Are you into horror movies, Jglass? I ask because I hardly (if ever) see you mention them.

Also, any plans to watch Terrence Malick's new movie?

Not particularly, but I'm not opposed to them either. I took a class this semester where we watched pretty much the entirety of David Cronenberg's work, and his early stuff was from the horror genre and I like that. Other than that I can't really think of too many horror movies that have made an impression on me.

As for Terrence Malick's new movie, it depends on what the trailers look like. The only thing going for it right now is the cast, which as absolutely stacked. I'm not overly enamored with Malick's stuff, but I can respect it all the same. Definitely the type of film that I need to see with another cinephile so I have someone to talk to and figure the movie out.

Glad you brought movies up, because yesterday I hit up Newbury Comics and bought myself a small pile of DVDs: District 9, I Heart Huckabees, Inception, and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Only one of those movies that I've never seen is Huckabees, but I'm a big fan of David O. Russel's other movies, so I don't see why I won't enjoy this.

You should pop in here more often, Mitch. Now that I'm about to graduate I'm going to need more people to have intelligent discussions about film with.

Just beat Tomb Raider. It seemed like a mixture of Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed, but not as good as either game. That said, the game was pretty freaking fun, but I'm probably going to sell it back in the near future. Unlike the AC games or FC3, I don't feel the need to keep this in my collection.

Shivers is the one Croneberg film I can't get into, like at all. I saw it for the first time by catching it one night on IFC a few years ago, and I struggled to get through it. Don't know if you heard about it, but Croneberg's son recently premiered his debut film Antiviral at Cannes last year. Freaky trailer, and I plan on watching it soon enough.

Other than that I can't really think of too many horror movies that have made an impression on me.

85% of mainstream Hollywood horror is utter garbage, and finding or waiting on the independent/European stuff is a pain in the ass. Off the top of my head, the second Carrie remake and Insidious 2 are the only two big unreleased mainstream horror films left this year, and the trailer for Carrie 2013 is one the worst trailers I've seen this year.

The trailers for To The Wonder are okay. Breathtaking scenery, and a lot of "what's the meaning of life?" stares from the main cast, but nothing grabs my attention, or gives me the urge to go out and see the movie. I didn't like Tree Of Life on the first viewing, but it grew on me the second time.

And yeah, love him or hate him, I can't fight the urges to discuss and dissect a Malick film after I've seen it. I can still remember me and one of my co-workers at my old job spending an entire work day talking about The New World's unfocused narrative after we watched it in theaters.

I still love District 9. It's one of the few movies I can watch over and over again without getting tired of it. The director for District 9 (forget his name) is the main reason why I'm looking forward to his new film Elysium.

Inception....eh. I still like it, but I kind of soured on it after three or four more viewings. Inception hit after Nolan's post-Dark Knight career, so everyone (at the time, myself included) jumped on the bandwagon.

Three Kings is still my favorite David O. Russell film. I want to pick The Fighter, but Christian Bale was the driving force behind that film.

I still have a bunch of DVDs to get through through. I bought the remake of Let The Right One In and The Wolfman '10 (really not as bad as the critics make it out to be) at Wal-Mart for cheap, and The Crazies original from MovieStop.

I wear the horror shtick around here. I think

Hey! I'm on the list of the horror junkies around here too!

It's my favorite movie genre, anyway.

You're not alone. Slasher is my favorite sub-genre with the original Halloween and Terror Train as two of my all-time favorites, but I still don't get the appeal of the original Black Christmas.

I think its just because it takes Christmas, a normally joyful time, and adds murder in. I think it is a decent slasher film, but nothing great.

For anyone who's interested in my weight loss, I went down 6.3 Pounds this past week. At 323.3 Now, 1.7 and i'll have lost 50. Started cardio today, just gotta keep going hard.

I think that was his first feature film, so he hadn't really gotten a feel for features yet. He improved very quickly though, as The Brood was pretty fantastic, and Scanners was awesome.

I did hear about his son beginning a film career of his own. Hopefully he has the talent of his father.

Beautiful scenery and questioning the meaning of life? Good to see Malick step out of his wheelhouse.

I liked Tree of Life when I saw it. As far as existential mind bending movies go, it's nowhere near the top of my list (The Fountain is number one), but it was still a decent flick.

I saw New World when I was in high school and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep during it. I have no memory of it.

Most of the DVDs I own are movies I can watch over and over again, and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels certainly fit that bill, as does District 9. I'm not sure if Inception will, but I mostly bought it because I need to see it again and it's not a bad DVD to have in my collection.

Never seen any of those, though I have seen the remake of The Crazies. It was... okay. Better than most modern horrors as far as I'm concerned, still kinda shitty.

Man, I want to watch RAW, but I'm completely into Bioshock Infinite! Just got to Monument Island. This is some seriously gripping stuff!

In other news, got a job interview with WHIO as a board operator on Thursday. Not expecting to get the job, but man, just being considered good enough for an interview has me giddy. I seriously can't believe it.

Congrats. Do you have your BS?

Yesssss, so happy you got the game! And you haven't even gotten into the thick of it yet. I hope you beat it as quickly as I did so we can talk about it tomorrow.

I assume that's a radio station, and that's real sweet. Would be a sweet gig and thing to put on your resume should you get the job.

Make it three brother.

For most of my childhood my baby-sitters were Jason, Freddy Kruger, and Chucky. Slasher films are some of the best mindless fun to have when it comes to watching a horror movie.

I don't see me putting it down any time soon, that's for sure.

Yep, radio station. Part-time position, which is great for me. Will be a heck of a thing to put on my resume. Really hoping I get it.

Have any of you video game junkies played Spec Ops: The Line? It's one of the most powerful narratives I've ever experienced in a video game. I'm still thinking about its consequences like a week after beating it.

Nah, I don't generally play shooters unless there is a heavy aspect of adventure, like Far Cry 3.

Consider it. Gameplay wise it really is just about a pure shooter, but again, it's one of the most awesome stories I've ever experienced in a video game.

I own three of those movies, I'll let you guess which three.

I loved that game, I may replay it again somewhere down the road

I have it sitting on my PS3, I plan on getting around to it as soon as I finish Dead Space 2, unless I get my hands on Bioshock Infinite.

I refuse to believe it was better than Mass Effect or Bioshock Infinite. Have you played Infinite yet? You should when you're done with finals.

All except Huckabees?

Eh, it was good, not great. If you liked that you should play Assassin's Creed II or III and Far Cry 3.

What my biggest problem with the game was, I think, is the fact that I couldn't apply logic to it. I'm not talking about the physics or anything, because hey, who wants to play a game where you can't jump impossibly long distances? I'm talking about the whole mystery of the island being so mystical and what not. At least in Assassin's Creed they have a scientific, albeit ridiculous explanation, and in Far Cry 3 the crazy shit can be explained as the result of drugs.

You should play Infinite. It's a pretty difficult game so I'm not sure how you'd feel about that, but it's well worth it.

The only new game that I have is Starcraft: Heart of the Swarm; which I haven't really devoted enough time to really sink my teeth into it.

It's fucked up, that's for sure. To me powerful wasn't the right word. More sickening and fucked up then anything. And the gameplay was less then it's competitors.

It was worth the price, since it was free.

If you don't feel like playing the game, just go on Youtube and you can probably find all the cutscenes made into a nice little "movie" for you. Save time and get the story.

Glad I didn't sit through all of that shit, god raw and TNA have been garbage. I NEVER though I'd enjoy Roh more than wwe or even TNA. Someone call me when this shit stops....
