So this is pretty fucking awesome...

Next Cap movie is in 2016 I beleive, currently it's set to open the same weekend as Batman/Superman, I'll be amazed if that doesn't change though.

The countdown is on then. I expect that to change too, though seeing a Marvel movie come out the same weekend as a DC movie would be pretty fun.

Am I remembering wrong in thinking Avengers 2 comes out this summer?

Oh. My. God. That's the best thing I've ever seen.

Savage is a totally ridiculous choice for Cyclops, though. John Cena is the better pick: you either love him or hate him, he sticks to his guns no matter what, and he's a natural leader. I see Savage as being a Deadpool type of character, maybe Iceman if we're sticking to X-Men only.

I figured I would bump your thread for like the first time in a fucking WEEK to announce I'm drunk but that you're good people man and I enjoy talking wrestling with you. I forgot to respond to your Facebook message but real talk, man, tell me about this Civilization victory.

That was adorable. I like you too.

I always like to hear about Civilisation...

The reason I didn't bring it up here is because I'm a pretty poor Civilization player. I'm at the point where level 3 is too easy, but level 4 is often too difficult. I've probably started half a dozen games at level 4 and had to quit after about two hours of play because I get trapped by other civs stealing all the land around my boarders and I have no army to repel them, or because someone decides to declare war on me and, like previously mentioned, I have no army to repel them.

That said, I had my first legit win on level four the other day (I had won once before, but it was by score) and I was super excited about that. I was playing as the Koreans, so naturally I went after the science victory. I achieved it in about 2017, so it did take me a while, but thanks to some wise decisions with my policy adopting and crafting my religion, I was able to pull it together pretty quickly towards the end. That proved to be important, because after I completed about 25% of my spaceship, people started denouncing me left and right, including some civs that had been my allies throughout the game. I knew that, while I could arguably fend off a few attacks, I'd be screwed if one of the more militaristic civs (like my neighbors to the North, Germany) launched an offensive on me. That's why I let diplomacy prevent all out war.

I entered one war with a civ on the opposite continent in order to appease one of my few remaining allies, and my only involvement was hampering his naval efforts with my own navy, which was really my only military strong point. I appeased Germany by selecting a resolution to repeal the embargo levied against them, and I appealed to the Danes by using all my delegates to vote for a resolution they selected. With those two guys kept at bay I was able to finish my spaceship and win the game.

I'm currently attempting to win with a cultural victory using the French. It's going okay. I find having a militaristic city-state ally makes a huge difference because they'll supply you with enough troops to repel any attacks and you can use your production time to build buildings and wonders and what not.

This makes me want to play Alpha Centauri again...

I think Level 3 is the highest I go to on SMACX for above that, you cannot make any mistakes.

I make it harder by randomising my choice of state and do not pick long term goals for victory. I find that if you let it develop more organically, you can get more of a campaign narrative going.

I'm tempted to go back to level 3 to attempt a domination victory since I've only ever accomplished that once, and there's no way in hell that I'm pulling that off on level 4.

I find that level 4 isn't too unforgiving in Civ V, but you certainly can't afford to make any early mistakes. If you're building one of the earlier wonders like the Great Library or Stonehenge and you get beat to the punch by another civ, you're going to be in trouble.

JGlass, you may want to hit up your LCS next Weds....

As much as I love Cyclops, I'm not sure I'll be picking up this one. It's going to be focused on past Cyclops, and I'm much more concerned with what present-Cyclops is doing as opposed to what past Cyclops is doing galavanting about space with his dad.

I've already got my dose of Cyclops with both Uncanny X-Men and All New X-Men. I don't really care about what past Cyclops is up to; he doesn't quite have the edge the older version does.

It's written by Greg Rucka though!! He's one of the best writers in comics these days, his Punisher run was amazing, & Lazarus might be one of the freshest & most satisfying comics I've read in a long time, which if you enjoy comics about dystopian near-future sci-fi, you should check out (the first trade is out & is only $10, the second tpb will be out June 11th). I'll check this out solely for Rucka, the fact that it's Young Scott only makes it more intriguing for me, I'm not fond of current day Scott, he's a dick.

Lets not forget Greg Rucka also indirectly diagnosed Lance Storm's back problems. Heck of a guy!

Spoiler for conserving space rather than ruining stories:
This past weekend I finally got to meet Greg Rucka. I first got to know Mr. Rucka through my website when I ran Book Marks, my online Book Club. We read "Fistful of Rain" for Book Marks, and I've become a huge fan of his work. In addition to great novels Mr. Rucka is likely better known for his work in comics and graphic novels, and it was because of his work in this field that I got to meet him this weekend. Mr. Rucka was in town for the Calgary Expo, which is a giant Comic-Con and Entertainment Expo, and we hooked up for breakfast Saturday morning before the event. If you haven't checked out his work I strongly recommend it. If being a great author and a good guy wasn't enough, Greg Rucka can also be credited with properly diagnosing my lower back problems, which contributed to my early retirement. In late 2003 early 2004 my lower back was really starting to bother me, and I was even getting weakness in my right leg after taking certain bumps. WWE sent me to a bunch of different doctors none of which produced a solution to my problems. With these problems persisting and my lack of direction creatively, I made the decision to get off the road and the roster and took to position as the trainer of the WWE’s developmental program. It was during my time in OVW that I read Greg Rucka's book Critical Space, and in the book lead character Atticus Kodiak starts having back trouble that sounded exactly like the issues I was having. Atticus was diagnosed with Iliopsoas in the book, so I looked into this condition online, printed out material on it and took it to my doctor. We decided this could very well be my problem so I got the same massage treatment Atticus did and pretty much fixed my lower back issues.

Eh, he's kind of a dick, but he's more of a badass. I find it kind of amusing that Cyclops has turned into this living-off-the-grid, black-ops bad ass type while Wolverine is getting lamer and lamer. Maybe that's why they're killing him off.

After seeing that there really aren't any other books I'm going to buy next week, I'll probably just go ahead and pick this one up. Who knows, maybe Young Cyke will make his way back to Earth and do some cool stuff, like finally hooking up with X-23.

I'll check out Lazarus. $10 for a TPB sounds great.

That's hilarious. The healing power of comic books!

Speaking of comics, the donation I solicited from my LCS got to the hospital yesterday, and they came through big time. Four huge G.I. Joe hardcovers, a bunch of Marvel character picture books for the children's unit, Adventure Time graphic novels for the adolescents, a hardcover of the first several X-Men books, some Superman books, and a bunch of graphic novels I've never heard of but look pretty good. I hope they're put to good use at the hospital.

To be fair I've not read much of current Cyclops stuff, since Schism actually. I also really don't like what they've done with Wolvie either. The only X-title I'm currently reading is Nightcrawler, but I look forward to checking out this Cyclops book.

I'll check out Lazarus. $10 for a TPB sounds great.

Tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day, I don't know what kind of special deal your LCS has, but I know mine does 50% off all TPBs & Graphic Novels, you might be able to get it for even cheaper!
