If ever proof was needed that some people don't deserve a vote...

This reminds me of a line in a NOFX song I like. It goes, "Political scientists get the same one vote as some monkey-taught in-bred."

Not that I think Dagger is a monkey-taught in-bred. I don't think that little of him, though a vote for Thor 2 for movie of the year definitely didn't raise his stakes.

On an unrelated note, Gabriel Byrne's voice is how a man should sound. He talks so rarely in most episodes of In Treatment, but when he does it is a real auditory treat.

Reviews are hardly everything but Metacritic gives it a 58 which doesn't sound like a film of the year. But then again, you know, Dagger.

It was a perfectly enjoyable film. If you didn't see it in the theater, it might not be worth watching, but I found it enjoyable enough to watch.

I've enjoyed everything I've seen of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so I will like it when I get to it I'm sure. I am not big on going to theaters (no real reason, I just usually only do it for dates or a group of friends) so I often miss out on a lot of films and just catch them later on Netflix or when the mood strikes me. I watched Captain America the other day and then watched Iron Man, so I'm just going to go through and watch them in order now (I still haven't seen the Avengers...I know).

It's also partially motivated by me having given my girlfriend some flak lately for having seen like no movies ever but she has seen the Avengers, so I feel like I have to catch up so I can appropriately criticize her for not having seen Star Wars.

I saw Thor 2 early and for free so I'm not disappointed by it, but Thor will never be my favorite of the bunch in the slightest.

Guardians of the Galaxy is where it's gonna be at soon enough, think I'm looking forward more to that then Cap 2. Shame ASM2 is coming out on my birthday instead of that.

I thoroughly enjoyed Captain America but a lot of it was in the sort of steampunky WWII imagery so I'm not sure how much Winter Soldier will work for me, but I'm hopeful.

Rumor has it Marvel is working on a Peggy Carter show which if Agents of Shield is any indication will probably suck. But I'm sure it'll have plenty of WWll stuff so you might wanna give it a shot.

That does sound pretty interesting. I'll keep an eye out.

Is Agents of Shield bad? I was going to watch it once I finished catching up on the films.

I know this is shocking and horrifying news, but I think most girls around our age haven't seen the Star Wars movies, and if they have, they're just as likely to have seen the new trilogy as the original. Don't judge them for it, it's probably the patriarchy's fault just as much as it is theirs.

The original Iron Man probably remains my favorite Marvel film that isn't The Avengers, and while Iron Man 2 is definitely a step down from the original, it's still quite enjoyable, and the third installment is somewhere in between. Captain America was good, but easily the corniest of Marvel's work. Thor was very enjoyable, and I thought Thor 2 might have even been an improvement on the original. The Incredible Hulk... you don't need to watch The Incredible Hulk. It's not that it's bad, it's just forgettable.

The entiring thing banks off the success of The Avengers and has really bad writing and a lack of imagination for a show about super powers. It's probably because it's ABC.

I'm not really judging her, I just like to kid her about it. More than anything I'm excited to watch it with her.

I already watched Hulk and Iron Man 2. Hulk was indeed very forgettable. Paint by numbers superhero movie, no standout performance...yeah. Iron Man 2 was okay but it was kind of obvious they were just setting up for something whereas Iron Man felt like it could stand on its own feet.

I liked Thor 2, so much so that I saw it twice, & I put it in my top 5 favorite movies that I saw in theaters in 2013, but TWOW & Gravity were easily my one & two.

Despite having heard nothing but good things about it I still haven't been able to make myself watch Gravity. Clooney is a pretty shitty actor and I hate Saundra Bullock with a passion. I got some Asian pirated copy for Christmas but the likely low film quality may be enough to make me think it is shit no matter how good it is.

Right?!

Between him and Pierce Brosnan, I think it's clear that classy, dapper Irishmen are my type.

You should watch Miller's Crossing. More Byrne than you can shake a stick at. And occasionally saying clever things.

It's the worst show I stay up to date with. By far. And I still stay up to date with Sons of Anarchy...

Noted.

Give me Brosnan's accent with Paul's volume and tone, and you have yourself the smoothest talker in the universe.

I tried watching Sons of Anarchy and got a few episodes in to season 2. I get that they want to push the morally ambiguous angle, but when Charlie Hunnam is the guy you have representing the side of good, you might have trouble keeping a large portion of your audience.

You're going to have to explain your sig to me. Did you just edit NorCal and I out because you didn't want to group us in with the rest of NJX, or are you comparing me to RVD and NorCal to Kelly Kelly? If it's the latter, I'd start running. Maybe change your name.

Considering the audience has grown from an average of 2.2 million viewers from the first season to an average of 7.3 mil. viewers this past season, & expected to grow through it's next & finale season, I'd say they're not too worried about a good portion of the audience leaving anytime soon.

That's a fair point, but I'm guessing that if they had a higher quality actor playing Jacks, they'd have an even sizable audience.

Yeah, it is, I'm not denying that. Alls I'm saying is that Charlie Hunnam is a turrible, turrible actor.

He's certainly not great, I can't argue with that, but I think he has improved at least slightly over his 6 yrs. on the show. That does not excuse his poor acting in Pac Rim though, thank god for the giant robots & monsters...

Yeah, I had no idea who he was when I went to see Pacific Rim, and needless to say I was thoroughly underwhelmed by his performance. I wonder if he's a better actor when he's not masking his British accent.
