Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

Well if those interdimensional beings are disappointing for you, you're going to hate the rest of the game since they're a major part of the story.

Damn. After thinking on it a little more, the whole reveal in the vault, despite looking spectacular, was utter tripe. It was Vince Russo levels of unnecessary swerve.

Another good story undermined by thinking that religion and history is not enough.

I don't remember being let down by the vault because of the video that you piece together throughout the game by looking at those glyphs. That video gives you a pretty good idea of the spectacular things that are going on.

One of the few things I have not collected fully but in the main story, the existence of the vault is really tagged on right at the end.

Also, you do realize that Brotherhood and Revelations come in between 2 and 3, right? And they're not just expansion pack type games either, they have full blown plots that you'll need to see if you want to know what the hell is going on.

That or you can just read the plot summaries on the internet and save yourself a few months of gaming.

Just what I need - more games and more expense.

Might just jump on to AC3.

Alberto Del Rio has failed to get reactions for about two years now and they're just realizing this now. Unbelievable.

I like face Delberto. I mean he isn't great, but I kind of dig it. I do think the credit for that likely lands on Ricardo, who is just fucking awesome.

Also (back to the peeing/butt talk) did anyone see the "P. in her butt" sign in the front row during Raw? I nearly lost my shit when I saw it.

Eh, I could see how you'd think that, but had you collected the glyphs you would have seen the story start to point in that direction, and by the time you're done with Revelations everything is pretty clear.

I never really had a problem with the "Ones That Came Before" part of the story. Pre-ancient civilization is a fascinating concept to me anyway, and I figure if you're going to have a game that allows you to relive memories of your distant ancestors in order to help your friends win a war between two shadow organizations that have been around for nearly 1,000 years... you might as well go for broke.

If it helps, they're not inter-dimensional, time traveling, demi-gods; they're a different race altogether, like Asari and Turians in Mass Effect, or Men and Mer in Skyrim. They're just highly advanced and have transcended the need for physical bodies/created highly intelligent holograms of themselves.

One of the few things I have not collected fully but in the main story, the existence of the vault is really tagged on right at the end.

Collecting the glyphs was my favorite part of the game. It was thrilling to see this chase scene unfold and reveal the truth behind the Pieces of Eden.

If you do I'd recommend at least reading the entire summary of what Desmond learns from his ancestor's memories, if not read through the entire plot of the game. If you want an abridged version, I could probably throw something together for ya.

Fair warning, though, AC3 has the most to do with the "Ones Who Came Before" in the entire series, and you're pretty much forced to interact with them throughout the entire game, though only briefly when you're actually in the animus.

I actually like him too. He's a good face, but that doesn't change the fact that nobody cares about him until the match starts.

And I agree that Ricardo deserves much of the credit for whatever success Delberto has had. He manages to be both funny and, at times, heroic.

Also (back to the peeing/butt talk) did anyone see the "P. in her butt" sign in the front row during Raw? I nearly lost my shit when I saw it.

I did not see that, but did you see Justin LeBarr up close and personal?

That's how I've justified most of my recent wrestling DVD purchases as well. You think I'd pay full price for an Edge DVD?!

Yeah, I tagged them as being very similar to the Ancients of the Stargate Universe. I suppose me being a big fan of those series didn't help my response to the reveal - "Eh, not this type of crap again. Nothing new." But even with the genetic memories and the Pieces of Eden, I still think that the pre-ancient civilisation thing is a step too far.

Might go back and find them then, although I do find it a little strange that something so important to the end of the story of the game would be so hidden and even something of a sideshow.

Nah, you're okay on the abridgement. Cheers though.

Might wait until Brotherhood and Revelations come down in price a little more before I go on.

Do you think I'd pay full price for any wrestling DVDs?

I suppose they could have steeped it in religion rather than some pre-ancient explanation, but it never bothered me. Then again, I've never seen that used as a plot device in anything else other than Mass Effect, and it was done extraordinarily well there.

