*MERGED* [OFFICIAL] Daniel Bryan Danielson / Michael Cole Feud Discussion Thread

Occasional Pre-Show
I know everything is scripted obviously, but with there little brawl tonight it looked like Danielson really kicked him in the face and Cole looked really pissed.

I think they are just playing it up. It wasn't like when Austin beat up Michael Cole. I wouldn't be surprised if "Bryan Danielson" somehow got reinstated by the pros for that.

holy shit, mfstuijgiyddgjiyy
did that really happen, danielson just said everthing the dirt sheets and this forum have been saying. And then he almost did what everyone in this forum would love to do to michael cole. And thats kick his ass. jesus christ I thought he was going only be more intense in the ring but man. I have loved watching danielson ever since I first saw him in roh. He has since been in my top 4 favoriets, and now that hbk is gone that makes him in my top 3, but since he is saying everything i want to hear said to wwe he may be moving up. i dont care if im spaming right now because im just marking out.

The fact that it made me wonder is sufficient. For as good as his in-ring work was, DB was a pretty blah character until tonight.

Despite the fact that he contradicted his lame statement about being a bad capitalist by declaring himself the guy who could make the company the most money (really, that promo made no sense), it was nice to see him show some intensity, and he got a nice reaction from the crowd. I definitely saw a mark on Cole's left cheek, and no doubt Vince was yelling in his ear to milk the confrontation for all it was worth.

Let's hope DB does get a second chance, because I don't see any of the remaining people getting over to any great extent. Otunga can't wrestle, Gabriel is basically a poor man's Evan Bourne (a guy who has been stuck jobbing for 9+ months), Slater has nothing for me, and even Barrett's gimmick is getting a bit stale already. At least there is a chance DB/BD could work on his mic skills, a la Swagger, and make his way on his technical wrestling ability for a while.

Clearly there is some real tension between "Vintage" and Danielson. There is no way anyone could take verbal abuse, scripted or not, without a little anger. It was smart how WWE furthered the Danielson feud with the Miz, while making his character more appealing to the general public. Ultimately, I believe Cole sold the punches well and made a screaming Vince satisfied with the crowd reaction.

They both sold this very well, at one point i thought it was real lol, Bryan Danielson is awesome ! He isnt going anywhere ! He will be in the WWE for a long time !

I thought it was one of the greatest moments in "NXT's" very short history. If anything, it should get DB/BD reinstated and put back in the line-up. Cole has had that coming to him for a long time and he knew it just like everyone else did. I also admit that what Daniel Bryan said to him when he was in Cole's face by the announce table was really true. Most of the fans agree with him and I'm sure many in wrestling would agree too. Cole gives me a toothache sometimes bless his heart.

i know right, as a wrestling fan, Cole was getting on my nerves about Daniel Bryan. Cole used to bash the Miz all the time, but seemed to suck up to him when it came to Bryan, the altercation they had was great, BUT i still hope Bryan Danielson goes to RAW and wins a U.S. title tournament (after Bret Hart lets the title go). Bryan Danielson was and still is my favorite guy on NXT, he may not be great on the mic, but he can wrestle.
Slater has nothing for me
i think Slater can wrestle too and is decent on the mic, if i had to pick a guy to win NXT, it's Slater. Wade Barrett is good, but his character isn't catchy, David Otunga is a great character, but his wrestling skills are dull, Justin Gabriel can impress, but so could Evan Bourne.

Why do I find myself having to remind you guys that if it appears on TV, (on a TAPED SHOW) that it isn't real? The comments that brought on the attack in the first place were scripted, so how could it be real heat?

Anyways, I was obviously pleased that this angle happened tonight. It was the final confirmation that we have not seen the last of Bryan Danielson in WWE. He's being shot to the moon and his one segment tonight made everyone else in NXT look about as interesting as the Brooklyn Brawler. And being a member of the IWC, I obviously marked the f*ck out for the whole segment. I know some people originally thought that BD's presence on NXT was a big middle finger to the IWC, but after tonight and Bret Hart ALMOST passing up the match last night, I'd argue that BD's presence is in fact a "tip of the hat" to us. Vince is no dummy. He realizes that the way to the WWE universe's heart is thru the IWC. Not that we all don't already love Bryan Danielson, but by giving him such a prominent albiet uncharacteristic role by WWE's standards, he peques our interest in the overall product ten-fold. All fans of Bryan Danielson watched raw last night creaming ourselves when Bret Hart said he would be passing on the match. Obviously, it didn't quite turn out how we wanted. But just the fact that we know they almost did it was good enough for me.

Scripted aside and all. I was actually glad that I watched NXT just for that alone and you know something, Michael Cole had it coming because everything Danielson said was the truth. Albeit, when he called Cole a poorman's JR, he should have added and he does a crappy job at that too. But this shows what Bryan Danielson has to offer in the WWE. And you know, this is the guy that made me start watching Ring of Honor. This was the guy that I remembered fans chanting "Best in the World" "Best in the World". And truthfully, it left me wanting more because I want to see what else we can see out of Bryan Danielson in the WWE.

great segment. Real heat? I don't think so. It was pretty obvious the confrontation was going to get physical as soon as DB/BD got within 5 feet of Cole and Cole stood up. He had to stand up in order to get ready to sell what was about to happen. But i'm sure Cole was pissed after being called a "poor mans replacement." THAT WAS FREAKING AWESOME.

