Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Nah. I don't need to eat for the next few weeks.

Civil War reviews are making me pee a little. #TeamCap

You figured the movie was either going to be fun and exciting or a bit of a bummer.

Sounds like this could be one of Marvel's most special movies yet. Though I'd argue their only truly special movie thus far is Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Russos delivering a very good Cap film twice in a row is an excellent sign for their takeover of the Avengers. Very much looking forward to that.

EDIT: Temporary moment of insanity thinking they had somehow done Ant-Man.

I like Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Michael Pena made for a great comic sidekick. But yeah, the movie was just above okay.

Apparently reviews are praising his role in Civil War, so that's exciting.

Peña has always seemed to be a guy that flies under the radar, but puts in a good performance. His comedy stuff is usually funny as hell, but he can be pretty decent in more serious roles like End Of Watch.

Unfortunately he is tapped to be in the remake of CHiPs which will probably suck ass considering Dax Shepard is starring\directing. I find him pretty annoying in basically everything he has done.

Marvel is either massively trolling, or they're about to roll the dice. Death Of X has been announced for the fall, and it appears they're going to put down the X-Franchise once and for all in the comics. Good news, it's a natural jumping off point for fans of the franchise. In other good news, most of the online retailers are running a "Death of X" sale currently, blowing out X-Book Collections for 60% off. Bad news is this is obviously bullshit to long time fans like me. I want to enjoy my franchise, and it's a shame fans are collateral damage in the Cold War between Fox and Disney v

Do the individuals fall under the banner also get shelved? Because ditching someone like Wolverine, Magneto or Cyclops seems like a bad idea.

Well wolverine, jean Grey, Xavier and Cyclops (all 616 versions) are all dead and gone. They'll do what they did with Fantastic Four, scatter them all around the Marvel Universe, but no FF book (Thing is a Guardian and Torch is in Inhumans). I imagine the X-Characters will further be scattered into Inhumans (Beast is there), Guardians (Kitty is there), and Avengers (Rogue, Cable, Deadpool and many New Mutants are on various teams). They'll simply dissolve the X-Franchise, scatter the characters so Fox can't mine storylines for Movies. The problem with that approach, Marvel hasn't made a good X-Story in years. The Gold Mine for movies is the Claremont run, and Fox can mine that forever.

Been a minute since I actively read them. Just picked up TPB's for various things or old issues for the collection. Since Marvel NOW started, I have read some X Force & that is probably it besides a few Thor books. Been on a bit of a DC kick & trying to finish my Spawn collection. Guess I have missed a bit of what Marvel has done.

Cyclops is dead? That is disappointing. I stopped reading comics shortly after Cyclops inherited and then disinherited the Jean Grey School.

I thought the Uncanny X-Men run was pretty good, with Cyclops as the leader of the school with several brand new mutants, the time-displaced original X-Men, and a few ship jumpers from Wolverine's X-Men. But they also fucked that up really quickly.

This news fills me with sorrow regardless of the fact that I no longer read comics. It's just depressing that Fox makes these lackluster X-Men movies and now we don't even get the comics. There's no solid new content for X-Men fans now.

At least my X-Men tattoo is slightly cooler now that it's retro.

I bet when the FOX rights run out & the Marvel movies start to lose steam, the titles will return and Marvel will make a film.

Well that's... pretty fucked. But then again Marvel did turn Thor into a woman so nothing surprises me anymore.

Cyclops died off panel in an 8 month gap, post Secret Wars. It's leading to an Inhuman/X-Men war by the looks of it.

Wait wait wait, they're gonna dissolved the entire X-universe? Oh ok, well fuck you too Marvel.

That's the rumor, but they just did it with Fantastic Four, so something has happened lately to have fans on edge. The Star Wars comics are crushing it in the sales department for Marvel, so they can afford to take a gamble by dissolving the X-Franchise.

I bet when the FOX rights run out & the Marvel movies start to lose steam, the titles will return and Marvel will make a film.

It won't happen for a long time. Fox owns the movie rights forever. Fox simply has to have a movie in development every five years. Now when you look at the entirety of the X-Universe, and you see that easily tens of thousands of comics are available to develop into a movie, Fox will never sell. Deadpool just made $750 Million on a $60 Million budget.

Also remember, Fox was the distributor for the Star Wars movies, and Lucas didn't even offer them the films when he sold to Disney. Now, Fox owns the distribution rights for the first Star Wars movie. Fox just lost its greatest franchise, so what better way to stick it to Disney by holding their most well know Marvel property away from them.

In semi fairness, there are legacy characters of each running around still.

I mean, Disney could make them a RIDICULOUS offer, as I'm sure they'd love to own the X-Men and especially the original Star Wars movies... but being that they're making money hand over fist, I doubt they're going to be throwing the billions of dollars Fox would want away just quite yet.

It wouldnt be such an issue if FOX was doing right by the franchise. Hopefully this new film is good. It is just shitty to know all this stuff is going down in the MCU without some X characters & the glaring omission of Reed Richards. FOX is fucking up the FF & even though the MCU films are good, Reed not being part of this kind of sucks ass considering the role he plays during times of conflict in the comics.

I see FF coming home to Marvel quicker than X Men though. FOX knows there is more money to be made there & have only put out the FF movies to keep the rights from lapsing. At least they are putting in more effort with the X movies. Marvel may not miss them now given all that is in the works, but soon they will & honestly FF will tie in easier to continuity so far in the MCU than the XMen will.

I have no problem with FF going back to Marvel. Clearly the franchise is toxic at the cinematic level. Fox just doesn't get that franchise. The claim is, you can't make a good FF movie, considering The Incredibles was a FF ripoff, that line of thinking is wrong.

I was a Fox-Men naysayer after the first wolverine movie, but Fox has done mostly right by that franchise. 8 movies released so far, with the 9th looking real good, and only 2 of those were dogs, and 1 of those was hamstrung by the director leaving during production.

You guys think Apocalypse is going to be alright? I'm not entirely convinced on really any level. Oscar Isaac is a good actor and all, but he just doesn't do it for me as the most powerful (and original) mutant of all time. I always think of someone with a deep commanding voice and powerful physical presence. Michael Clarke Duncan (may he rest in peace) would've been quite good come to think of it.

Fantastic Four should be pretty easy to figure out, for starters set it in the 60's where it belongs, it should be treated as a sci-fi time period flick.

Days of Future Past was excellent and Singer is a more than good director so I have faith.

Disagree with all of this. DoFP was adequate, and Singer is an okay director that made one great movie, and I'm not sure he deserves as much credit as he gets.

Yeah, agree with JGlass here. Adequate is a good word to describe it & Singer has coasted off one good film.

While seeing Psylocke & Apocalypse on screen finally has me excited, I am not sure about the whole thing. The trailers are not giving me tingles besides my nerd boner for Olivia Munn. Hopefully the movie lives up to what it should be considering how badass Apocalypse is, but with the last few movies I expected better & was let down a bit after watching.
