**MERGED** Summerslam 2012 Discussion- KEEP IT ALL IN HERE!

I think he's gonna interfere in the Ziggler Jericho match. WWE was teasing Orton having a program with Jericho before he got suspended, and then they teased a program between Ziggler and Orton before Orton was suspended. I don't know whose side he'd be on, but I think this is where Orton goes.

However, don't be surprised if Orton is kept off the card as punishment for his suspension. WWE might want to take the payday away from Orton.

Orton said he isn't working Summerslam. Unless they are keeping him off the card because they have some sort of angle planned, its most likely his punishment for getting suspended.

They are still booking him strong and they still gave him a role in one of their WWE studio films. I guess they figured not booking him for SS was the way to punish him.

That is not the real reason I guess.

There is not enough time for Orton to be pushed into a feud or a title match for Summerslam. I would not like a main-eventer like him to be pushed into a useless filler match and a feud like the one against Kane at Wrestemania 28.

Sandow vs. Clay added to the card

This will be a match that I look forward to. Both superstars have their share of momentum; Clay's taken just the one clean loss while Sandow has yet to lose, though it's not yet a noteworthy streak.

A win here ultimately helps out Sandow more than the win would do for Clay. I think we're past the point of WWE attempting to make Clay look powerful by squashing every opponent. Clay can take a loss to the hot Sandow and be alright.

Although, I can see Sandow simply brutally attacking Clay in the same manner as he did on RAW this previous week and creative writing him off with an injury seeing as Clay is reported to be starring in an up and coming WWE studios film.

Regardless, glad to see the two of them in an actual feud.

With the way ppvs are booked lately I was thinking that Sheamus v. Del Rio could go on early. Ziggler cashes in his MitB and then faces Jericho later on where Y2J baits Dolph to put the belt on the line. Since their feud has been about "winning the big one" Jericho walks out the Champ!

Thoughts?

Yeah, thats a good point you might be right. Their really is no one significant enough left to work with him and not enough time to build a storyline.

We r not gonna have Del Rio VS Sheamus ( YES YES YES YES YES YES )
i think Barett will return this monday and face shaemus at SS

POSSIBLE CARD

1) Sheamus Vs Barett : Barett wins hence starting a potential rivalry wid Sheamus
2) Clay Vs Sandow : Dont really care
3) Daniel Bryan Vs Kane: The can sumhow involve Charlie Sheen costing Bryan the match
4) Ryback squash match
5) Del Rio Vs Mysterio
6)Ziggler Vs Jericho
7) Miz Vs Christian Vs Rhodes (IC Championship)
8)Cena Vs Punk Vs Show WWE Championship

If all this goes smoothly this could actually b the 25TH ANNIVERSARY of SUMMERSLAM

sheamus vs barrett: meh, i think itll be sheams orton and rhodes in a triple threat tbh, or maybe del rio instead of rhodes cos hell try to weasel his way back into the match

sandow vs clay: likely to happen, but sandow will probs just get disqualified or something

bryan vs kane: gonna happen, sheen will probs be ref or enforcer or something like that

ryback squahs: gonna be ryback vs mahal i think

del rio vs mysterio: doubt this will happen. del rio is probs gonna try and get into the whc match, and mysterio is looking like a match with miz

miz vs christian vs rhodes: likely miz vs mysterio, maybe add christian, but rhodes wont get another match

ziggler vs jericho: already gonna happen, probably ziggler win to take hm to main event status

cena vs punk vs show: expect the rock to do something before or after the match id say

hhh vs lesnar: undertaker wont return. it would be awesome, but i doubt it will happen

Brock Lesner vs triple H w/ hbk in his corner.
i did care about this match until triple h kicked brock lesners ass. which is completly fcked up considering hhh needs to be the underdog. and from my magic ball, i know lesner is going to attack hbk tonight. preventing hbk from being is his friends corner. - HOW DID I KNOW?

