Glass Ass: The OFFICIAL JGlass Thread

No LD texts, plus, 99% of people are going to have better shit to do than watch 3 hours of raw on xmas eve

Count me in that 1%, then. I played Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 3, for the record, is the most absurd video game I've ever played. It's a lot of fun, but preposterous. I'm pretty sure the game developers had a dude on a permanent acid trip on hand at all times whenever they got stuck.

Raw was awesome. Not in the usual way, but in its own way. Check it out when you get the chance

There is a chunk of the show in the middle hour that was boring, but the last hour or so was entertaining, I missed the first hour.

I've heard some good things about Fry Cry 3, hopefully it's better than Far Cry 2, because that game lost attention fairly quickly.

Talking shit about my state....

And to hell with you, Justin. You could hang out with me to....

Yeah, we could hang out & you could show me all your comics that you own but haven't read;)

It's a pretty difficult game, so you'd probably suck at it, though there is an easier setting that I didn't try that might make things a lot better.

and for the J-O-O

I love it. I forgot that Moon Knight is Jewish. Though I'm not sure I know who the chick he's talking is, or the dude lighting the Menorah, or who all these little kids are (apart from the Richards children).

The dude lighting up the Menorah is Billy Kaplan, he was in the Young Avengers but more famously known for being a whiny ***. No seriously, his only real contribution to his team is that he is the homosexual son of Scarlet Witch, well that, and he performs magic.

Oh, is that Druid? Or is Druid someone entirely different? And that still leaves the identity of the chick Moon Knight is hitting on a mystery.

I think it is Wiccan, and the girl he is hitting on looks like Dazzler had a really bad Brittney Spears moment.

Oh yeah, Wiccan. I don't know why I confuse Wiccan and Druid, probably because they both have that sort of weird, underground culty feel to them.

I didn't know Dazzler was Jewish. In fact, I don't think she is. Her name is Allison Blaire, which is one of the most WASPy names I've ever heard.

If you need someone to mentor you and show you how to carry yourself with dignity in the WZCW locker room, just say the word.

I have no intentions of getting it anytime soon, if ever. I have Black Ops 2 & AC2 to keep me preoccupied for the foreseeable future.

Honestly only recognized about 4 people from that pic (Thing, Kitty, Moon Knight, & Sasquatch).

I think it is Wiccan

...but he looks nothing like Milenko:shrug:

And let them pacify me the way they did you? No thank you, I'll keep on rebelling without a cause. Or at least with a very stupid, self-serving cause.

Can't speak for Black Ops, but AC2 is probably a better game than Far Cry 3, especially if you're interested in story. The gameplay between the two is a push, though.

Looks like I'll have to wait til 3:00 to see Django Unchained, I missed the only matinee they have showing today so I'll have to pay full price.

Just got back from seeing The Hobbit with the folks. My dad and I really enjoyed it, my mom... not so much. Still, I have many complaints to raise with this movie, as one is wont to do with these nerdpieces.

1) Didn't this feel more like a Disney action/adventure than a New Line action/adventure? The scene in the Goblin town where they're cutting ropes and swinging from platform to platform really did it in for me. It felt more like Pirates of the Caribbean style action scenes than Lord of the Rings style, though I suppose you can chalk that up to the nature of the size of the party, having 15 adventurers rather than a huge army composed of multiple races.

2) This movie started with the pace that we've come to expect from the Lord of the Rings series, but once the action starts it never stops. It's kind of absurd.

3) Every 15 minutes there's this deep, dark realization of the characters that something terrible is happening. We, of course, know that Sauron is coming back and the events of Lord of the Rings are being foreshadowed, but it's a little much.

Still, overall a very enjoyable film. Not as good as Fellowship or Return of the King, but about on par with Two Towers.

Kinda wish I had not gone to my local tonight. Even though I had a couple of drinks with my close friends to toast Christmas, the amount of blow ins and jagoffs present turned what is normally a quiet bar into a "wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Yes, I've noticed that around the holidays your local hangouts tend to become populated with undesirables.

You're welcome.

What did you think of the 48 fps? Was it even that noticeable?

I get what you're saying, but even the book has a different feel to it then the LotR series. I wouldn't say it feels more fun, but it is less serious.

This was my biggest complaint with the film. The scene where Radagast is fixing up the hexed animal he found was pretty extreme due to the fact that the common viewer would have no idea what the hell was happening. I was able to piece it together and link it to Sauron but people like my friend were like 'What the fuck?'

Still, overall a very enjoyable film. Not as good as Fellowship or Return of the King, but about on par with Two Towers.
I thought it was great overall. I was weary of it being split into three at first, but after seeing where they're going with it, I think it's appropriate. Not to mention, two more movies with the beauty of the setting isn't anything I can complain about. Also, the ending where Smaug opens his eye was a nice way to close this movie out.

At times yes, but I feel like you really need to be looking for it to notice it, and it was more noticeable for somethings than others. For instance, I thought Ian McKellen looked tremendously aged in this film (which might just be because he is), and some of the costumes looked a little goofy with the 48 fps. That said, if you're just looking to enjoy your trip to Middle Earth, I doubt you'll even notice.

Definitely true, The Hobbit is much more of a kid's book than the LotR series, but I feel like there was still a way to make the film a little more adult. The whole escape from the Goblin city was pure ridiculousness and you never really felt the peril that one felt when The Fellowhsip had to fight through the hoards of Goblins in the Mines of Moria. The Hobbit's Goblins felt more like Harry Potter characters than they did LotR characters.

Yeah dude, I'm fairly well versed in the LotR Universe, and even I was pretty confused with that scene. I guess Peter Jackson needs something to fill up three three-hour films so he decided to go as much into detail with this as possible.

Yes, the ending scene was fantastic from a cliffhanger standpoint, though it's not exactly a surprise to see that Smaug is still guarding his treasure despite the Dwarves' suspicions.

I think that the hardcore Tolkienites are going to really love this movie as it's going to incorporate The Hobbit, some LotR foreshadowing, and even dip into The Silmarillion. The casual viewer is going to enjoy the movies because of the scenery and how fantastical everything is, but about 1/3 of each movie is going to be totally lost on them.

I did not eat myself into oblivion on Christmas. I must be getting old.

Well obviously, you need some sort of magical portal to find your way into Oblivion. Eating all the sweet rolls in Cyrodiil won't get you there!

How was your Dec 25th Chinese feast, JGlass?

It was okay, though I kind of felt sick after eating the food. Don't know why, we get from this place all the time and I never get sick, but today I felt sick. Maybe it's because I had to hear my grandma's chewing. I don't know what it is, but that woman makes the most disgusting noises while eating Chinese food.