Yeah, the way Cole turned heel out of nowhere since day 1 was a nice little ploy to help boost Bryan's popularity, because honestly, who really is not annoyed by the things Cole said about him? They did a good job making this whole thing appear legit, a la post-cheat Edge/Matt Hardy (although l'm sure some real tension lingered there for a while). l gotta say, l was wondering what the purpose was of Cole being a douchebag, 'cause l already felt that with The Miz (who is perhaps the most hated wrestler in WWE today) belittling Bryan constantly was good enough. But it all seems like it's coming together, and this is what they had in store for Bryan since day 1: bring him in as the tame, winless neutered Daniel Bryan, and slowly transform him into the non-conformist, edgy, intense, real Bryan Danielson.

l was marking like soiled undies when l saw him put the boots to Cole. A nice little payoff. Now l can't wait to see what Bryan has in store for The Miz. Personally, l was hoping he'd take the U.S. title from Miz instead of Bret, but l'm currently happy with how WWE's handling him right now. lt's certainly a lot better than l thought it would be. Myself and other fans were pretty worried at first with the idea of Bryan being under contract to WWE, but now it looks like we don't have a lot to worry about, which is good, because even though WWE's not really about the wrestling, Bryan deserves a spot in the big leagues.

I thought DB/BD did exactly what needed to be done by someone. Beating the Holy Hell out of Mr. Lame-ass Michael Cole. Then for Cole to walk off after crying like a Biaaatch and threatening to press charges was just a typical puss-out Cole-like move. I swear he is the worst. DB/BD hit the nail straight on the head when he made the JR ripoff analogy, I loved it. I believe next for DB/BD will either be a free agent a la Lebron James move or the pros will vote him back, which would be best because Cole would even cry more, making all those weeks that he dogged out Bryan a big slap in his punk-ass face. I HATE Michael Cole!, he is by far the most horrible announcer in either league these days. Imagine this in the next few weeks: Cole hiring The Miz to be his bodyguard, or having The Miz at his side during NXT, being that The Miz has never met a mic he hasn't liked, and Bryan and Miz having it out. Of course with The Miz getting the better of him at first with Cole getting in a few cheap shots. Then Bryan and The Miz having their storyline start up the following weeks, after The Miz gets his U.S. title back.....maybe even DB/BD winning the title soon. Or something like that......What does WrestleZone think?????

To tell the truth, I was so surprised at what Bryan Danielson (not Daniel Bryan) said tonight that I thought it was almost a complete shoot. I mean, everything the man said was the gospel truth, especially at how Michael Cole doesn't have half the announcing skills Jim Ross has and Danielson alone made himself a star without relying on some corporate machine. You wouldn't think Vince McMahon would allow anyone to criticize the company like that on worldwide television.

Much like everyone else who are pro-BD, I had my doubts on how he would be utilized by the WWE. But like someone else posted, Daniel Bryan was a neutered, dull and winless puss and Bryan Danielson is a anti-establishment, ass-kicking and badass rebel! My theory is that Danielson is going to be pretty much the unchained free agent running wild to the point that someone will assign him to either RAW or SmackDown.

Forget John Bradshaw Layfield, because "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson is a true WRESTLING GOD!

The point of this isn't so much that there's real heat between Danielson and Cole. There isn't. This is more for the fact of a wrestler beating on an ordinary announcer. This is normally done with a heel wrestler on a face announcer. Such as The Magnificent Muraco attempting to attack Gordon Solie (which elevated Rowdy Roddy Piper to a face position in Georgia), The Undertaker forcing JR to join Vince McMahon's KMA club, or Heidenreich forcing Cole to listen to his poetry. This does not include Stone Cold or The Rock beating on or badmouthing backstage announcers. The closest this came to was people beating on Joel "The Quintessential Studmuffin" Gertner in ECW right before he became the Dudley's introducer. Of course, part of the fact that hasn't happened too often is the fact that heel announcers are usually ex-wrestlers, who can take and give a beatdown themselves (see JBL costing Y2J the WWE title some years ago against Randy Orton).

The WWE knows Cole is in the WWE bubble so they used that and made that into a storyline. Bring in an indie wrestler who is well known, make Cole the heel and run with it. Quite frankly it writes itself. Possibly one of the best story lines in a long long time.

This is what you call a "worked Shoot". It's basically completely scripted and planned out. Only its done in a way that still appears to be "More real" than normal wrestling. They accomplished this by having Bryan say things that you would NEVER expect any normal Professional wrestler in WWE to say.

So do I believe there is real heat between Bryan and Cole? Absolutly not.

Whats surprising is that this was by far the best moment in NXT history and it had nothing to do with the actual competion or any of the remaining contestants! The other thing that is strange is how creative has been able to make such a dramatic change in the DB/BD character in 2 weeks! I mean they totally screwed this guy's character up by having him lose soooooo many matches. They tried to make him a lovable loser type, and really hype it up when HE did FINALLY win.