Super Cena vs a big fat bald piece of monkey crap vs a guy who plays dress up and act like im a wrestler while i dont have the respect to wear a suit to the hall of fame.. TBH, i dont give a shit on what the fuck happens. the only good unpredictable thing that would happen is if either big show wins or if mark madden gets laid. preventing 2 predictable ass ''superstars'' from winning.

Sheamus vs ADR
2 words....
BROGUE KICK!!!!!!!!

Kane vs Bryan Danielson(not daniel bryan)
God i hope D-bryan wins. i love kane, but daniel bryan needs this. he hasnt ad a good win since turning heel. And his matches have been prety lackluster since coming to wwe. his only good matches are with sheamus at EC and dolph ziggler at bragging rights 2010.

Y2J vs mr.ziggles

Please wwe give them more than 30 minutes. they have the chnce to steal the show. please let on great wrestler wrestle another great wrestler in an actually wrestle. dont let them wrestle for 10 minutes like all your matches and then call it a ''hard fought battle''.

and plus a few squash matches, Miz retains IC championship. and a PTP vs Truth in paradise. PTP without AW= bankrupt.(pennies and pennies..)

The point of this thread is to find out if your still interested in this years summerslam. I was interested but then i lost it. I still have interest because im gonna watch it for free:p

are you still really interested for the ''second biggest PPV''

Why is everyone so down on the Summerslam card all of a sudden?!?!

-Almost every title is on the line
-You know Sheamus & the WHC are going to atleast make an appearence/suprsie match/etc.
-There is no wasteful divas match on the card

The only thing that is bothering me is that Damien Sandow still doesn't have a match! But I never expected him too before RAW 1000 & the Brodus storyline.

I think this can be an amazing Summerslam!

And I am going to stay positive.
-Big Slow suprised me at Mania 25 in the Triple Threat
-Lesnar/HHH will be intense either way
-Jericho/Ziggles can steal the show!
-I think both Rey/Miz & Kane/Bryan will be average AT WORST!
-And from the looks of things atleast one title will change hands that night! (Tag Titles & US HOPEFULLY! I wouldn't mind an IC title change &/or a Ziggler cashin either!)

The card seems good. Glad that they have put some effort in and I would say I personally care about Lesnar/HHH, WWE title match, WHC title match, Kane/Bryan (especially if they include Sheen) and Jericho/Ziggler.

I have high hopes for the card in terms of the in-ring standpoint, we'll have to see if it can be a front runner for card of the year.

Storyline wise I see, possibly see Ziggler beating Jericho and then the next night Jericho comes out and says he is taking a break and focusing on seeing if the WWE is where he wants to be and then he returns in December through to the new year to feud with Ziggler who'll have the 'big one' after cashing in MITB.

Anyone else disappointed in not seeing some sort of Ryback/Jinder Mahal match?

I went back and looked at their previous encounters on SmackDown and it looks like this feud is ready to hit pay-per-view. Why not Summerslam? If they're serious about pushing Ryback, then his first potential feud should have been on the card.

I think it's a good card nonetheless. Should be a great show. Just wish Ryback and Mahal would've been on it. No offense to Damien Sandow as I love his character, but his feud with Clay hasn't really jumped out at me like the Ryback/Mahal feud has.

So far here’s what my take on Slam is.

US Title Match, Airing on the PPV Pre-Show:
-Santino Marella vs Antonio Cesaro ------------------ Antonio should take the title here but I expect them to keep the title on Santino until a Raw or maybe even NOC

WWE Tag Team Title Match:
-Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs The Prime Time Players ----------------- I’d give the win to PTP and I expect them to as well.

WWE Intercontinental Title Match:
-The Miz (c) vs Rey Mysterio -------------------------------------- I don’t see them taking the title this soon from Miz, Miz still needs to grow some more and defending the IC title will help him out with getting into the main event picture so I’d say Miz wins here.

