Great Moments In WZ History

To be honest, I'm not going to make the funeral thread because I have a friend that is serving overseas and I don't feel comfortable making jokes about that sort of thing.

That said, I don't find the "Milenko is dead" jokes to be in bad taste. Nobody is making him because he's in the army, they're making them because he's Milenko. If joining the army makes you immune to being the butt of a joke, than we can't make fun of Bill Cosby, Drew Carey, or Mr. T.

So come on down, because I pity the fool that bops his boobity with his bipty boppity.
So you have no problem participating in these jokes (which you have already done here) even though you have a friend serving overseas. How would you feel if people he knew started making jokes about his funeral? It'd be pretty shitty, right? I'm not saying I'm his friend or anything, but still, it's just shitty. Joking about ANYONES death is shitty, but a military-related death is worse.

The guy isn't here. There's no need to make fun of him. It doesn't make you cool, funny, or anything. As I said it makes you a douche. Making fun of someone when they're here is one thing. Making fun of someone when they are busy doing something selfless like joining the military is just shitty, man.

You're damn right. Treating someone with dignity and respect when they deserve it. That's Vintage Stormtrooper right there. Proud to say that, too.
So anyone who joins the army has to gain respect? Anyone with good enough physical health can join. That doesn't mean they all do it to "serve their country" either. Some do it for the benefits, other because they have no clue what they want, some get talked to it, others actually wanna ser.... Wait a minute, Milenko actually passed those physicals?

Don't be silly, if anyone joked about NorCal dying, he'd kill them. They'd also deal with a shit storm of backlash because NorCal is a good person that people like. You still can't seem to grasp the fact that people aren't making these jokes because Milenko is in the military, they're making them because he's Milenko, a dumbass that is prone to saying/doing stupid things.

And if you can't handle jokes about death, that's a you problem, not an us problem. People have been joking about death for centuries. They've done it so much so that there's an entire genre dealing with it called "black humor."

Ever the pillar of morality, aren't you? Or maybe just the biggest buzzkill in the history of WrestleZone forums.

I respect the guts of anyone to volunteer to put themselves in hostile situations. It takes courage to do that, as people signing up for the military know full well that there's a chance that they will die.

That said, if that person is an idiot we should still be allowed to make fun of him for being an idiot. As far as I'm concerned that's what these "Milenko died when he accidentally poisoned himself" jokes are all about.

I understand what you're trying to say, I'm just not sure I agree with the difference. You're not making jokes about Milenko, you're making jokes which insinuate he is dead. If it were simply Milenko jokes, about how he did or said something stupid, fair enough. But this is a little different. I imagine you can understand the difference.

I do, but I once again point out that people have been making jokes about death for centuries. I would imagine Milenko wouldn't approve of folks joking about his death (or maybe he would, he was a strange dude), but that doesn't mean it's wrong to do so de facto.

In essence, offensiveness is hardly objective. What some find offensive others find funny, interesting, or stimulating. Just because Stormtrooper finds these jokes offensive doesn't mean the people that enjoy them are "douchebags," it means that they have a different sense of humor than he.

Your jokes suggest you wish death upon Milenko who, to the best of my knowledge, has never done anything to deserve such a wish. I think that's the line Stormtrooper feels is being crossed and shouldn't.

Nobody is wishing death upon Milenko. The joke is that he is dead. I'm pretty sure people have joked that BC was dead during his absence, and I doubt he's the only one. I know when I was in high school people joked that I was dead all the time (I missed A LOT of time in high school thanks to Crohn's Disease), and it never phased me. If anything it at least let me know that I was missed.

The only difference is that Milneko's absence is caused by military service, and while I agree that this is something to be respected, it does not make him immune to being the butt of a joke.

Normally I wouldn't care about this, And I doubt Milenko would either. But the whole thing with CM demonstrates that death of members is a very real thing, and really shouldn't be joked about in any fashion.

Your jokes suggest otherwise.

Who? I mean, who is BC?

I don't disagree, except for the type of joke being made. I'm sure whatever Milenko is doing, it's probably not dangerous. Hell, he may have made the whole thing up just to create an Alt, I don't know. But military service comes with the very real possibility of being killed. Making light of that is not only distasteful towards Milenko, but also disrespectful to the thousands of soldiers who have been killed.

