Marijuana Anthems

Smooth Sexual Chocolate

Grapefruits of Wrath
I know its hard for everyone to believe that I came up with this idea while smoking a (not so fine, surprisingly) bowl of greens.

Simple thread here, post your favorite songs about weed, pot, marijuana, hemp, keef, hash, bongs, blunts, joints, and spliffs. As long as its a song about THC its acceptable here.

I will start us off with one that everyone probably knows, and that's Smoke Two Joints. Originally recorded by The Toyes, almost always confused as a Bob Marley Original, and maybe even more famously covered by Sublime, and the Sublime cover is what I will post, as its the easiest version to come across.

A true Marijuana classic.

Keep em' coming, so the :rasta: can keep burning.

Okay, no takers yet, I'll keep it going with another classic, this track reeks of weed, literally.

When the album was first released, it featured a marijuana-scented sticker.

tosh_legalf.jpg

The song Legalize it, off the album of the same name was Peter Tosh's debut album released in 1976. This song stands the test of time, mainly because of how relevant it still is. Ask any one out there who enjoys puffing the occasional greenery. This is a message that any stoner can get behind, and the government might be wise to start turning a profit, especially out here in California, buts that's another thread for another sub forum.

Here it is.

I can't listen to music about weed, without wanting to start smoking immediately. With that said everyone should sit back and roll a phatty. :rasta:

Well the first song I have to post is from them Flint-stone Thugs, putting it down for Flint Town. I love the beat to this song. Only potheads could make Chariots Of Fire into a rap song.

SO HIGH~The Dayton Family

This next song is for everyone who talks shit about us potheads. I don't judge people for the choices they make so why do people judge me for smoking a plant? It says in the BIBLE to smoke weed! Geniuses 1:12 Anyway...

Proud To Be A Stoner~ Kottonmouth Kings

I Love You Marry Jane!!!!!!

Thank you Mr. Lama, both tracks where completely fresh to my ears, and I enjoyed both of them enough to boot up the old limewire for some music downloading action.

I was just going to reply to the Lamas awesome post, but I think I can pull out another stoner track, I remember listening to this "joint" (see what I did there) before I even started smoking. A comical, yet very true song about everyone's favorite pastime.... Getting High!

Afroman
Because I got High

"I was gonna clean my room, until I got high"

:rasta:

Well, while I don't don't smoke Mary Jane, I can't help but mention this song.

Cypress Hill- Hits from the bong

I really like this song because of just how laid back it is. It has a great flow that just relaxes you somehow. Perfect for weed smoking. If I ever try my first pot smoking experience, it would be to this song. That's really all I have to say about it. It's just too damn cool.

So I'm done posting the obvious ones now, I was going to post a couple famous oldies by Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, but I'll wait on those, in anticipation of someone else droppin' a little knowlage about those tracks.

I'll be touching base with my electronic roots for these next couple marijuana anthems. The first is a killer Psy-Trance track by 1200 Micrograms, appropriately titled marijuana. While listening to this track slowly being transported into another dimension, make sure to listen up two and half minutes in, as a very important marijuana message will be delivered.

1200 Micrograms

This video was a total trip, if you like zoning out to crazy shit.

I'll save my next electronic marijuana track for my next post, as I have a few Dubstep themed marijuana anthems, with fantastically positive marijuana messages.

Until next time, may the marijuana be with you :rasta:

Okay, so I'm going to hold off on the marijuana Dubstep for one more post, only because when I awoke this morning, the original song that inspired my thread idea popped into my head. Only a stoner would start a thread and then forget the song that was originally going to be posted.

Any who, this track truly is a marijuana anthem, especially out here on the West Coast (Bay Area specifically). So this song goes out to the late great Mac Dre. A Bay area legend considered to be one of the originators of the "hyphy" movement and is also credited with coining the "thizz" style. Mac Dre worked with some of the top West Coast producers, including Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, Too $hort, E-40 and Andre Nickatina. There is also much drama surrounding the murder of Mac Dre, and anyone who finds Biggie and Tupac fued exciting should take a quick peak at Mac Dre's wiki.

Before I get to carried away, and without further ado, my favorite Mac Dre song, and probably my all time favorite Marijuana Anthem.

Mac Dre

"I need an eighth, of sticky gooey"

Every line in this song is an instant fucking classic

Smoke Weed Bitches :rasta:

I am not much of a smoker but if I was it would be to one band and one band alone, though some of the above listed are great. That band is MGMT. They are one of the trippiest bands going today.

I love their music and it would be amazing to get stoned to the sounds of MGMT.

I hate smoking to songs about smoking. It seems too skeevy and stonerish, if that makes any sense. When I light up, which is very often, I pop in something relaxing with a good atmosphere to it. Like this gem:

Minus the Bear is one of my favorite bands. This is just an example, they have a ton of awesome songs to get baked to.

