I have loved for the longest time. Their stuff all sounds live, and is some incredible Stadium techno. Their lyrics are a bit ridiculous, but they make up for it with their epic feel and infectious beats.

SCOOTER

Posse (I Need You On The Floor)
We Bring The Noise!

The Question is What Is The Question?
Jumping All Over The World

Weekend!
The Stadium Techno Experience

Scooter is a band that always, ALWAYS gets me pumped. There is only one volume to listen to them at, and that is max. They have some great party tracks, some awesome catchy songs, and are just excellent. I love them.

Oh, SSC, I am quite shocked that no one other than us have posted in this thread, as I KNOW we have some electronic lovers around here. Oh well. On with the show!

Ian Van Dahl/AnnaGrace

Castles in the Sky

Will I

Ian Van Dahl (now known as AnnaGrace) are an electronic group based in Belgium. Just about everyone I know has heard of "Castles in the Sky", and they've achieved popularity all over the world. They started with three members: Christophe Chantzis, Erik Vanspauwen and Martine Theeuwen. Later, Annemie Coenen replaced Theeuwen and Peter Luts and Dave McCullen joined the group.
After everyone except Luts and Coenen left, they changed the band name to AnnaGrace.

I really enjoy their danceable music, and for some reason I prefer vocal tracks over instrumentals. Definitely a great band to listen to when you feel like moving around.

Senior Doc, I must say that Castles in the Sky was totally epic, and the video was a total riot. I've got some fresh electronic vocals for ya today too, though not nearly as danceable as Castles in the Sky, but you can certainly still bust a move to this stuff.

So, last night a posted a song by Greenskeepers in the bar room, and to my surprise, it was moderately successful. So I figured I would give them a more official spotlight, to show off their full range of musical talents.

So First I'll start off with the same song I posted last night, Lotion, which is one fucking creepy, yet super sleek and sexy song, I was hooked after listening to 30 seconds of the song and picked up the 2 disc C.D, easily the best decision I made this week.

Greenskeepers
Lotion
Polo Club

I've fallen head over heels for this song, I love it.

So there you have it, Greenskeepers, their pretty awesome, especially if you dig the 80's like I do, or if your just a fan of good songwriting with electronic goodness sprinkled throughout, check em' out, you wont be disappointed.

I gotta contribute to this thread now, I absolutely must.

I know I'm the hip hop guy, but I'm bringing my world, to the electronic world. And how I'm doing that is posting about Wu Tang Clan: Enter The Dubstep. I'm a huge fan of the Wu of course, and RZA has done something similar to this when he teamed up the Wu with a bunch of underground artists like Aesop Rock. This time he teamed up with some Dub step producers to create a mash up of epic proportions. What's cool about this album is that it's not focusing on the actual vocals of the songs as they used previously used lyrics from other albums, but it focused on the actual production of the tracks.

This was tight, RZA clearly wanted to give Dubstep some love with this album. Some of the Dubstep producers that worked on the album: Scuba, Parson, Trillbass, Dakimh, DZ, Rogue Star, Stenchman, Datsik. So if you're a fan of Wu Tang, Dubstep, or both, I highly recommend it.

My favorite tracks from it:

Haha, this is awesome, I actually have 1 track off this CD, and Its one of my favorites, the production is amazing, and I'm a Huge HUGE Dubstep fan, though its probably on page 2 now, this is clearly a reminder that I need to give the Dubstep thread the old bump treatment.

This one is produced by Datsik and Excision, two awesome producers, I'd take Datsik If I was forced to pick, but I just started to get into Excision, and I have a little spotlight for both of them in the Dubstep thread.

Here they are together, for your enjoyment.

So I'm re-upping with a little more more Polish Ambassador, I don't think I made a point, to make a point just how much I love the Polish Ambassador, His robotic funky electro beats bring joy my face and warm my heart, without fail, every fucking time. Now I posted a few tracks way back in the beginning of this thread, so we'll dive into some of his deeper cuts, which are just as amazingly awesome as the other PA songs that I posted, so with out further ado more Polish for your Pleasure....

Polish Ambassador
Infiltrating the UN
Diplomatic Immunity

Epic track off is first album, each track is a mini layered electronic orgasm for your ears, and that is no lie people. They say if everyone just smoked a joint we would have world peace, and while I agree with that statement, I feel it hold true for the Polish Ambassadors music.

Polish Ambassador
Portal Hopping
I found Him now I must kill him

This is the only track off his third album I could find on youtube, its a good one but it's like my 6th or 7th choice off that album, which goes to show how awesome the Polish Ambassador is.

This music is really made for anything, and I mean anything, its also the type of music that rewards you the more you listen to it, I've seen him live 3 times, and this man is awesome, talk about an intimate musical setting, after this man kills it on stage, he's out their mingling with the crowd, taking pictures, and having a good time. Fall in love with the Polish Ambassador, you'll never look back.

Richard Vission & Static Revenger Starring LUCIANA 'I Like That'

The Song was The backing track for the Ad for Australia's Got Talent. The Segment of the song that they played was quite intriguing so I decided to investigate further.

I really like the song. Its got a nice beat, The Audio effects are good as well.

SSC, I have fallen in love with The Polish Ambassador. His stuff is so musical and incredible. Allow me to rip off the name of a Scooter CD and proclaim his music as The Ultimate Aural Orgasm.

Today, I'm going to focus on what used to be my favorite band.

Captain Jack

Captain Jack

Drill Instructor

Dream A Dream

My Generation

Captain Jack is a band based in Germany, featuring an American soldier (for real) and a Cuban girl. Franky Gee hated the army, but liked the drills, so he incorporated it into his dance music, and this is the result.
Captain Jack is made of infectious, danceable beats, and unique styles. Much of his music has been featured in the Dance Dance Revolution videogame series. I loved the guy.
He passed away in 2005, but his son continues to use the Captain Jack name. Sadly, his son's music is very different from his dad's.
This music is just awesome to dance to and to get pumped up to.