So did creative have this changed planned the whole time? (No Way IMO) but it weird how they fixed it so fast.

If you belivieve that was "real", do you still beleve in the tooth fairy, santa, and the easter bunny?

I'd have to go with this here, to which I apoligise in advance for those who haven't been told. Sorry guys, you've been lied to.

The fact that people have been questioning the legitimacy of this hatred between Cole and Danielson could just possibly mean that both parties in this mini-feud have pulled off their respective roles immaculately. Michael has always been known to put together some effective performances when told to, but that announcing voice will forever curse him. If he sounded like a regular joe who could talk like a badass, Michael Cole would be bigger than Vickie Guerrero in heel heat. Danielson has a lot of experience with the indy circuit to be able to pull something like that off, so that was expected.

And even if there was any real heat between these two, both men are professional and civilised enough to get together for a cup of coffee to discuss their differences in the proper manner to avoid any backlash from the company. If one man was the reason the other got fired, that one man would lose a lot of respect and be looked down on.

So no, the factors just point to them being a well-played scene by two men in the entertainment business. Shocking, never seen that before!

Scripted or not, I bet you when Michael Cole went to bed this evening, the last thing that went through his head was probably "am I really a poor man's JR?" The writers wouldn't have written that if there wasn't truth to it and Cole knows it.

As far as why it seemed so much more real, it's because we've all been dying to beat down Cole for years and all the stuff Danielson said was stuff we've all said even on this forum.

That was one of those segments which make me wonder, "how much freedom did the writers give?" Thinking back to Matt Hardy's return after Lita and Edge slept together, even a situation like that seemed to be somewhat controlled. Matt didn't say some of the things he could've said and while that storyline was great at the moment due to the real life circumstances, it had an air of acting to it.

This one, in my opinion, had none of that. And while I do think/know that it was a scripted segment, I don't know how much the WWE would've allowed Danielson to say. Especially coming from the recent "letting go" of Good Ol' JR.

Thanks smark...

But seriously, DB/BD is going get over FAST. He's already over with the IWC, and before long, he's going to get over with everyone else. He seems to be poking at VKM, and is doing what every person who watches Raw wants to do. Kick MCole's f'n teeth in. I think I would have utterly pissed myself in laughter in DB/BD would have yelled "Is that vintage enough for you!?" Hopefully that's something that he'll say later.

I could see Cole going to Miz for protection, and Jericho giving the duty to Barrett (I see him winning NXT) giving both men time on NXT and RAW.

But all in all, there's no way there's real heat between Cole and Danielson. I personally think the confrontation looked pretty poor. IMO, it didn't really even look like he'd made contact. Although, I do like MCole starting to act a bit heelish.

If Cole's commentary has been designed to ruffle the feathers of the IWC at large, then Bryan's recent promo's are the antithesis of that. Why, they were slipping over in their own ejaculate last night. My proof:

Cole was about to get his f*ckin head kicked in!

Just watched the Daniel Bryan promo. Who was the douchebag yelling "you suck"? Asshole.

This is basically the only storyline happening in the WWE right now that doesn't feel predictable.

Tonight, we witnessed the early birth pangs of a true wrestling superstar. Bryan is just WAITING to bust out right now.

Speaking out for all the wrasslin' fans who are sick of the BS.

So yeah, the 'internet fans' seemed to love it. And you know what? I did too. "My my, this is quite enjoyable" were my approximate thoughts. Maybe the IWC were right about Bryan Danielson all along.

I know there's already a thread on the promo, but - for some reason - it's about whether it was real or not. It's also - dramatic pause - in the wrong section.

I absolutely loved the promo last night, it was very well made, seemed quite unpredictable, and it just showed that the people who's said that Bryan Danielson doesn't have any charisma, or lacks of microphone skills, should quietly sit down and realize they've just been proved wrong.

I think this has got to be the best promo cut on NXT yet, and perhaps ever, it seemed so legitimate and I feel that just made it so much more awesome, he really got around the whole thing, bashing Matt was brilliant due to the fact that minutes earlier, he had interrupted Michael Tarver.

Somehow I can't help but think that Bryan should've been allowed to beat the living shit out of Cole, and bash him for his vintage thing.

It would've been better without the inclusion of Matt Striker posing questions like he's part of a parliamentary debate. Or the bit at the end when after an impressive promo that took a surprising turn Daniel Bryan was removed from his ass kicking of Cole soley by the unsuccessful as a WWE wrestler Matt Striker.

But otherwise it looks like Danielson is going to be a success in WWE. Kinda like C.M. Punk, that other indy guy. That Cena vs. Danielson match should be intresting, when it happens.

This was definitely a work, but an excellent one. By far the first exciting moment on NXT since the first episode.

I see one of two things happening:

1. Danielson gets reinstated on NXT and goes on to defeat Barrett to win.

2. Danielson comes to RAW and goes after Cole, The Miz and anyone else in his way.

Either way, it would make for some excellent television.