Well Indy, you would fit right in with a joint in your hand, nothing makes makes the brain happier than a heavy dose of thc and a good C.D. I'm familiar with their song electric feel, and this one is solid as well. If its not to much trouble, I would suggest adding a few MGMT tracks over in the electronic sampler thread.

http://forums.wrestlezone.com/showthread.php?t=98424

Now, onto the promised Dubstep track, because I know you've all be on edge just waiting for me to post it. This is most definitely my favorite marijuana based dub tracks, Its got everything you want in a good Dubstep track, a sweet beat, extra wobbly bass, and a fucking awesome marijuana message.

I would like to dedicate my next song to a family friend. This song goes out to Bubba. Bubba was an old black man who was dieing of Diabetes. One day he said Fuck it and turned his whole house into a grow room. There was plants every where you look, he had paths that you had to walk through. His logic was what are they going to do put me in jail I'll be dead in nine moths. Sadly he did die shortly afterward. I used to love going over to his house as he was a wrestling fan like I was, he would always invite us over for the PPV's. (only 4 back then) His house was also the first place I saw the NWA.
Anyway here we go........

Cypress Hill~Dr.Green Thumb...

Sometimes when my pipe is full of resin I clean it put it on a paper then roll a joint. I like to call them "bubba joints" as thats how he smoked them.

BLAZE UP!!!

Lama, that story truly warms a stoners heart, I'm still waiting on that Chicken Soup for the Stoners Soul to be released, excellent song selection as well.

Its amazing how many songs are dedicated so this lovely plant, thank you Mother Nature. So to continue on here, I'll be posting a classic marijuana reggae anthem, though I'm going to post a cover of the song instead, only because I'm more familiar with the cover version. This track randomly come on one of the Comcast music channels, and it was love at first sight.

More marijuana bliss, there are just so many good songs about pot. Your mom tells you to finish your greens, I tell you to smoke them. :rasta:

A lot of people don't like 50 Cent but I've always been a big fan. This song came off his debut and best album Get Rich or Die Tryin. I used to smoke to this song all the time. My roommate didn't like too much rap outside of Bone Thugs, Pac, and 50 so this was always a song in "rotation."

Every time I sit down to post a marijuana song I want to start it off the same way, but this really is one of my favorite weed songs, just like all the other weed songs.

So today I'm going to drop a little Andre Nickatina, by far my favorite all time rap artist, It was hard to find a song that was just about weed, although weed is mentioned in almost all of his songs. It would of been a lot easier If we where doing songs about Coke.... Witch gets me thinking, maybe we're about ready for Nose Candy Anthems.

Quite a sexy nug of love right there, only quality coming from the bay, that goes for rap and weed :rasta:

I'll get the big guns to post in here any way I can, more marijuana drawing power.

Fuckin' A man.

Thank you for the contribution X, feel free to stop by anytime and post some more marijuana anthems.

So I have to admit this is the first time I have ever heard this song, and Its fucking awesome, I'm blown away, every god damn line this song has to do with weed, and that's what this thread is all about.

I think by the end of this thread we may be able to compile a legit 100 song list of the top marijuana anthems, so the new goal is to get 100 marijuana based songs. I think its definitely possible, so smoke up and get posting.

So I had the intention of posting the first video, and that was gonna be it. That was until I came across an even better song than the one I was going to post.

So the video above is a classic reggae track, where the one underneath is more of a reggae/ska style.

Both tracks deliver the message that I'm looking for, and that message is smoke herbs. Proposition 215, its a medical need.

I was pretty much blown away that I have never managed to come across a marijuana song, by an artist who I consider myself pretty familiar with, but that is the great thing about music, you may think you know every song by a certain artist, and out of know where you'll come across a hidden gem.

I love my music, and I love my weed :rasta:

I was originally going to make another post in the Electronic Sampler Platter with this artist, who is popular in the UK but not very well-known in America. However, this song immediately reminded me of this thread. I love me some electronic music, and this is one of my favorite Calvin Harris songs.

Calvin Harris
Merrymaking At My Place

I know it's more of a drug anthem than a marijuana anthem, but it mentions smoking "stuff", so it works. I've never done marijuana or drugs of any sort but I'm interested, and this seems like a fun song to get blazed to. Someone's going to have to test it out and get back to me on that.

Excellent job Doc, indeed it does fit the criteria. Also, this was my first listen to Calvin Harris, I remember him from some of your old sigs, but never gave him a listen. After hearing Merrymaking At My Place I definitely want to hear some more, and would love if you posted a few more tracks in the Electronic thread too. I haven't gotten around to giving the Neuroticfish tracks my full attention yet, but I will make sure to give those songs good listen, and get back to you with some more electronic goodies.

For now, a little more rap, by far my favorite SPM (South Park Mexican) track. The quote underneath says it all, maybe my all time favorite drug line in any song.

SPM
I Must Be High

"Why when I'm not not high, does my life feel like its missing something. I know that I must be high so that I can function"

By the way Doc, I had just gotten high off my first smoke of the day before listening to Calvin Harris, and indeed it is a good song to get blaze to. Every thing changes once you mix Music and Marijuana.