I'm not telling you that you have to stop, I'm just saying it's distasteful and Stormtrooper is not in the wrong.

The funny thing here is, I fully agree that the joke is in poor taste. But at the same time, in a strange way, I'm sure Milenko would be thrilled, flattered even, to know people are still discussing him in his absence.

Your jokes suggest otherwise.

I don't see why. Since when does joking about someone being dead equate to wishing someone was dead? I joke about having a small penis, but I don't actually want one.

Who? I mean, who is BC?

Blue Cardinal. He was a Bar Room guy I suppose.

So you're saying that you miss Milenko, the man who joined the military?

No, I just really like to know that people think about me.

Once again, people aren't making fun of him because he's in the army, people are making fun of him because he's Milenko. If you have a problem with folks joking about death that's your problem, not a problem with the society at large.

He has just as much of a right to be offended by it as SNS has to make the joke in the first place.

Allow me to ask this then. There were times when Milenko wasn't signed onto the forum, a couple days at a time. How come people weren't making that joke then? How come it was only after he went into the military that people started making the death joke?

I think you're being disingenuous when you say Milenko's military service has nothing to do with it.

I don't doubt that they did. Nothing comes to mind, but I can all but guarantee that with a little digging someone could find someone making a joke about Milenko getting himself killed.

What I mean is that his service isn't the reason why people are making fun of him. It factors into the joke itself, but it's not why people are making fun of him in the first place.

But his service IS the joke. You might be making fun of Milenko because of the dumb things he has said or done, but the focal point of the joke is his military service.

Based on what you're saying, I could just as easily take the crying 5 year old kid in the seat in front of me on an airplane, find out she has cancer, and then make a joke how she's going to die. After all, I'm only making the joke because the kid annoyed me and didn't do what she was supposed to do on the plane.

Obviously, that's a rather extreme example, but would you be comfortable with making a death joke about a 5 year old with cancer?

Save your faces for someone that doesn't know your regular bag of tricks, Slyfox.

No, the focal point of the joke is that Milenko is an idiot.

Not to that kid's face, no, and probably not in general because she's 5 years old. Also, cancer isn't a particularly funny way to die. Poisoning yourself is rather humorous.

I think that face accurately expressed my thoughts without me having to go through the trouble of typing them out.

There have been MANY jokes about Milenko being an idiot. This is the first I've ever noticed which involves planning his funeral.

Not to that kid's face, no
And yet, you have no problem posting it to a forum Milenko could very well read at a later time?

Also, cancer isn't a particularly funny way to die.
And being killed while serving in the military is?

Anyways, I'm tired of this conversation, but more importantly, I'm just tired. And I'm going to bed. Like I said, I'm not telling you or anyone else they can't make the joke, all I'm saying is that the joke is distasteful and Stormtrooper has a point.

Neither is dying in the military, which 99% of the time involves violence at the hands of the enemy.

Do you have proof that he is? I don't need to prove that Milenko is alive, as we have proof that he has lived (based on the last time he posted) and with zero proof to the contrary, we cannot assume he's dead.

You need proof to prove he's dead. You are just making wild accusations with virtually no evidence to the contrary.

I think that face accurately expressed my thoughts without me having to go through the trouble of typing them out.

Then why not save yourself the trouble and just post this ":banghead:" every time you engage in a conversation with someone?

There have been MANY jokes about Milenko being an idiot. This is the first I've ever noticed which involves planning his funeral.

You also didn't know who BC was. You're not as in touch with the Bar Room enough to be qualified to make these calls.

And yet, you have no problem posting it to a forum Milenko could very well read at a later time?

Are you comparing Milenko to a 5 year old with cancer?

And being killed while serving in the military is?

By poisoning yourself? Absolutely, regardless of if you're in the military, serving as president, or supreme ruler of the galaxy. The only way it isn't funny is maybe if you're pregnant. Is Milenko pregnant?

What you find distasteful others don't. That's my point. You can't say that anything is objectionably distasteful. Even hardcore wrestling has its merits. I don't know what they are, but apparently some people like it.

Wrong. Overwhelmingly wrong.