Chris Jericho vs Dolph Ziggler ------------------ Seeing as this is Jericho’s last match for a bit there would be no reason for him to win so I’d say expect Ziggler to win

Daniel Bryan vs Kane ------------- They have been teasing Sean to somehow be involved so I’d say Sean costs Bryan the match.

WHC Match:
Sheamus vs Del Rio -------------- Sheamus retains, They wont give Del Rio the title for a while.

Triple Threat Match For The WWE Title:
-CM Punk (c) vs John Cena vs Big Show ------------ I’d say Cena wins the title here and then defends it until the rumble where The Rock beats him again then CM Punk who will most likely win the rumble will then go on to face and beat The Rock for the title at WM29

Triple H vs Brock Lesnar ---------- If WWE was smart they wouldn’t build Lesnar’s return and just have him get beat all the time which makes him look weak, Vince brought Lesnar back to be a monster and at Summerslam I expect Lesnar to somehow go over Hunter and then after the match is over we hear the well known Gong and Lesnar vs Taker for WM29 is set!

All in all I expect Slam to be atleast a 4/5 ppv.

Thoughts?

This year is the 25th anniversary of Summerslam in the WWE. It is built as the Wrestlemania of the summer. With Hollywood star Charlie Sheen possibly wrestling at the event in a match against Daniel Bryan. But isn't the Summerslam 25 suppose to be a celebration? The Wrestlemania 25 event was built as the anniversary for that event. WWE chairman Vince McMahon wanted to show off his veteran superstars at that WWE showing. Leaving the younger stars off the card due to that reason.

Once again Summerslam will be held in Los Angeles at the stables center. Since this is the 25th Summerslam event. Shouldn't the WWE have made a change in location for the anniversary of SS? How should the 25th Summerslam play out for this year being the anniversary?

Can someone please tell me what the hell happened to the WZ reports of METALLICA performing at SummerSlam? There was speculation of them singing Brock to the ring with Enter Sandman, his old UFC theme.

Now we have Kevin Rudolph

WWE SummerSlam - August 19,2012

1. Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro for the WWE United States Championship - This match wasn’t actually part of the official card, but rather the pre-show for the ppv itself. As for the match itself, in general, a good way to start things off. The action was pretty decent and it went longer than most Santino matches. Cesaro ultimately manages to counter the Cobra the first time, including tearing Santino’s sock puppet up. Santino hulks up here and goes for the move again, only to be distracted by Aksana. Cesaro takes advantage and hits Santino with the Neutralizer for the clean win a bit past the 5 minute mark. Cesaro is the new WWE United States Champion. The match wasn’t a classic or anything, but Santino’s run is over as it needed to be so it started things off for the show on the right foot. *3/4

2. Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler - This was the first match on the official card. I was a little surprised to see that this was the match to start things off with, I expected it to either be the tag title or IC title matches. While I was a little disappointed with the ending, Jericho & Ziggler still put on a very good match with a hot crowd and some very good near falls. The dueling “Let’s Go Ziggler/Y2J” chants were a lot of fun and both wrestlers delivered some great back and forth action. About the 10 minute mark Ziggler successfully nails Jericho with the Zig Zag for a nice near fall. The end comes shortly after Ziggler rolls Jericho up for another nice near finish after Vickie gets up on the apron. Jericho comes back with the Liontamer and forces Ziggler to tap out at the 13 minute mark. I’m assuming there’ll be one more confrontation or match between them on Raw tomorrow night in order to give Ziggler some heat back and send Jericho off. Otherwise, it’s a wasted opportunity. ***1/4

2. Kane vs. Daniel Bryan - This was a good solid match that ultimately gave Bryan a clean and needed victory over Kane. It wasn’t as good as Ziggler vs. Jericho, but it’s pretty hard for Bryan not to have a good match. The match featured good back and forth action with Kane playing his role as the powerhouse well. Bryan also did great in his role as the tough little scrapper. The match delivered some fun offense, like Bryan’s big missle dropkick to Kane and Kane countering Bryan’s flying head butt by catching him around the throat. The end comes after Kane delivers a chokeslam to Bryan and goes for the Tombstone. Bryan counters the move and rolls Kane up into a small package for the clean win a little past the 8 minute mark. Given Kane’s reaction afterward, such as his interview with Matthews & Bryan hightailing it out of the ring quickly, I’m guessing this feud is going to go on a bit longer. **3/4

