Daniel Bryan: Should've taken the raw offer

No not at all, I think going to FCW and coming up threw the WWE NXT program was the smartest thing Daniel Bryan could have done. Why? Because if he was put straight to Raw like what was proposed by WWE at first I think he gets lost in the shuffle. Hes not a very Big Guy or the "Prototype" come in and dominate type guy that Vince would normally push right off the bat so I think he would of just gotten lost.

Also by going to FCW it shows a bit of respect to people in the WWE and FCW system that just because hes a "World Renowned Indy Wrestler" doesn't mean he can't learn a few things.

Plus now he gets to be the Main Focus of WWE NXT, you saw it on Tuesday that he was the focus, he got on WWE.com with the "Feud" with The Miz, he gets to cut a promo with The Miz on WWE NXT not to mention the Backstage segment and his first WWE Match is against the best in the WWE right now and current World Champ Chris Jericho, you think he gets pushed this much if goes straight to Raw? I don't think so..

As much as I personally would have liked to see him much earlier, I think it was a smart move for Danielson to spend some time in FCW. I'm still not convinced it was 100% a political move (IMO, that was an added bonus). Danielson is a perfectionist so the report that he felt rusty in the ring after his dark match was probably very accurate.

I know we have only seen the debut episode, but I very much enjoyed NXT. Maybe that's because Danielson was the focus of the show (and hopefull he continues to be), but the concept itself is good. I liked the interaction between the pros and the rookies and I liked that the matches included a little bit of both.

It's obvious that at the moment Danielson is being booked as the main guy. The WWE did not strip him down like I feared that they would. In fact, aside from the name change, they only made 2 very minor changes- they cut his hair and gave him a bit of a tan. He is still wearing his same ring attire and robe- which is classic, not bland- and he was able to get in some of his classic moves in his match with Jericho.

I'm definately happy with how things are starting out with Danielson. I'm exciting to see him work a longer match so we can see more of the mat wrestling and submission holds that he does so incredibly well.

I disagree with you on his look. He looks uninteresting, and as if someone teleported Bob Backlund, mid WWE title reign to now. He looks like an outdated, bland relic. Which is a shame, because he really is a remarkably good wrestler.

and on the topic of the thread, Danielson definately shouldn't have debuted on Raw. On NXT he's the star of the show, wrestling in a competitive match with the world champion. On Raw, he'd be in the midcard at best. In NXT he's sharing his spotlight with 11 other people (1 of whom is supposed to be helping him develop a character (and hopefully dragging his ass to an outfitters and barbers so he looks like something more than the Amehrican Dragon Daniel Blandon)) on Raw he'd be sharing it with more than twise that number. Whatever way you look at it, Danielson made the right choice in visiting FCW and debuting on NXT.

Fair enough. But I have to say that I love his look. Back in Backlund's hayday 90% of wrestlers wore solid color tights with matching boot and knee pads. Today, Danielson is one of the few guys with attire like that. It makes him stand out and makes him unique in a business where many guys are wearing rhinestones, animal prints and shiny pleather to the ring. The maroon tights are just as much a part of the gimmick as the submission holds.

I actually heard that before he was put on the chopping Board Danielson was gonna be "The" partner The Brian Kendrick was talking about. This would've been a very interresting idea just look where Ezekiel Jackson has gone! But you never know Danielson may have been released along side Kendrick

On the subject of NXT that dive was awesome and Brian has reportedly gotten alot of respect backstage after that suicide dive. WWE really showed how high they were on him putting him against the world heavyweight. Also you know fuck Michael Cole, etc, etc.

However, yeah he looks different from the other wrestlers in NXT. But since he looks like he's living in the past, that's not entirely a good thing. His image change doesnt need to be drastic. If, for example he cut and/or styled his hair and traded in the monochrome leggings and trunks for a set which had a design on them, and had a matching design on his robe that'd keep a part of his look in tact while making him look less like Bob Backlund.

