Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

I heard good things about Anna Karenina. Not good enough for it to make my list of 1,000 films I watch annually, but good things nonetheless.

I saw Fruitvale Station tonight. I give it a thumbs up, even if the entire point of the film is to make you feel awful on the insides.

Any good? It's sitting on my computer right now, along with A Dangerous Method and Ghostbusters. Exciting weekend lined up, clearly.

Don't know, I decided to watch American Ninja Warrior instead. Not because I wanted to watch American Ninja Warrior, mind you, but because I was trying to read WZCW RPs and knew that American Ninja Warrior would not distract me.

I suppose I could have turned the TV, off but that would just be madness: using one screen at a time like a barbarian.

WZSL draft this Sunday, followed by another draft later that night. Now if only Megatron would get off his ass & schedule a damn draft for the other WZ league...

I remember the Godfather being discussed in here recently and I do remember somebody saying it was boring, but it was not me. I want to pass the blame to Blue Chipper, but I'm not sure it was him either.

Not me; I'm not going to ruin my movie credibility. I said that the hater brigade does exist, but I feel like there is enough substance in The Godfather to entertain the dumbbells with the smallest of attention spans. No action? Yes, there is action. Overly long? No filler here; every scene is justified for being in the movie. Unintelligible dialogue? The option to turn on captions does exist. The only thing I hear is a litany of reasons that mask their sensory, mental inability to pay full attention to audiovisual stimuli.

During my viewing I admit to remembering Peter's disclosure, though:

I LOVE gangster films. I don't know, I don't consider City Of God a "gangster" film. I do consider it one of the greatest movies I have ever watched, though. Epic movie.

I always try and get people to watch that and Slumdog Millionaire. Two movies that don't get the credit they deserve.

Along with Bronx Tale and Brooklyn Rules.

Are you being serious right now?

Regarding what; credit?

Yes, Internet feens who have been on message boards and IMDB and have made it a mission (like myself) to watch every great movie will praise them. However, when I am talking to friends who really only watch movies in theater, they haven't seen either. Especially City Of God. I feel people need to watch those two movies because it contains some fucked up, life changing moments that are awesome.

KIDS was another movie that fucked my mind up. I didn't have sex for weeks.

Didn't Slumdog Millionaire win the Oscar for best picture? And didn't City of God win the Oscar for best foreign film?

And I did not enjoy kids.

Yeah, but lets be honest.... how many people watch foreign films? Not many.

My point was people need to watch those films. KIDS was great, but maybe I'm biased because I'm from New York.

People who have respectable opinions about film do, and City of God and Slumdog Millionaire sort of transcend the foreign label anyway. Isn't the vast majority of Slumdog Millionaire in English anyway?

Tries too hard to be striking. Has all the subtlety of a jackhammer.

The book is about three times as long as the film. They did a pretty good job with the editing if you consider that. Also, they did cut off a few subplots here and there which was important or else there would have been no Godfather III.

No, not like that all. Why would you even say that? It's like you're trying to upset me.

IDK, probably a kicker or something important like that

I think in my very first fantasy football draft I took a kicker in round 5 or something because I had heard on the radio the day before that kickers had lead the league in scoring for the past few years, and I had no idea how fantasy football worked.

I saw Kevin Brown do a show Friday and it was hilarious. He plays Dot Com on 30 Rock. He tore a few people up and made some Tracy Morgan and Alec Baldwin jokes. It was hell getting there due to some good old traffic, but worth it for $10.

Flip-side to the fun evening was that I shattered the screen on my phone. Due to the fact that a guy ran into us while we were parked. So he is a dumbass. My friend promptly smacked the drunk guy with the closest thing he could grab. It was a bean burrito and if you dont know- it is fucking funny as hell to see.

Yeah, he was hilarious as Dot Com, I could imagine him doing a good show.

That's hilarious. Though you probably could have gotten some money out of his insurance if your friend hadn't attacked him with a deadly weapon.