3. The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio for the WWE Intercontinental Championship - Another good good solid match that pretty much went about how I expected it would. The live crowd was a little light on interest in this match but it quickly built up. Miz & Rey worked well together and pulled off some fun action, such as Miz landing a nice near fall after delivering that powerbomb after bouncing Rey off the ropes. Mysterio goes for the 619 later in the match and manages to hit it. He then goes for the springboard splash but Miz moves out of the way. He sets Mysterio up and delivers the Skull Crushing Finale for the clean win at the 9.5 minute mark. Again, a good solid match that ended the way it needed to end. Miz needed a clean win here, he needed to retain and the match was good. **3/4

4. Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship - Good match from Sheamus and Del Rio with some good, hard hitting physical stuff. There were some good near falls in the match, such as when Del Rio slapped on the Cross Arm Breaker. Sheamus powering out of the move by getting to his feet and slamming Del Rio into the mat was a nice moment that drew a big pop from the live fans. Shortly afterward, Sheamus hit Del Rio with White Noise for another nice near fall. The ending left a little to be desired in my eyes. Sheamus hits Del Rio with the Irish Curse and gets the count even though Del Rio’s foot is over the rope. Del Rio throws a fit afterward, as expected, so this looks like it’s going to keep going for a while longer. Personally I think it’s time to move on or to put Orton into the mix. ***

5. Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. The Prime Time Players - This was a decent match, but definitely the weakest on the SummerSlam card thus far. There was some good action during the match, about what you’d expect to take place. Both teams looked good and worked well together. Nothing overly remarkable about the match, just a decent tag match. To me, it didn’t really come off like filler. It wasn’t a great match but the live crowd was into it and the match continues the trend of the tag team division continuing to show some life. Kofi & Truth retain here at the 7.5 minute mark after Truth hits his finisher on Young. It doesn’t bother me to see the champs retain. Since the WWE seems to be increasing the general relevance & strength of the tag team division, at least for now, taking the titles off Kofi & Truth could be counterproductive. They’re over and they’re establishing themselves as a strong team. **

6. CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show for the WWE Championship - While not as good as I was hoping for, it was still a fun match that ultimately ended the way it needed to. The match featured some good action from all three of them and I dig the story that they were telling as he was trying to come off as equal to Cena, such as when he went for the GTS on Big Show. Show did well in his role as the big, powerful heel and there were some cool spots. Show stacked both guys up and went for his Vader Bomb splash from the second rope. Punk moved and Cena ate the move, which caused me to chuckle a little. The ending comes, or so we think, after Punk nails Show with a springboard clothesline and then locks in the guillotine choke. Cena, simultaneously, comes up from behind and puts Show in an STF. Show eventually taps and the ref calls for the bell. Both Cena and Punk celebrated, thinking they’d won. The ref was confused and he AJ came out doing her little skip routine. As Punk & Cena argued, AJ milked the situation for a bit before ultimately restarting the match. Both men suddenly eat a double chokeslam courtesy of Big Show. Show then covered Cena but Cena kicked out, so he tried it with Punk only for the same result. Show teases the WMD on Cena but Cena counters and lands the AA. Punk comes up and tosses Cena out of the ring and covers show for the clean pin at the 15 minute mark. Punk taunted Cena relentlessly after the match while Cena sold frustration. Punk is doing all he can right now to garner heat from Cena fans. Some will probably complain about the restart but I thought it added some suspense to the match. The match had a lot of fun action, Punk retained, Punk won cleanly and Cena was protected for their eventual singles feud. All in all, nothing to complain about in my eyes. ***1/4