Even the old school guys have/had to update their look to adjust for the times. What looked good in the seventies doesn't now, and Danielson should stop rocking the, bland, dated gear that worked in the indies and get some gear that reflects the fact that fashions have changed over the last 40 years.

When I heard that Bryan wanted to go to FCW and work off his ring rust, the first thing that came to my mind was how professional that was. He earned a lot of respect from me for that. He could have went to the main show but instead wanted to make sure he was perfect before he debuted.

I think NXT was the best thing he could have done. This way he is getting exposure without getting lost in the shuffle. He has a ready-made feud with The Miz coming up. He has a TV show of his own where he can shine. I think he made the 100% right choice.

He hasn't always worn the maroon tights. He has worn white, blue and black as well. The maroon has only come to be an everyday thing in the past few years. He does have a pair of maroon tights and matching kick pads with silver designs on them that he wears on occasion. They do happen to match his robe. I'm sure he'll break them out at some point in the near future.

In regard to his hair, he has different hair styles every couple of months. Hell, he was bald with a huge beard a few years back. The WWE did cut and style his hair, it was much longer just a few months ago.

The whole point of the clean and classic ring attire is to show that he is all business and about substance rather than the glitz. Getting to see all of the flamboyant personalities that NXT will be offering us, I think keeping his traditional look is important to ensure that he stands out.

BTW, why Bob Backlund? Of all people...Bob Backlund? That breaks my heart that you are saying the the most beautiful man in the world looks like....Bob Backlund. You're killing me! ;)

I'm sure he will as well. However my problem isn't wholey with the colour, or even the style. He can keep the overall look largely as is if they make the style seem less outdated and monotone (which will probably happen within the next 16 weeks). I'm not a huge fan of the shinguards though, but that's just a niggle.

I'm glad to hear that he wont have his current Bob Backlund do for much longer. Hopefully his next haircut will result in him looking like the wrestling machine he is and/or the badass he's capable of being.

Standing out is great sometimes. However his current attire looks dated and dull. The attire that a wrestler wears is a reflection of them. The British Invasion, The British Bulldog and Drew McIntyre all display their nationality on their attire. John Morrison's bejewled trousers and fur coats match his flashy style. RVD's singlets were unique (which he is also). Danielson's attire sends the message that he's from 40 years ago, which is not a good message for the world's best wrestler to send.

http://www.wwe.com/superstars/wherearetheynow/photos/BobBacklundPhotos/ClassicPhotos/. Because Bryan's a dead ringer of a young Bob Backlund. I'm not going to comment on him being the best looking man in the world though. Mainly because I dont have an opinion on the subject.

Exactly, Remix. I would go farther though...not only does he look like a wrestler from 40 years ago, he looks like a jobber wrestler from 40 years ago. You know, the boring looking local guy that nobody has ever heard of, whose job is to lose to the well known wrestler in a quick match? Thats the guy Danielson looked like. His look is completely forgettable. In a previous post, I compared his look to a booted Kevin Von Erich. Upon reflecting, I think Bob Backlund is probably a better example of that outdated look. He just didn't look current. The image of Danielson from Doc and RVDgurl's signatures is a much better look for him.

Although jobbers are in wrestling to lose I think a lot of fans wish they would win because it would be unpredictable, something that hasn't been experienced much if at all. I don't think it's possible for many to dislike him because most of us are mirror images of him except we aren't wrestlers. It's like he is giving the fans a face whether or not he looks good. When it comes to referring to him to Bob Backlund I would think he would consider that a compliment. If you look into Backlund's background you'll see he has won countless awards and belts. Something that I think Danielson would like to strive to get, something that every wrestler should.

i think they've got this planned out perfectly. Bryan is gonna win NXT hands down.now remember Mr.Striker said they could challenge for ANY title they wanted at a pay per view. Vince knows people are gonna pay to see Bryan kick the shit outta Miz for that US title. this gives Big Show enough time to get some real ring knowledge into the Miz,and make him a formidable opponent for Bryan. That's gonna be and EPIC match i'm sure of it
