is not represented in this tournament at all

I see no Clerks, no Mallrats, no Chasing Amy, no Dogma, no Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, no Jersey Girl, and no Clerks 2, yet I see a piece of crap film like Blair Witch Project which has all but forgotten for the most part, yet to this day I still hear people referencing lines and scenes for Kevin Smith movies, the man is a fucking cultural icon, and yet he's completely left out of this tournament?!? to say I'm highly disappointed would be a huge understatment to say the least

Justin makes a valid point about the lack of Kevin Smith. He's just a casualty of the 32 films per region rule. I'd certainly not put all of his work in there - but Dogma and Clerks 1 for certain. Oh well, there are always bubble teams in these things, unless you're an idiot like me and just keep expanding. That's why we had 350+ bands in 4 regions of the rock tourney - I didn't know when to say "no."

Bravo to Shango and KB for enforcing the films that were seeded. I'll be thrilled to discuss those that were chosen. Bravo, fellas!

5. No Country for Old Men vs. 28. American Psycho

Should be a cakewalk for American Psycho...no really. NCFOM is absolutely garbage. I know we have some die hard AP fans. NoFate...Sam...Murfish Im looking at YOU!!!!

The Viewaskewniverse highly overestimates Kevin Smith's contributions to film. Kevin Smith's movies generally do not make as big a splash as his fan base believes. Yes, they turn a profit, but only because the budgets are so minimal to begin with. Kevin Smith wouldn't be able to secure a big budget for a movie unless he was tapped to film a Marvel comics adaptation. His upcoming Zack and Miri Make a Porno has a decent shot at being a mid-sized hit. But most of the movies you mentioned have a small following yet had minimal actual impact critically, culturally, or commercially. I mildly considered Dogma and Clerks, I'll admit. But the fact that you can even think to mention stuff like Jersey Girl or Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back just proves my point that Kevin Smith fans must be some special sort of "loyal". Maybe it's something in the water...

It's not neccesarily what the majority of people think. There's a relatively strong fanbase for American Psycho on this forum. Throw in that there also seems to be a lack of a NCFOM fan base on the forum, and American Psycho could very well upset the Best Picture winner.

NCFOM is one of those movies where you have read between the lines, I had to watch it twice before I actually got it, as it made more sense the second time around, but it really is a brilliant film.

Well, for the First Round, it'll be discussion only for the first day, followed by the polls being open for 72 hours. 4 matches per bracket per day Monday through Thursday, so we'll have the first round completely done by the end of the week. Then each match will progressively get more time as the rounds progress.