Kevin Rudolf - Rudolf performed his song, the theme for SummerSlam. I couldn’t care less. I didn’t see it, so I went to take a piss break. N/A

7. Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar - I went into this match with some trepidation but I very much enjoyed it. It wasn't as good as Cena vs. Lesnar at Extreme Rules, but it was still very good in my eyes. Early on in the match, after Triple H knocks Lesnar over the top rope, he shouts down to him "This is WWE, not UFC!" I just got a nice little kick out of that. Afterward, Lesnar climbs back into the ring and gets the better of Trips, including targeting the arm that he "broke" several months back before Trips is knocked out onto the floor. The match was physical, had a lot of great back and forth action. It had more of a wrestling match feel to it than Cena vs. Lesnar did, which is probably why it didn't have quite the same impact to me. I liked how Cole brought up the various medical issues Lesnar has had in the past, such as when he was selling the gut shots he'd taken during the match. It made for some nice context. Trips hit Lesnar with the Pedigree at one point but Lesnar kicked out for a good near fall. Trips goes for the move again but takes a low blow. Heyman calls out to the ref that this is the fight that Triple H wanted, making a reference to a conversation Trips had with Scott Armstrong earlier in the night, so Armstrong didn't call for the DQ. Shortly afterward, Lesnar scoops up Triple H and delivers the F-5 with Trips kicking out. Heyman does a good job of selling his frustration ringside. Lesnar eventually puts Triple H into the Kimura, the move he "broke" his arm with months ago. Trips reaches the ropes and uses his right hand to hammer Lesnar relentlessly. About the 18 minute mark, Trips hits another Pedigree on Lesnar and as he goes in for the pin, Lesnar gets him in the Kimura once again. Trips fights the move for a while, the crowd pops big here, but Trips taps, giving Lesnar the win about the 19 minute mark. Heyman celebrates and Triple H gets a great reaction. At first, a loud "Triple H" chant starts as well as a "You Tapped Out" chant. Triple H looked sympathetic as he said "I'm sorry" to the crowd, which caused the mainstream fans to chant his name again. Not as good as Cena vs. Lesnar, but still a lot of fun with the right ending. ***1/2

Final Thoughts - I expect that some fans are probably going to bash the show because there weren't all these crazy, unexpected shenanigans going on. If you watch pro wrestling for unpredictability, you're going to be disappointed a lot of the time. I very much enjoyed the show, a much better showing overall than the past couple of SummerSlam ppvs in my opinion. Of the matches on the actual SummerSlam ppv itself, the weak match was the tag title match and it wasn't bad really. Wasn't great, but it didn't suck. With the exception of Jericho vs. Ziggler, all the matches ended in exactly the way they should have in my opinion. Santino vs. Cesaro started the whole thing off on a positive note with Cesaro beating Santino and becoming the new US champ. Jericho vs. Ziggler was a great official opener to the show. I would've preferred to see Ziggler win here and I'm hoping that there'll be a match between them on Raw tomorrow night with Ziggler getting his heat back and sending Jericho "out" for a while. The IC title match was exactly as I expected, a fun match with a good strong showing from both guys. Kane vs. Daniel Bryan was also a very solid mid-card match with Bryan getting his first clean pinfall win over Kane in a singles match. I enjoyed Sheamus vs. Del Rio, though the ending to the match was a little weak. Personally, I think it's time to either move Sheamus on or to add Orton into the mix for a threeway. Kofi & Truth and the PTPs had a decent tag title match. Again, nothing special but it's further showing that the tag team picture is getting some life back into it. Punk vs. Cena vs. Show did it's job of providing some really good action, giving Punk a credible win over Cena while protecting him at the same time and setting things up nicely for their eventual singles match. Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar was a pleasant surprise that delivered a good physical match with, in my opinion, the right ending. As I said earlier, not as good as Cena vs. Lesnar but still a strong effort in my eyes. Lesnar needed a strong & clean win here and I'm pleased to see that he got it. Now that I think on it, tonight was filled with nothing but clean, solid wins for everybody involved. I'm wondering how much input Triple H had on booking the show overall. Like I said, if you wanted tons of unpredictable surprises & shenanigans, you were disappointed here. If you wanted lots of good wrestling action with clean finishes that needed to happen, then you got your money's worth.