Heh, glad to hear it.

This next song always reminds me of an episode of an anime (Cowboy Bebop) called "Mushroom Samba". In that episode, the crew on their ship eat some shrooms and get high. The episode is one of my favorite episodes of any show, ever, because of the humor and how interesting it is.

This song reminds me of it for a few reasons: One, the genre it is is sometimes called "Acid Jazz", apparently. It's also very definitely a drug song. And a sex song. Maybe a drugged sex song. And I love it.

Jamiroquai
Radio

I dig the craziness of the song, and yet the lingering chillness underneath everything.

Also, amusingly, the CD it's on is called High Times.

Okay, last time I posted this song I was drunk, it took twenty minutes, and I still spamed. :wtf:

The first time I heard this song I was at my boys house. We were sitting around getting high and he put this song on.

LUNIZ~I GOT FIVE ON IT

This is a classic song, I think every pothead who likes Hip Hop/Rap has heard it.

After a few years went by I stopped seeing that kid as much, as people do.
Then in 2005 one of my favorite rap duos Twiztid came out with a new CD(Man's Myth Vol.1).So like all their other shit I had to get it. While previewing some of the tracks on the way home I was already liking my purchase. Then while checking out the songs on the back of the CD, I noticed after the 13th song it said *BONUS FLAVOR*, so I skipped right to it to see what it was. I was taken on a trip down memory lane with what I heard.
TWIZTID~"BONUS FLAVOR"

I must have smoked down to this song everyday for what seemed like three months.

There is another Marijuana Anthem on this CD as well, but I'll save that for another post. I like the thought of 100 Marijuana Anthems, but I bet well get a hell of a lot more.

This isn't really my song- but one of the songs a friend would love to play whenever he was smoking. Whenever I listen to it, it always transports me back into his slighty smokey bedroom at the top of our student house. I trust I don't have to explain what he is singing about :p

This is a song I gave to xfearbefore a couple of weeks ago more so becuase I think its a really cool song and the rapper has an interesting voice. Apparently he is speaking about weed- but unless you know german.... :D

My friend also really liked to listen to this song as well so I trust you guys might as well. Its nice and chilled out and relaxed with a comfortable rap again.

My next song takes just a slight twist, as where the other songs I posted were about the love of weed, this song brings up the down side to smoking weed. What down side you maybe asking, When you get a bag and its full of seeds. Man that shit sucks and we all have been through it so here is a song about it.
The song is off the Psychopathics From Outer Space Part 2 album.

VIOLENT J & ABK(AnyBodyKilla)~Mr. Sesame Seed

Now I don't suggest calling the person you get your weed from Orville Redebacher or anything like that, I made that mistake and he stopped answering the phone for a minute,oh well, what do ya do?

Next time I post I'll go for a non-Hip Hop song as every style of music has some great Marijuana Anthems.
BLAZE UP !!!

THE RAMONES~HOWLING AT THE MOON(SHA-LA-LA)

I had this album as a kid and skipped over this song all the time. Having never really listened to it I had no idea what it was about. Then one day I got high and was listing to the whole cd and the lyrics to this song kinda jumped out at me. I remember thinking "is this song about drugs?.....yep, imagine that." As I got older I found out Dee Dee Ramone was a big pothead.
"ships are docking, planes are landing , never ending supply." Great shit to my ears.
This quickly beame one of my favorite Ramones songs.

Please don't let this thread die. So many great Marijuana Anthems have yet to be posted. Hell we don't even got a BONE song yet (I was waiting for Ty to post the first).

Blaze Up!!

I originally tried to post the videos with this but I couldn't get them to work. If someone could explain the right way to do it for me that would be much appreciated since apparently I don't know how to do it myself. The videos are all on youtube, check them out if you don't know the songs I mention, and even if you do check them out and burn some tree.

Right here, probably one of the greatest weed anthems if not the greatest of all time.

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony - Weed Song

If I wrote a love song about weed, this would be it.

This really got played through a lot of blunts, bongs, and bowls. A personal favorite.

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony - Budsmokers Only

Most of you might not be so familiar with this artist or this song, but it's called "Brown Sugar" and it's by a guy called Dangelo. If you listen to the lyrics you will understand, and it's a very smooth song to marinate to.

How could you leave out 3-6? Bin Laden weed is one of the best ever.

Any Korn fans? Did any of you actually take a listen to Fieldy's solo rap album, imaginatively titled, 'Fieldy's Dreams'? There's a track on there called 'You Save Me' which is pretty much a song thanking marijuna for preventing Fieldy from being a whacked out psycho. The chorus goes something like:

"You saved me (sticky-icky-icky),
From being crazy (I don't wanna be picky)
You never let me down, your amazing
A gift from the brothers, so crazy!"

Hell, he even samples a phone call with Cheech Marin at the beginning (may not actually be him, but it's implied that it's him)

Then about 5 tracks later, is 'One Love' which is pretty much the same thing, but with more of a 'fuck it, let's get high' kind of feel to it.
