Legalize Marijuana

I agree with alot of the things said by Todd; but to be honest, I am completely against the legalization of Marijuana. If it were to ever be legalized, it would end up under the complete control of our government. With the government in control, they can basically regulate the distribution of it as much as they want. They can even make laws that prevent people from growing their own plants and thus force the user to buy their overpriced version of Marijuana. By legalizing Marijuana you basically tell them, "here, take the last bit of hope we have from preventing a complete corporate society in which that one little green paper dictates our lives."

Assuming that this were to become a reality, this wouldn't change anything. As it is right now, you can not smoke, possess, or grow marijuana. If the government legalized marijuana for the purpose of profit, it would still serve to benefit pot smokers, they could legally carry and smoke marijuana. Even if the government sought to exploit smokers by selling pot at very high prices, one could still just buy from an illegal dealer, which they must do already, only difference being that after their illegal purchase they could smoke/possess it freely.

Picture this: Marijuana has been legalized. This means that the role of a "connect" would ultimately become unnecessary for the most part. Truly, it’s hard to believe that any of the dealers would be able to compete with the market that ends up in control of the Marijuana distribution. Simply put, that market would grow to monopolize the entirety of all distribution. Not only that, but am pretty sure the penalty for growing your own plants or even distributing the bud "illegally" would be far worse than they are now; especially considering the fact that Marijuana is now legal.

It’s supply and demand. The "need" for it would grow x10; but the supply for it would decrease x20. As a result, we get inflated prices. So what do the commoners say? "Fuck that! Ima hit up so-and-so and see if they are still on deck." -- The problem would then be that so-and-so would no longer be on deck, and that’s because he went out of business months ago. Why? Because he wasn't getting as much customers anymore due to all of them being able to buy Marijuana legally.

You see the connecting dots here? Of course, everything I just mentioned is nothing more than a prediction. Who knows as to what extents the government would go. But forsure, I wouldn’t put it passed them to go to the complete extremities just to show the world how much control they have. Sometimes I like to imagine that if Marijuana were to ever be legalized, that the people in control would start blazin’ on a day-to-day basis and realize that their new world order is nothing but a twisted, retartded way of living life.

Super Awesome great point made something that I have thought of in the past but I strongly believe marijuana needs to be legalized and handled similar to how they do it in places like Amsterdam and put regulations on it like alcohol by doing that would wipe out a huge population of the drug dealers. As long as they gave us the same quality just has license sellers selling it and a marijuana selling license should be just like having a alcohol selling license. In Amsterdam they have a good system with they way they handle there marijuana and also more than 50% of the people there didn't go on to use other drugs. I'd feel more comfortable buying my weed of a a professional seller where I would know I'm getting quality bud and a good portion. I've dealt with a lot of sketchy drug dealers and been ripped before and I would rather buy it from a store then some sketch ball on the street.

That would also stop a lot of gang violence because between drug cartels and gang members they cause so much violence by having marijuana illegal. Since very beginning on the war on drugs we have spent over a trillion dollars on a war our government is losing miserably to. Legalizing would empty our prisons letting out so many innocent people arrested for marijuana violations. Just think how guys like Michael Vick can get a slap on the wrist because he said he tortured and killed dogs for many years because it was family culture or the kid Rutgers can only get 30 days for spying on his gay room leading to him to commit suicide, but Marc Emery gets five years in an American prison for selling seeds in Canada. How is that fair justice?

There’s too much evidence today that proves marijuana isn’t bad for you. Legalizing it would boost up our economy in big numbers. With it being legal we would be able to grow hemp. I believe the real crime is that we are not allowed to grow hemp. It is the best crop in the world and you can get over 25,000 different uses from the plant. Hemp is a great source of food, fabric, medicine, and a fuel. By making marijuana legal we wouldn’t have to buy oil over seas any more and hemp fuel is bunch better for our environment. The hemp plant releases a carbon dioxide that is great for the environment. Many other countries still produce hemp, I just can't come up with one good reason on why growing hemp is illegal and that’s because there isn't. I began writing to congress about this issue so I'm doing more than just bitching on a wrestling forum about this. I just think our country needs to get their heads out the sand and realize the benefits from this plant.

Your posts are unbearable to read, Todd. Put more effort into your posts and quit making us potheads look like morons.

Drug dealers will still be around. They'll just buy the shit for kids and traffic it in dry areas. Other than that I agree with you, sorta. Have you been to other places in Europe where marijuana is tolerated? The Netherlands isn't the only one.

The "War on Drugs" is a failure since humanity will never quit doing that stuff. I'm not touching the middle of the paragraph with a 10ft pole. As for Marc Emery, it was part of the DEA's agenda. The bitch in charge even admitted to it 'cause they're supposed to take down anything pro-drugs. Unfortunately he sent cannabis seeds to Americans and that was a big no-no, but extraditing him and imprisoning him in America was not cool.

There's plenty of evidence that conflict with each other, but we turn a blind eye to the negative studies. ;)

I wouldn't say big numbers, but there's potential since it's an industry limited to a few states.