Grade: B+

Solid Summerslam tonight. HHH/Lesnar was what it needed to be,Brock wins and maybe that will shut up the people who say Hunter nevers put anyone over. The Triple Threat I liked and even the Restart was fine. Glad CM Punk kept the WWE Title sneaking in the backdoor after Cena did all the work. Jericho/Ziggler was fun and Kane/Daniel Bryan was pretty good as well. Kinda surprised PTP did not win the Tag Titles but they want Longer Reigns so I was ok with it. Also liked Sheamus/ADR and I guess that will continue another month after the controversy. I had thought Dolph would maybe Cash in MITB but I guess that is coming later. Miz/Rey for the IC Title was solid and Antonio wins the US Title on the Pre-Show. Overall 8/10 for Summerslam.

I thought this was an average Summerslam. They had a couple of solid matches nothing really special. Nothing from this years SS really stands out to me. Last year's Summerslam was great and blew this one out of the water.

-Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler- Very solid match good choice for an opener. The angle was poorly written but given the storyline the right person won the match. Probably match of the night. 3/5

-Kane vs. Daniel Bryan- This feud is incredibly stupid and the match sucked even more. What ever happened to Charlie Sheen? 1.75/5

-Miz vs Rey Mysterio Jr for the IC Title- I thought the match was solid even though the crowd was flat for it. Miz needed the win and hopefully can build some momentum as ic champ. 2.5/5

-Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship - I thought they did a good job trying to get heat on ADR the last couple of weeks. The match was solid, but had a real lame ending. What scares me is this feud doesn't look like its over. I like ADR but he needs to go to the mid card. WWE have high hopes for Sheamus. He needs a much more interesting storyline than this. I would love an Orton heel turn on Sheamus. 2.75/5

-Kofi Kingston & R-Truth vs. The Prime Time Players for the tag titles - WTF is this... Am i watching an episode of WWE Superstars or Summerslam? Who cares

-CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show for the WWE Championship - I haven't been into this feud at all. The match was better than I expected. I didn't mind the restart. I'm hoping they now go full board with a Punk/Cena program. 2.75/5

-Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar - This was different from Brock/Cena, which was basically Brock treating Cena as a punching bag until he made his grand comeback and won. I went to a couple of different sites and people are killing it saying how "boring" and "slow pace" the match was. It didn't help that the crowd was dead for most of the match. I didn't think the match was bad. Brock spent most of the match going for the kimura lock. Given how the angle played out it made sense to me. Brock kind of underselling the 2nd pedigree was funny. Probably given the hype it was a bit of a disappointment. I dont think it was a bad match though. 2.75/5

Overall a decent show. Matches ranged from ok to very good. I liked how in the opening montage they showed clips of old summerslams. Good way to stress how this is their silver anniversary. I would have had Del Rio and the Prime Time Players go over in their respective matches. What was the point of having Del Rio vs Sheamus again if Sheamus wins again? These two have had like 10 matches in the last few months and Sheamus wins them all. R-Truth and Kofi are a makeshift team. They should have real teams holding the belts so that's why I wanted Prime Time Players to win. Lesnar vs HHH wasn't bad, but could have been a lot better.

Am I the only one who thought Brock did a great job selling his stomach injury/pain? I was there live and thought it was a legit injury, considering his previous bouts with colon surgery that have pretty much forced him to retire from MMA. Even when he was in control, he was selling it pretty hard, and Triple H was stalling on the outside for a while. That made me think he was giving Brock plenty of time to recover.

