Welcome to My (And Not Sly's) House
What does this even mean? Percentage-wise, wrestling is more popular in the first country than in the last, in your example. Let me actually retract my statement about Japan's population, as it's only a little over 40 percent of the US' population. Still, if you have just as many people in Japan going to wrestling shows as in the US (numbers don't lie; there is proof that this was the case throughout the 80s, 90s, and first-half of the 00s), then this means that that a greater percentage of the population in Japan enjoys wrestling.
Yes and no. One thing you have to keep in mind: people that don't go to live events. For example, a few years ago TNA came to a town about 30 minutes from my house. It was 50 dollars for the cheapest seat in the house. I wouldn't pay that much to go to it, yet I still watch the show on TV. Now don't get me wrong: on a regular basis, live event attendance in Japan is indeed likely bigger, but that doesn't mean more people watch it overall, which was my point with the 500,000 thing. Also, that's just in America. How many countries get WWE programming and how many get any other individual promotion? I would assume Japanese fans watch WWE as well (certainly could be wrong and if I am then I am), but I know very few American fans that watch Puro, as is evidenced here if nothing else.