The reason hemp is illegal is because the government is stupid enough to believe hemp is a drug when it's clearly not. The rest of your paragraph went to shit.

By "drug dealers" am assuming you mean drug dealers for Marijuana specifically, right? Did you know. That most of these "drug dealers" are ordinary people like you and me?

As long as they gave us the same quality just has license sellers selling it and a marijuana selling license should be just like having a alcohol selling license. Hahawat. You're telling me that you'd rather buy from a "business-looking" location over "under the table (kinda like it's done today)", yea? Haha, bro, with that kinda ishh you'd end up ripped off alot worse than you are with the people you deal with out on the streets. If you're really getting as ripped off as you say you are than that's your fault for not saying anything about it.

That would also stop a lot of gang violence because between drug cartels and gang members they cause so much violence by having marijuana illegal.

We're talking about the US/Europe in specific here, or are we including the rest of the world? Because if it's just the former, than I have no idea what you're talking about. No such thing exists in our parts of the world. if they do, they're too minimal to be significant.

This unfair justice you speak of is purposely done for a variety of reasons. For someone who knows so much about Marijuana you sure lack some common sense about it.

I’ll quit making the pot heads look like morons when you quit making the humans look like morons

And for the both of you If you actually read my post I said a huge population of drug dealers would be wiped out. I know that there will still be drug dealers but far less if we had marijuana dispensaries like in California and it was open to the public there would be less drug dealers. Those a black market for all products that are legal. Also when people confront the dealer about getting ripped off that can potentially lead to violence, I've met sketchy people before and if they gave me a weak bag and I don't know the person that well I don't say anything I just don't buy off them anymore and tell my friends not to buy from them too. Today there’s plenty of people who sell pot it's pretty easy to get I just rather buy the same amount of weed at a store where it's perfectly legal than from my buddy in his car. Can you tell me what part of Marc Emery isn't unfair justice?

Yeah I'm not reading through all these pages, I skimmed some stuff on the first page. But I'm going to let my voice be heard as this is an issue very near and dear to my heart. As I... am... a stoner.

Yup. Not ashamed of it. I'm ashamed of America for treating us like dirty filthy bottom of the barrell scumbags for so many years. Finally some true light is being shed on Marijuana.

It's truly ridiculous... they give so many different kind of pills out to the sick and injured, they truly do more harm than good. All of them have side effects and will fuck up your body more than marijuana. Think about, Marijuana, a natural plant... god's plant. Now think about prescription pills... man made... man made combinations of chemicals that perhaps shouldn't go together.

I always say... give me a reason not to smoke weed. There is no logical reason, other than the fact that it is illegal. But I'm not no damn sheep. I don't agree with our government... I think the government is way out of line with how they run our country. The Constituion mind as well be used as toilet paper at the white house.

Every time I hear news about weed.. it's always good... benefits.. benefits... benefits. They are finally starting to study weed more, which they haven't been able to do due to the illegalness of it. So everday new studies are released on the benefits. Ranging from a study of having people smoke a joint a day for 20 years.. which actually showed some IMPROVED lung function. To autism, ADD, and other mental illnesses that it actually HELPS. As the original poster said... I defiantly feel like weed has enchanced my knowledge. You get a different perspective on things you see everyday... you see it in a light you normally would not.

I sometimes wonder if I've become addicted.. I've been smoking for probably 3 years on a daily basis.. but everytime I consider my addiction to it.. I stop and think... why should I stop? My health isn't falling apart, I'm not losing my mind, hell I feel better than I have my entire life.

The fact that weed is illegal in the first place just straight up pisses me off. The fact that the government can control your private life, is a complete fucking joke.

2012 could be a breakthrough year for Marijuana, several states are going to be trying to decriminalize/legal it come election season. I will be watching very closely... marijuana means that much to me.. that I am going to move to whichever of the states decides to legalize it first. Because for once.. I'll be able to live happy and affordably. Undoubtly marijuana prices would come down if it were legal. And even more importantly, I'll feel more accepted as a human being in America. The weed laws and bogus drug war they put out has made potheads looked down upon by several people. Were nothing more than junkies and drug abusers? Even though I don't touch alcohol.. I can literally feel my brain cells being destroyed and my body being poisoned everytime I would drink. Weed just uplifts me.

Here's to hoping someday I can smoke weed like people smoke cigarettes. Playing volleyball outside with the cousins, time for a weed break.. throw a smile on.. no one can critize you or look down upon you because finally our government has legalized it.. and I can just enjoy the rays of sun without having being looked at as a criminal. That's what it should be about, uniting as a people. Even other americans who oppose legalization... really? Your trying to control other peoples lives? Trying to tell us what we can and can't do? Well what If I tell you you can't drive your car anymore because it pollutes the planet and puts everyone's lifes at risk... very true... yet it's all good to fly 65 mph down a highway and have your life and others on the line at any turn. Yet smoking a harmless plant, which hasn't killed anybody is the heel in America...

What kind of twisted world do we live in?