Other than that, the match sucked as the main event, and left my wife and I with a bad taste in our mouths, after spending more than $600 between 2 tickets, 1 AXXESS VIP ticket and 1 AXXESS General Admission Ticket, plus merchandise, food, parking and gas money.

To think that some people actually fly in from around the world for these PPVs, spend hundreds, if not thousands on floor/ringside seats, and this is the best you think you can come up with? Not even disappointed with the outcome of the match, that's what I was hoping for, but the pacing and lack of power moves for a "fight" absolutely sucked.

Santino Marella vs. Antonio Cesaro: A comedy match. Which is a problem because Cesaro is not very funny, leaving it to Santino to do all the funny stuff. The stuff with the cobra puppet insulted my intelligence. What, Santino can't do the cobra without his sock puppet. Santino is a very good wrestler when he's allowed to show it, but he's just not all the funny anymore, especially since he's been telling the same joke over and over again. Score: 1/5.

Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler: A good opener with Jericho selling his injured ribs all the way. That might have slowed down the match a little, but, to be honest, it made for a more tense match. Perhaps not the show-stealer some expected, but good enough match. Score: 3/5

Kane vs. Daniel Bryan: I expected a good match. I got a good match. Kane played the dominant force, Daniel Bryan played the rabid pitbull and it worked quite well. That being said, I hope this is the end of this feud, even though, given that Kane was raving mad at the end, it obviously isn't. The finish came kind of out of nowhere, but did you really expect Kane to tap out? Score: 3/5.

The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio: The Miz has been...well...awesome since returning. One thing I've noticed with him is that he works well with a large variety of opponents. I mean, he's transitioned from working good matches Christian to working good matches with Mysterio. The match itself reflected this, with some great counters, but it ended a little early. Score: 3.5/5

Sheamus vs. Alberto del Rio: I know people are saying this match is stale, but, maybe because I took a break from Wrestling for most of the Summer, I didn't notice. Quite frankly these two had an enjoyable match (although, wasn't Sheamus supposed to be hurt going in?). Score: 3.5/5.

Kofi Kingston/R-Truth vs. The Prime Time Players: The Prime Time Players were as impressive as they've been and they do seem to have some chemistry with the champs. But, this match didn't do it for me. Too formulaic, and I saw the ending coming about 3 minutes before R-Truth hit his finisher. Score: 2/5.

CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show: The Big Show played exactly the role he needed to play here – the unstoppable force (at least for about 2/3 of the match). My issue with this match was the time it was given. I can't say how long it was, but it felt like it could have gone on a minute or two longer. CM Punk and John Cena spent most of the match trying to take down the Big Show ending in a double submission...which restarted the match. AA to Show, Punk steals the cover, and we are left with John Cena vs. Punk for Night of Champions, unless we throw a monkey wrench into the works. Score: 3.5/5

Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H: Brock got his big win...and yeah that's about all I'll say for it. Triple H sold an arm injury for the first third of the match, Brock Lesnar sold a stomach injury for the second third, and in the last third, Lesnar broke Triple H's arm. This match belonged on the undercard, so it loses a half point for not being main event worthy. Score: 2.5/5

Match of the Night: CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. The Big Show: The best match on a night of, quite frankly, disappointing action.

Wrestler of the Night: John Cena: Waffled between Punk and Cena for this honor, went with Cena because he was in the ring more for htis match.

Worst Match of the Night: Kofi/Truth vs. Prime Time Players: With a special shout-out to Kevin Rudolph's performance (which sadly does not qualify). The Tag match just didn't do it for me.

Worst Wrestler of the Night: Darren Young: Here's the thing with Young: he just fades into the background. At least when he had the weird haircut I noticed him. But now? He's just sort of their. While he might be more technically sound than his partner, Titus O'Neil gets noticed, whereas when Darren Young's in the ring, I don't really notice him so much as I think: hey. That guy's beating up Kofi. Cool

Overall: Summerslam was...mediocre. And for a Big 4 PPV that's just sad. Score: 5/10.
