*MERGED* Michael Cole Discussion

i say no to Cole as GM of RAW. First off, i want Bret Hart to remain the GM. He knows wrestling very well, he's very liked and he can cut a promo, he's not great, but he's not bad. Michael Cole is doing well at his NXT promos, BUT as GM, people would push him around and not have fear of him. People dont mess with Long much because he threatens them with firing them, could you imagine Cole doing that?? i couldnt. I think the BEST thing for Cole would be this.....RAW NEEDS a heel commentator, so why not let Michael Cole cheer for the heels now????? Have King basically be the nice guy and have King like the faces and the divas and have Cole trash the faces and maybe even the diva's!!!!!?? that would get him heat with the fans, have him be true and annoying by saying, the diva's cant wrestle and are just good looking and have Cole say Cena's overrated, basically have him treat Cena and ALL the faces like he's doing to Daniel Bryan or Bryan Danielson. The current Cole is annoying because he still likes Cena, BUT he cant stand Bryan???? on Raw he sometimes bashes the Miz, but on NXT, he sucked up to him!! that made him sound two-faced and stupid, make him a heel completely and not a tweener.

I think that making Cole a GM or full fledged heel would get old fast. This thing w/ him and Danielson works because its the most hated announcer in recent memory, and an extremely talented IWC darling. Its the opposite of extremes at each others throats. Danielson is seen as everything right w/ wrestling and Cole is seen as everything wrong w/ announcing.

The feud is working because Cole is a superface announcer, straying off the beaten path of what he normally does and says. This makes it seem as if he legitametly doesn't respect Danielson, which is where all the heat in the feud stems from. The IWC fan automatically thinks "Who the fuck are you? Danielsons awesome and you suck, Cole!" I've enjoyed the back & forth between the two quite a bit and I think if the WWE plays their cards right Danileson is gonna get even more over than he is. However, I think that if you take a heel Cole beyond this feud he just becomes the second coming of Jonathan Coachman. That I can do without.

But obviously Bret has filled that spot now, which in all honesty I am so happy about! I was hoping he would become the new GM because I still have no got over the fact that I am seeing Bret Hart on Raw, 13 years after the Montreal Screwjob and he adds great star power to the show.

I know it's off topic but dammit I'm tired of it! Doesn't anyone realize how much Bret Hart sucks now? He has no business being General Manager, talk about a fish out of water. He was passibly good on the mic in his hey-day, but now he is flat out horrible. He can't speak, he obviously can't wrestle and he's a stumbling, bumbling mess. My heart dropped in disappointment when his music sounded on Monday.

Fuck a Bret Hart rub, fuck a Bret Hart stroke, fuck a Bret Hart screwjob, just fuck a Bret Hart. He's pointless now that that incredibly inept feud with McMahon ended at WM. And now all we are gonna get for weeks on out now is needless and endless Bret Hart Ball Huggin.

To not get spammed or something for this... yes Micheal Cole sucks too. He was worthless on Smackdown, he's worthless on Raw, and only recently showed a hint of talent on NXT the past couple weeks... and that had nothing to do with his announcing but more for getting his ass whupped two weeks in a row. So with all that being said, I say sure he would make a great GM of Raw! I could see that happen, sucks but why the hell not?! We get everything shoved down our throats whether we like it or not anyway.

I think the reason why Michael Cole is so bad doing Play by Play and so good as a heel is because his promo last night had "Heart". When he's doing play by play he's fed lines and it makes him look bad. I think play by play should be "natural" and they shouldn't have VKM or anyone else yelling lines in their ear. If anything they should be giving tips during the commercial break and thats all!

Great promo though by Michael Cole.

You, my friend, are the definition of a "Mark." Not even gonna call you a smark because well... quite frankly you aren't all that smart judging by your posts. You sit here shitting all over Hart, who's done a pretty damn good job of getting THD over, and he isn't doing that bad on the mic either. Cole is more than efficient as an announcer. End of story. People who look into announcing as deeply as you are aren't going to be pleased with anything if your that god damn cynical about everything. If you even really pay that much attention to the announcing, just stop watching or take a fucking break. You obviously need it.

Cole as a GM? Hell I'd like to see him as a full fledge heel. It would be kind of interesting. Whether you like it or not, his popularity, be it negative or positive, is generating a lot of interest. Hart's only going to last so long, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cole get the shot. It would definitely end up helping Danielson get over in the long run.

I was always indifferent to Cole. I didn't hate him, I didn't like him, he was just an easy name to throw in to make fun of.