It's not really important, just revealing.

They were both very good games and Ezio gets more badass with each addition. The three middle games are the best in the series with 3 being a disappointment and 1 being flat out unbearable at times.

I would definitely rather have seen the religion idea used. A disembodied voice and guiding hand in events, hinting at but never fully revealing a divine authority directing/overseeing events.

I would far rather have had the mystery than another player in the game.

Ezio was definitely becoming more of a badass by the end of AC2. The beard made a big difference. The fully kitted out armour of Altair was pretty spectacular too, although I continue to laugh at the lack of inconspicuousness that such armour provides, especially with the dye jobs you can get in AC2.

I had a thought about Raw but it escaped me.

Oh yeah, now I remember - those "USA!" chants, given the context, are rather worrying, aren't they? Though I hardly expected wrestling fans to be the most progressive bunch.

And Altair's armour was the shit. Wanted to to throw my controller down when it gets destroyed in the first few minutes of Brotherhood. Do you have any idea how many fucking catacombs I climbed through to get that thing?

Yes, it was quite troubling given the fact that this week The People decided to deliver some frontier "justice" to Ricardo Rodriguez. Apparently more people are okay of harming innocent civilians than I thought.

Then again, there's a strange mentality around the "USA!" chants. Patriotism isn't so much a characteristic in America as much as it is a competition, so if one asshole starts chanting "USA!" and you don't follow suit, that means you hate America and are a communism loving terrorist that probably hates Jesus, apple pie, baseball, and freedom. Especially freedom.

So I wouldn't put too much stock in Pittsburgh being pro-vigilante regarding Mexican immigrants. I think it's more likely that a few smarks started the chant sarcastically and the rest of the arena realized that if they didn't join in they'd be tarred and feathered as loyalists to the crown, or whatever the 21st century version of that is.

And Altair's armour was the shit. Wanted to to throw my controller down when it gets destroyed in the first few minutes of Brotherhood. Do you have any idea how many fucking catacombs I climbed through to get that thing?

If I remember correctly the catacombs in Revelations make the catacombs in 2 look like child's play.

Also, didn't the beginning scenes of Brotherhood and Revelations do an absolutely ridiculous job explaining why you were starting from scratch? They may as well have just flashed some text that said, "Ezio lost all his equipment because of some craziness. Guess he has to start all over!"

And Mick Foley loved her.

...Man, I hated Melina. Too loud.

I always thought she was horribly overrated because she was just ridiculously flexible. It provided for some fun spots, but ultimately didn't amount to jack as she mostly just rag dolled around the ring. I just finished watching her match with Beth Phoenix at Royal Rumble 2009 and she was so sloppy, a stark contrast to Beth's usual crispness.

Royal Rumble 2009 was so long ago that they didn't even release the DVD in high definition. I can't tell if this is 2009 or 1989.

JR sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles at this show. More so than usual anyway.

And LOL at Vickie with all that hair.

I think you have to be a little crazy in general to become a professional wrestler, but fucking insane? Why is this your diagnosis?

The Melina comments, plus the whole Triple H thing from earlier this year. Plus all his mega feuds in wrestling, like Shawn or Vince. We always seem to portray Bret as the good guy in those feuds, but maybe he was actually the antagonist the whole time.

The Melina comments could be chalked up to him trying to get laid. The Triple H comments... I don't know what he was doing there, just being bitter I suppose.

As for his feuds with Vince and Shawn, calling Bret the bad guy for refusing to play ball when Vince had a fairly reasonable request is nothing new. Vince wanted Bret to drop the belt before he left. Sure, it was to a grade A douchebag that treated Bret (and pretty much everyone else) like shit, but it make all the sense in the world for that to happen. But to betray Bret like that was still uncalled for, and while Bret Hart has apologized for his wrongdoings (and I think Vince has as well), HBK still remains unapologetic.

There was no good guy in the Montreal Screwjob chronicles, just varying shades of bad.
