My Picks:
Chinatown
The Shining
Bladerunner
Matrix
Usual Suspects
Departed
Crash
Kill Bill
Eternal Sunshine
American Pstcho

I Resevior Dogs in it?

Nah. I love it, but I don't quite think it qualifies for this tournament, especially seeing as there are so many other crime films in it, and there's four in 90's alone. Personally, I'm disappointed that I didn't get to put Heat in there.

I'll be behind the DIsney films as those are my childhood and I defy anyone to argue that movies today from pixar (save for toy story) can hold a candle to Lion King, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.

I'll get behind the Disney. A lot were great in the 90's, equally as good as the early ones. But nobody else will.

The good thing about the cartoons is that they don't date as badly as some. A lot of the 90's & 2000 films are good now, but they'll look like shit in a couple of years.

I'm going for Lion King, so I'm with you on that one...

It's hard to judge with Pixar. CGI usually makes a film look more dated than it is. Look at Toy Story now, it doesn't look great and it's only 13 years old.

1970’s

3. Star Wars
24. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
31. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

1980’s

2. ET: The Extraterrestrial
3. Die Hard
5. The Empire Strikes Back
6. Ghostbusters
8. Back to the Future
17. The Terminator
18. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
27. The Karate Kid

1990’s

4. Forrest Gump
8. Toy Story
9. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

2000’s

1. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
3. Gladiator
4. Spider-Man 2
20. Finding Nemo
23. The Incredibles
25. Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan
26. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

What i'm probably arguing for, plus probably a few more. That was a lot more than I actually thought.

That's like deeming Psycho to be dated because it's in black and white. True, Toy Story doesn't have the best animation, but for it's time, it was revolutionary, it was innovative, it was beautiful.

Psycho isn't dated. Black & white films really don't date badly, certainly not if the film is good.

But Toy Story doesn't look great now. With the standard of CGI getting better, it stands to reason that the early stuff doesn't look anywhere near as good. the script is great. But the film would look even better now if it was animated. When it comes to drwaing the style doesn't evolve as much.

That's why the lost world looks more dated than Jurassic park. CGI

American Beauty got SNUBBED.

It's better than at least a few movies on the 90s list.

I really, really like American Beauty. And KB loves it. But we really didn't hear anyone mention it, and we weren't sure how many people had seen it. At least with Sideways, I had heard a few people mention it. American Beauty was one of the ones that really killed me to leave out.

BORAT, Is higher on the seeding than...AMERICAN PSYCHO???? The pain in my loins is not ceasing to stop. The anger is overcoming me. I might have to return some video tapes.

Its a shame, cause American Beauty is one I'd have loved to be on the list, too.

You guys are going to hate me by the end of this tournament. I can tell you right now, if I find the free time, this place is going to be loaded with long and detailed NoFate lectures haha.

I might not be able to represent Bateman & Ellis in that debate, unfortunately :(. I haven't seen No Country for Old Men yet and I'm not sure I'll be able to get around to watching it before the tournament starts.
