1) Using TV show legal logic, Jesse cooperating likely absolves him of all his wrongdoings in the eyes of the government. So even if Marie told the DEA about Jesse's involvement with Hank/Gomez, I expect their real concern is Walt. Jesse gets a happy ending where he can move to Alaska and make wooden boxes or work at the Cinnabun Saul is managing in Omaha.
2)The White knights have done a fine job of ignoring observable reality up to this point. Why should anything change that?

Billy Crudup was a fairly decent Dr Manhattan I thought. Matthew Goode did quite well at capturing the subtle nuances of Veidts German heritage and possible homosexuality too.
Unrelated to Watchmen, anyone else ever seen Nathan Barley? One off comedy written by Chris Morris and Charlie Brooker, in case that piques any interest.
It came up at some point in (I believe) season three when Jesse was doing the group counselling thing with Jere Burns. I wouldn't blame anyone for forgetting it.
I keep ending sentences with "...,yeh?" now and feel filthy for doing so. It was nuts seeing Benedict Cumberbatch and Ben Whishaw in it too. The episode where Nathan thinks he's had a blowjob from a 13 year old is just so near the knuckle but hilarious too. The bit where he's bragging on his mobile on the bus to his pal and he goes, "Younger... younger... Illegal!" had me laughing so much more than it should have.
I too am satisfied, and it fills me with joy that Breaking Bad managed to go five full seasons without making any egregious, fan base alienating mistakes. It also makes me happy that the Dexter is better than BB crowd had to sit through what was apparently a crap series finale, and we got an episode that, while not one of the series' best, was still thrilling television.
There are very few TV dramas that I have watched from beginning to end, and truth be told, this might be the first, but what really impressed me with Breaking Bad's finale is that they managed to both wrap up all the loose ends while also making it feel like another thrilling moment in the story of Walter White and friends. If I may get metaphorical, it seems like most TV shows step on the brakes and slowly pull in to their final destination. Breaking Bad floored it and pulled the e-brake, sliding perfectly in between two parked cars in breathtaking fashion.
I do have two concerns regarding the finale, though.
1) Jesse's escape was relieving for sure, and it was nice to see him smiling and laughing as he drove off. That said, surely his problems are not over. He's still connected to Heisenberg and was very recently brought in with the police. I'm not sure anybody besides Marie and perhaps Skyler knows Jesse was working with Hank and Gomez, but if anyone does know, then that must make him a person of interest for the DEA. This is a guy who has absolutely nowhere to go, and no money to start over with. I'm happy Jesse got his freedom, but what's next for the poor guy?
2) Are people going to finally come around to the fact that Walter White is a terrible, terrible person? The White knights (word play!) would have you believe that Walt did everything for his family and thus made him the hero and Skyler was a bitch for getting upset with him and getting in his way, but he finally admitted what I think many of us knew all along: he did it for himself. He could have quit earlier, he could have found another way, but he was good at it, and he liked doing it. It's a very simple emotion that drove Walt to become the biggest Meth Kingpin in the Southwest, but it still caused him to do some extraordinarily evil things and wound up destroying his family.
How can you talk about the White knights directly after saying that you are glad Jesse got away? You do realize that he is a meth distributing murderer too, right?

Would you be OK with a murderer being released from prison after less than a year? Even if he got his ass kicked and was stuck in solitary? If not than his punishment was not time served.
Plus he got ice cream so he never really had it bad at all.

If he was in solitary for a full year? Yeah, probably. Solitary confinement is widely considered to be cruel and unusual punishment, and I'm of that school of thought as well.
As a side note, I've been struggling with the concept of justice a lot over the past few months for no real reason other than the fact that it's a very strange concept that is almost impossible to define.
As for the point about ice cream, neither of his options were Cherry Garcia, so he might as well not have had ice cream at all.

Not a full year, Jesse wasn't stuck in there that long and he got time out to work, which you don't get in solitary. For murdering someone as gentle as Gale, he deserved far worse. He got off with less than an overly grumpy tax evader.
Most prisoners would settle for far worse treats than peanut butter cup.

He got beaten, forced to cook meth against his will, held hostage in a cold, dark cage where he spent all his time when he wasn't cooking meth.
As for the murder of Gale, I think Walt is more to blame for that one than Jesse. There is plenty of legal precedent in real life where the person who ordered the killing receives a harsher sentence than the person who actually pulled the trigger.
We are also privy to the fact that Jesse is a shell of a human being. He's broken emotionally, and at this point physically as well. He has no friends (unless you consider Gopher and Skinny Pete to be his friends, which I certainly don't), he is estranged from his family, and everyone he's ever loved is dead except for Brock, whom Jesse is in no position to make contact with. Jesse has no reason to live except for the sake of living and perhaps trying to make amends for his actions in the past.
If we didn't know this information than it would be tempting to agree with you that Jesse should be put in jail, but this is a man that has been paying for his crimes every day since they've been committed, and that is a fact. There is no objectivity when it comes to justice, and for my money Jesse has suffered enough in penance for his crimes.

