Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

I've reached that age where I'm more content to sit at home on a Saturday night with my cat & watch TV than go out to the local dive with friends to see crappy live bands, & trying to hook up with random girls.

Somehow someway I got to argue the merits of Cowboy Bebop being superior to One Piece with a woman tonight. Don't ask me how this is possible or how it came about, just know booze was involved and my successful defense of Spike Spiegel shall go down in the annuls of history. It was so good it would have made Bill Clinton look like someone that completely believes in abstinence.

In what way? If it was series vs series and their successes then One Piece undoubtedly wins, but if it was character vs character based on development then I'd pick Spike. Luffy is no more developed than Goku - who is basically the archetype for simple shonen characters.

Fuck man, working Transit Security in a major city is worse than being in the Army.

I just got finished doing paperwork because a guy took a shit on the bus and wrote "fuck you" on the window.

The hilarity never ends.

Both my teams are in the playoffs!!!! fuck yes!!!

Wild get the honor of being swept by the Hawks, & Wings get the send teh Dirty Ducks waddlin' home with their beaks between the tiny legs!

Such a disappointing season so far for the Wild. Shame my other team the Stars couldn't make it thanks to your other team the Red Wings.

At least we have the Wild to cheer for against the inevitable.

How about you suck on my balls a little bit?

Oh well, my team may not have made the playoffs, but at least I did well in fantasy.

So I flat out failed my Japanese Film final. Badly. 62%. Still wound up with an 84 average in the class because I am a film genius.

Apparently the power of my bullshit has been weakened. I blame senioritis and the fact that I attended maybe half of those classes.

What did you have to write about for the final? I'd assume at least one reference to Akira Kurosawa was made? I've got a collection of 4 of his crime films which I thought I had packed for the move but apparently not.

Negative, though we did watch a few of his films (Ran and Rashomon), that just wasn't the nature of the assignment. The assignment called on us to compare two films, one from the class and one from outside the class. That was it. It was an absurdly easy assignment for a film major, a group that probably made up 1/5 of the class. The rest were people taking the class for an elective or a culture credit or something.

My paper compared the movie The Family Game with American Beauty. Both of them were about a "typical" suburban family that was so concerned with keeping up their appearance of being normal that they didn't realize they were being destroyed. It also had aspects of finding happiness, and both of the movies had famous dinner scenes.

It's not my greatest work of art, I'll admit that, but it was good enough to get an A.

I'm much more excited to find out my grade for the paper I had to write for my cinema seminar class. For that one I wrote about the nature of consciousness.

I really wish I could get into hockey, never really found it that exciting, and i watch english football. I guess i really just dont understand the rules, well i've never really tried to either. Whats all this line stuff? Blue lines?

Youtube other Hockey 101 videos for more rule explanations

I learned most of the rules of the game by playing various hockey video games. Same for Football.

Hey, hey, HEY!

That's a whole lot to grasp right away, I have a feeling i'd understand it more if I just watched it with someone a few times.

That's probably the best. Or even watching games on TV, they tend to explain rules as they come up. It won't be as in depth, but it'll happen often enough that it can sink in.

Ran is immense, Rashomon just confused me. Throne of Blood is his take on Macbeth and has some fantastic imagery throughout it, plus a real money shot towards the end which I didn't think would be pulled off as well as it was.

Ran is definitely a film of the epic genre. Interesting that you mention Macbeth and Throne of Blood, because Ran was his take on King Lear.

Rashomon was probably my favorite film we watched this semester. I just thought it was really interesting and gripping as well.

WWE house show coming to town at the end of June, then they're doing RAW the next night in Sioux City, IA, which is about an hour to hour & a half from where I live, sadly RAW will be on the first of the month & the first of the month is typically impossible to get off.

Hey, hey, HEY!

I gotta call it that, friend, i've known american football as football my whole life. Footy is cool though.

Y2jake got me into football strange enough. Not a fan of Man U, I like city more. Tottenham because of the name(LOL), and Stoke because of Jake. I know nothing really about the sport, I just like to watch them run and spin and shit, and yell GOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLL when they score. It always makes me sad when it ends 0 all. I'm starting to get it more, but I usually only watch the Premier league.

Ah no it wasn't really that, it was the implication that anybody could find English football boring. Madness.

My dad is a Tottenham supporter, but more because of the fact that they have a strong Jewish fanbase. I'm an Everton supporter, because WrestleZone told me to.

Most Americans still don't understand it, as ridiculous as that seems.

America, the only country in the world where women explain the offside rule to men.
