Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

I guess I never really caught the crazy burger topping train. Some of them are alright, but there still is nothing like a great traditional burger.

Made some BBQ chicken last weekend. Only had boneless\skinless breasts, but if you brine them for a bit before you grill, they dont dry out like normal. Damn juicy & it hit the spot. Fresh corn on the cob & hobo potatoes rounded it all out nicely.

Nothing like some good old BBQ chicken. Made some last night in the slow cooker. Let it simmer in there, rip it up, smother it in some BBQ (I used a root beer BBQ with a mix of garlic honey), a little hot sauce, and throw it back in the slow cooker. It was incredibly juicy and tender.

Thats how I make shredded chicken tacos, minus the BBQ sauce obviously. Still cant seem to make fresh flour tortillas though. I can make corn tortillas, but the flour ones just never seem to turn out right.

Slow cookers are quite handy. Few weeks back I peeled a few apples & pears, added some brown sugar\cinnamon\butter\walnuts and let it all simmer for a couple of hours. Threw it over some vanilla ice cream & it was fantastic.

That sounded good till you got to the walnut part

There are 3 movies in the theater I wanted to see this weekend, one I've already seen but want to see again (DOFP), the other has gotten very low scores on Rotten Tomatoes, which is now making me hesitant (Million Ways To Die...), & the third I a smaller movie that will likely not be in theaters for very long but I've heard nothing but really really good things about (Chef). Leaning toward Chef right now.

I heard the new Seth Macfarlane movie is a comedy in trailer form only. People keep saying it takes itself way more seriously than expected.

It got a 54% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes (which is the only score I care about with comedies), from what I hear it's too long, & the best bits are in the trailer. I sounds like MacFarlane did what he typically does, he has a hit with something so the next time around he just pushes shit farther than he should & it ends up being a giant pile of shit.

Apparently there is a gag in the movie where a character is running around violently shitting in cowboy hats for a full two min. while nothing else is happening.

A Million Ways To Die In The West looked beyond awful. If the parts in the trailer are the "funny" bits, I shudder to think what the rest of the movie is like.

If you want to see a pretty good comedy, Neighbors was enjoyable.

Saw Neighbors, loved it, funniest Seth Rogan movie since Pineapple Express.

I don't know why Seth MacFarland thought it would be a good idea to do a Western parody when Blazing Saddles already locked that movie the fuck down. Blazing Saddles is one of the best comedies of all time, why would you try to top that?

I plan on seeing neighbors in theaters, possibly next week. I'm seeing Malifecent with my girlfriend on Monday too, so next week might be a big movie week for me.

Tell me how Maleficent goes. My girlfriend has been wanting to see that with me but I keep putting it off.

Also, good call on Neighbors. It's the legit best comedy of 2014 so far. Granted there hasn't been many comedy movies in 2014. 22 Jump Street might exceed it though, we'll see.

Hopefully 22 Jump Street doesn't feel like a rehashing of the same tricks. Though I'm still looking forward to that a lot.

I'm of two minds about 22 Jump Street. One one hand, the first one was so charming and Hill and Tatum had such a great dynamic that I can't imagine all the disappearing across one film. On the other hand, they might think that they can get away with just utilizing that and not trying to step too far out of their wheelhouse.

I don't think it will be a bad movie, but I also don't think it will be anywhere near as funny as the first.

Yeah, their chemistry was way better than I expected & Tatum is funnier than people give him credit for. Speaking of un-spoken talent..

I watched 'The Place Beyond the Pines' yesterday. Anyone else seen that? Yeah its a few years late, but it was a surprisingly good flick. Gosling deserves more credit as an actor. Between Drive, Lars\Real Girl, etc. he has done well, but most people just remember 'That guy from The Notebook.'

Only God Forgives was also worth a watch. It has a eerily tense setting that peels back layers as time progresses. I went in knowing nothing about it (that is rare nowadays) & I enjoyed the film more than what the reviews said. The real star was the cinematography. Without those choices, the movie would not stand out & it really helped solidify the atmosphere of the movie.

True. It really was great. First glances, you never would have expected something that awesome to be in this flick.

You should get on Half Nelson if you haven't seen it already. Or even if you have, it deserves another watch. That was my first Gosling film and I was actually quite sad when I found out he was in such a shit film as The Notebook afterwards, as I'd also seen him in The Believer where he, as you Americans like to say, "knocked it out of the park." To put it another way, he cunt-punted that role.

Unrelated to Gosling, I'm watching Hard Boiled again and wish that John Woo had stuck with his ridiculous action movies for a lot longer as its such a cheesy but incredibly OTT violent film.

Half Nelson was good but I have not seen The Believer. Ill add that to the list.

Currently trying to finish Supernatural, The Trip to Italy, Mid Morning Matters (on a bit of a Coogan spell at the moment) & Snuff Box. Today I am going to check out Oculus just for the hell of it & then District B13 (because I am late to the party on that one).

I did a doppelganger double feature Thursday. Enemy & The Double. I wasnt too fond of Enemy, probably because I realized the big twist & meaning of the spider early on. If you dont get those two things by the end, the movie makes no damn sense. The Double was better than Enemy, but nothing terribly special. Eisenberg was descent enough in the dual role & Ayoade at the helm set the tone of the film quite well. A few changes made from the book to screenplay, but I think the choice to use a dystopian setting worked nicely here.

Because he's Seth fuckin' MacFarlane & he can do anything he damn well pleases?

This GF, she a new addition, or have I just been out of the loop?

Pretty much my thoughts. Jonah Hill spent 7 yrs. working on the first one before finally getting it perfect.

I decided to see DOFP again, mainly because it started earlier than Chef, & I had already finished buying my shit at the used DVD store, & my LCS. Lots of cool little easter eggs that I had missed in the first viewing, my favorite of which was the Chris Clairmont cameo in the congress scene. I kinda wish that we could have seen a kid with pink hair walking through the halls of the school at the end, a Quintin Quire cameo wouldn't have killed them would it? Really looking forward to X-Men: Apocalypse & the X-Force movie that are both slated for a 2016 release, I'm assuming the stories in both are going to be somewhat closely connected.

That's true. He may be the king of comedy right now.

Dammit Justin, stop making my comments for me!

She is a very recent, but very positive addition. She's a nurse at the hospital that I work at. She's very pretty, very nice, very funny, and possibly best of all: she loves super heroes and comics. Before we started dating I gave her a hardcover containing a bunch of Spider-Man comics, so I assume that's when she knew I was good boyfriend material.

We've been dating for about a week, but things have been progressing pretty quickly. We really like each other, and we both have a lot of confidence in this relationship.

What other easter eggs were there? I didn't know Chris Clairmont was in the congress scene, so I'm interested to know about the others. A Quintin Quire cameo would have been cool, but he wouldn't have been born yet in the 70s. He probably wasn't born until the late 80s/early 90s.

There's an X-Force movie coming out? YESSSSSS. I wonder what team they'll use. I can only assume Warpath will be returning, and obviously they won't miss an opportunity to shove Wolverine down our throat, but who else? Cable seems like an obvious choice, Domino or Psylocke could play the role of sex appeal nicely, and then maybe throw in Deadpool for some comic relief.

I would think Marvel would possibly go with an earlier incarnation of sorts rather than the latest versions. Maybe something with The Brotherhood or MLF could work as a one-off movie. Although I would bet on something to do with X-Cutioner's Song with a few tweaks. It would make sense considering they already have established certain X-Men involved, Apocalypse is tied in & we have a great way to introduce Mr. Sinister.