I'd like to chip in on the Breaking Bad/Jesse discussion.
Jesse killed Gale to save Walter's life. And let's face it, Gale created Meth to sell to the masses. Just because he was a sweet person on the outside, that doesn't change the fact that he was "in the game." And the reason why it's okay to like Omar from The Wire, is because he never harmed civilians, only those "in the game."
That said, it doesn't make what Jesse did right. However, it does make it okay to understand and forgive his actions, especially since afterward you could tell he felt real remorse over it and that it was killing him that he did such a thing, something Walt never showed.
Regardless of all that, the brilliant thing about Jesse's ending is that it's the one thing that's left up to the viewer to decide. If you love Jesse, you can assume he rode off into the sunset and lived happily ever after. If you hated Jesse or thought he got off too easy, you can assume he was picked up by the police not long after the show was over. Whatever you decide is the right choice, and I think that's the way it should have been with THAT character.
Anyways, I've yet to give my opinion on the Breaking Bad finale here but obviously I loved it. Top 3 of all time. My only regret, and it's AMC's fault, is that I wish we could have gotten 2 more episodes before the finale, showing Walt in isolation, Skylar and Flynn adjusting to a new life, Marie's mourning, and most of all, seeing Todd continue to try and court Lydia. Fuck AMC for this 8 episode a season bullshit. I'm pissed they're doing it with Mad Men, too.

I was actually saving the Gale argument for if SNS continued to go down that road. If being a meth distributor counts against Jesse, then surely cooking it counts against Gale.
I agree that Jesse's ending was some sort of brilliant. I tried to discuss the possibilities for Jesse after his death, and none of us could agree on what happened to him.
AMC gets a lot of credit for really giving Vince Gilligan and his crew full reign with Breaking Bad, the result of which wound up being one man's vision being completed from beginning to end in beautiful fashion. However, they sort of stepped in the way of his vision when they split this season up into two halves, and all for a couple of stupid Emmys, as if that's going to help their ratings. I'm not sure we needed any more of Walt wallowing in the wilderness by himself, but I would have liked a bit more drama in Walt's escape from New Mexico as well as more slave-Jesse and Todd's creepy crush on Lydia.
I thought that it was more obvious that the Gale part was in jest, of course having the grace of a gazelle does not excuse the whole Meth thing, but he wasn't a murderer so he is a step above Jesse.
Walt being more responsible for Gale's murder is laughable. Was he responsible too? Yes. But that doesn't take any away from Jesse. Jesse decided to take Gales life, he could have tried to run and stay in hiding like he was, but he didn't. And does doing it to save the very man that we are calling the worst make it better?
Let's also not forget that Jesse wasn't doing anything about Todd murdering that kid until he found out Walt poisoned one that he liked better, and he still waited until he was picked up by the cops and confronted by Hank. Jesse wasn't the worst person in the show, but he doesn't deserve to be free.

Yeah, I wouldn't call Gale a bad person at all actually. Ideologically he saw nothing wrong with consuming meth (he mentioned being a libertarian by nature), so while he knew he was committing a crime by cooking meth, his motivations were pretty pure.
I think you're underestimating the power that Walt has over Jesse. Jesse himself said that Walter White is the devil, and I think he actually believes that. He doesn't see Walt as his employer or his mentor or his father-figure: he sees Walt as the embodiment of evil that influences every aspect of his life.
I don't think Good Samaritan laws are real in anything except Seinfeld.
Rush wasn't as terrible an experience as Sam led me to believe it would be, but I pretty much agree with his assessment.
Don Jon was on a similar level. I probably thought a little more of it as I enjoyed the subject matter more than Formula One. Needed more Tony Danza.
All in all, I'm feeling a little empty. A lot like that moment after you're done with your porn and your tissues. Maybe that's what JGL was going for. I suspect not, but maybe.
I started watching Sons of Anarchy today. I'm three episodes in and I'm enjoying it, but right now the acting leaves a little to be desired. The guy playing the lead is pretty shit, and everyone not named Katey Sagal leaves a lot to be desired. At least it's fun seeing Ron Pearlman be Ron Pearlman.

I'm planning on pulling a Rush/Don Jon double header this weekend, so hopefully I find at least one of these movies a little more enjoyable than you did. As excited as I am for those two films, though, I'm even more excited for Gravity. It looks like it's either going to be incredibly gripping or unbearably boring. I'm optimistic it will be the former.
You really don't leave me much of a choice, now do you? I really have no interest in buying this game until there's a significant price drop. I haven't even been keeping up with what's supposed to make this game any different than 13.
Prisoners is another movie I'm very excited to see. Your girlfriend's friends' play is not. But hey, maybe you'll get lucky and the play will be different. Any idea what it is?
