Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

There have been countless fantastic gritty crime dramas on cable over the last fifteen years. As far as I'm concerned, SOA is nothing more than a successful bastard-child of the good ones. The stuff with great characters, great performances, and captivating, unforgettable material.

As with Justified, I loved the cameos in the early episodes/series' with actors from connected shows (SOA - Shield, Justified - Deadwood) but from what I've seen of both shows, Justified seems more comfortable with its identity. If SOA hadn't bothered with that IRA story (uncomfortable) and including the one niners then I'd change my mind.

Jay Karnes' cameo in SOA as the creepy stalker is something I could imagine happening to Dutch in The Shield-iverse though.

So after a night of fun I of course end up in a bar fight. Well, I sure didnt help matters when I cracked the guy with an elbow, but hey he deserved it.

First one amazingly that I have been in. Nothing like the APA has led me to believe all these years. Most drunk people just flail their arms about and shove. I really wanted to bust a pool cue or smash a bottle, but after the first few shots things just ended up being seperated by the bouncers.

The best thing that happened out of all that was fucking hilarious though. One of the guys kept struggling as he was removed & someone kicked the guy in the face. The bouncer bent down to pick the guy up and said "Ha. Road House" as he laughed & drug the guy out the door. That was classic.

So it didn't look anything like this?

Yea, not so much. Although there was a guy that did look like the Marlboro Man. He just drank Johnnie Walker Black the whole night and didnt move when the fight started. Pretty sure he would have killed us all if he was inclined.

I haven't been keeping up with the arms race, but I think SOA might have had more Deadwood actors than Justified by this point.

Fuck it, I'm going to count...

Justified:
-Tim Olyphant
-Jim Beaver
-Gerald McRaney
-Stephen Tobolowsky
-Brent Sexton
-Pruitt Taylor Vince
-Ray McKinnon
-Peter Jason
-Sean Bridgers

vs

Sons of Anarchy:
-Dayton Callie
-Titus Welliver
-Paula Malcomson
-Kim Dickens
-Robin Weigert
-Ray McKinnon
-Cleo King
-Keone Young

Google tells me I've forgotten about Pasco and Shaughnessy appearing on SOA, as well as someone who played a Deadwood character named Terrance. SOA also seems to have cast a couple small-time actors who played a prospector and a townsman, respectively, on Deadwood.

Do we call that a win for SOA? Or does the arms race keep going until one show lands Ian McShane?

I'm disappointed you haven't already.

It's in the upper-echelon of anything I've ever seen on television. And I think it's been firmly established that I watch far too much television.

Dude. Jere Burns is a full-time cast member this season.

You know what that means: More of Wynn Duffy reacting to surprising things!

This Tuesday!!!

And yes JGlass you should probably watch Deadwood ASAP

Tuesday already?! I should probably watch the finale over again to refresh on some things though I believe I know the basic gist. Wonder if they'll go for a more villain of the season route or a mystery angle such as last year.

Hmm, I'd prefer McShane to be the difference maker if at all possible. I would be overjoyed if he turned up as the ghost of Swearengen in Justified just to hear him yell "Bullock" to distract Raylan while he's in a fist-fight. While seeing the numbers does surprise me a little, Olyphant in, for all intents and purposes, a western show where he is a quick shooter will always make me give Justified the stronger link.

And yes JGlass, get it watched...

Only one of the teams I was rooting for wound up winning in the wild card round. At this rate the Patriots are going to win the Superbowl, and if that happens I might have to kill myself.

I'd be surprised if the Patriots even make the Superbowl, never mind winning it. They have so many injuries and Brady has had a few shitty games this year.

Indy has a real shot at beating them and if they don't, they probably still have to make a trip to Denver.

I agree. What I was getting at is that three of the teams I was rooting against won their games this weekend, and if that trend continues then the Pats will be in good shape considering they're really the only team I don't want to see in the Superbowl.

I don't really want to see the Chargers in the Superbowl either, but I don't think we have to worry about them beating Denver.

I feel like the Pats will win it this year. They've won most of their gamrs by the skin of their teeth and have won games they had nobusiness winning. All three Super Bowl seasons thats how they won.

I can seethe Colts beating them but Brady is usually Manning's kryptonite so if they get past the Colts I see them making it to the Super Bowl.

No one really appeals to me in the AFC. I like Peyton Manning, so if I had to pick an AFC rep it would be Denver.

The NFC however I would be more than alright with any of the remaining options. Panthers, Saints, Seahawks, Niners in that order. I'm pulling for the winner to come from the NFC.

They should just have all the teams play at one time. Iron Man rules. Most points in 60 minutes wins.

Now that would be a fucking game to see.

Have you read the rumors of Jeff Jarrett starting a new promotion?

I know I should never believe anything on the dirt sheets, but damn this could be cool. If all the rumors hold true, it'd have Toby Keith's backing which would probably get it onto TV somewhere, and possibly JR announcing/booking. If they could get AJ Styles it could be a serious coup and potentially end TNA.

If they can get Toby Keith's money, JR's knowledge, and AJ Styles' wrestling ability, they'd have a few key pieces that would be a nice foundation for a company. That said, I'm not convinced Jarrett has what it takes to run a promotion, and even less convinced that they could muscle their way into an already competitive market for a form of entertainment that is losing popularity.