Then, he started being a heel on NXT. His banter with Josh Matthews is entertaining and fun, and he's actually become interesting to listen to. He can also cut a darn good promo, as evidenced by the awesome segment last night.

He would make an excellent GM or manager. He has the acting skills (his expressions and gestures last night were brilliant), the mic skills (he's a commentator, after all), and is already hated, even by the casual fans. I would love to see him either wreak havoc on RAW or Smackdown, or get paired with a monster heel and talk for them, similar to what Matt Striker did for Big Daddy V.

As I read all the comments I notice how many people jump on his bandwagon. 2 weeks ago people were asking for his firing due to his work on Raw overhyping stuff. As shown with Steve Austin, being yourself is the best gimmick around. Michael Cole obviously hates the Internet and the fact that we push Bryan Danielson as an elite competitor. To each their own and I don't hold it against him. Like I said earlier being fed lines and doing an adlib interview with some structure set are two different things. If Michael Cole makes more money and is happier with his new role all the power to him. People working for WWE praise the guy for his preparation with regards to his work and he fits the mold of what McMahon wants.

There was a thread on here a few months ago regarding the topic of heel announcers. Bobby Heenan, Jesse Ventura and Jerry Lawler have all been very successful using a heel gimmick at the annouce table. Michael Cole could very well be the next on the list. Personally, I would love to see it.

Michael Cole has received a great reaction from fans (and from most of us on this forum) regarding his performance on NXT. The WWE appears to be giving this whole thing a test run on their "C" show to see how it might work on RAW. Cole already gets heat because he is the greatest announcer in the world, so why not capitalize on that?

Did anybody notice how in the first ten minutes of Raw this week there were three quick camera shots of signs that said "Cole Sucks!" ?

Anyway, as someone trying to get into the play-by-play business, I will agree that Cole is an awful announcer. He stumbles over his words, and makes things seem all too predictable. J.R. even made The Right To Censor exciting. That says a lot.

I could see Cole in a heel role. Sometimes it's that heel role that propels these guys to acceptance from the fans.

WWE should capitalize on this and make Cole a full on heel. Cole is in a tweener role right now making a few heel comments on commentary but acting as his goofy fun loving self as well. They need to bring his character full circle where he can manage one of superstars probably even a NXT rookie to challenge Bryan. Maybe Cole could manage Jackson when he comes back or Wade Barrett. I have always hated Cole but I have been impressed with his promos and his heel persona.

Hopefully WWE won't drop the ball and forget about this storyline altogether. It sounds crazy but I think Cole could be a decent heel manager for a wrestler. When its all said and done maybe Cole can be remembered as a great heel manager instead of mediocre commentator.

The reason why Cole would do so good as a heel manager, is because he has tried to be the good guy, the nice nerdy commentator, and we hate him for it. We want his blood for being so nice and clean cut. His personality is spewing right now, well his character anyway. Him and Bryan Danielson are a match made in heaven.

Who all here wants to see Cole tap Michael Cole tap out! I think a lot of people want to see that. The crowd went nuts when Bryan smacked Cole around. Not also that, but Cole looks perfect for the role. A heel manager, costing faces to lose matches. He will draw heat, and can make some talent get over with the crowd. Possible pair him up with Zach Ryder? Woo Woo Woo, and having Cole interfere? I think we found Cole's niche.

Michael Cole sucks. Why JR isn't back yet is beyond me.

Cole is already a full on heel. Everyone hates him. I've never seen one crowd cheer for him ever. He needs to quit while hes ahead. Pretty soon he'll be as annoying as Cena and then all hell will break loose. lol

I cant picture Cole as a manager, i just think he's so f'n lame. He would be better as a heel for commentator though. And what's this about pairing him up with Zach Ryder? Ryder sucks ass. His gimmick is dumb as hell. And that "Woo Woo Woo, You know it" line, even dumber. And dont get me started on those tights...Now back to Michael Cole. He should just be a heel commentator, if not fired for sucking sooo bad. WWE just needs to make the best out of what they have until they have a legit replacement

in my opinion this is just a sorry attempt to make Cole a heel, all in turn to remove him from broadcast for a while, after he gets his ass beat by Danielson. Col does not make a good heel, and quite honestly i cant stand him, his commentating sucks, and Mathews was correct when he said that Cole has no vision outside of WWE or something along those lines, Michael Cole although is making this feud good, I really cant wait for him to shut up and get in the ring...the only thing i can see happening here, to really solidify his status as a "heel" announcer, is to have a match where Danielson wrestles Miz for a WWE contract and Cole interferes and screws over Danielson. plain and simple, we all know where this is headed to, Michael Cole getting his ass kicked, and Danielson getting a contract.
