CM Punk WINS The WWE Championship!!! Cena fired???

That was the single greatest promo/shoot i have ever seen in my life, and am proud to have seen it on tv. Punk is the best in the world, and that solidified everything we all knew to be true.

As for those calling it a shoot/work..........simple answer........it was a worked shoot.....WWE incorporated Punk's real feelings into their programming for their profit......simple as that.

IF this was a work, which i don't believe it is. I believe it started as a work then quickly moved into a shoot. But lets play devils advocate and call it a work. The WWE "Suspends" him, then removes his facebook page, then makes a match for his replacement at the MIB pay-per-view. Why? did Punk resign and Vince pull something out of his hat to stir up interest? Possibly, but it won't create huge PPV buys, so what's the real for a work so dramatic when the audience is PG centered?

Now if it was a shoot, the fall out makes perfect sense. People in this forum and people who saw Raw will tune in next week and up until the PPV, but when Punk is written off TV you won't follow him to TNA or ROH. You'll lose interest when his story line becomes dull and boring. Remember Rhyno when he threw the ECW title in the can and lit it on fire. Where's Rhyno now? How about Kurt and his anger towards the WWE. That lasted long didnt it? The only guy who became well known after he left was Lesnar and it happened when he got into the cage, not the NFL stunt people forget about.

So unless Punk goes into a different sport his fame will die quickly, just watch.

Haven't watched the rest of Raw but watched this promo and wow. Just out of this world.

WWE need to give him the title and convince Punk to stay because he just went from great mid card/upper mid card guy to potential world superstar. This could be his 3:16 moment, the moment that changes him from a guy who could be great to a guy who is in a league of his own. A part of me doesn't trust them to do this but then again they let him cut that promo which was pure brilliance so lets hope Vince lets this keep going.

This was obviously a work and a brilliant one at that. My jaw actually dropped. This was one of the best things I've seen in a long time. A few thoughts:

- Why would he mention TNA when he calls Hulk Hogan a brownnoser and he's one of the top brass in TNA?

-I believe he's already signed a new contract with the WWE and they came to terms with his demands, i.e. keeping the rights to his name. He'd be the perfect anti-Cena that could now draw like crazy after this promo.

-He's basically echoing what the IWC and other outlets are saying. Vince isn't stupid and is using this as a boost in PPV and TV ratings.

-USA Network probably approved of the shoot beforehand citing ratings boost and extra revenue as a reason to allow it.

-He WILL get his leave of absence after Summerslam where he loses his belt to John Cena and since the rumored Cena/ADR feud wouldn't be the main event, ADR cashes the MITB contract he wins in 3 weeks right after the match to fulfill his 'destiny'. He will probably return a few weeks before Wrestlemania and start a feud with Stone Cold. He may lose that match due to outside interference by Shawn Michaels when he's superkicked while draped over the ropes with the ref's back conveniently turned. I don't see Shawn coming back for one more match though.

Punks promo has to be the greatest one this decade. From the delivery to the content, he had me on the edge of my seat wanting more (and I haven't been this way since Rocky left). I believe that it was a real shoot. It may have started as a work, but it damn sure broke down into a full blown shoot. Vince isn't stupid, That promo was GOLD, and Vince knew it would get ratings. Vince may have let it run but that if you were sitting on a cash cow wouldn't you milk it for all it was worth? It doesn't mean that Vince won't punish Punk for the disrespect. I was a fan of Punk before but tonight I honestly Marked out completely for Punk and he could have told me the sky was green and that Cole could wrestle and I would hav believed him in that moment.

Well I wouldn't doubt that not only is Punk inked in to another contract, but that they have a deal with ROH where they will give them exposure to the mainstream wrestling audience in exchange for making their product a little edgy and unpredictable. So this angle will get stale rather quickly unless they let Punk win the title and take it to the indies.

The fact that this promo was cut tonight tells me one thing: Vince is NOT as senile and insane as people think he is. Sure, he still IS but man. I just cannot believe this happened. WHOEVER came up with this idea- Punk, Vince, writers, WHOMEVER- this was just....MAN.

wow
i knew the holier than though people were going to come out.

"you guys are stupid to think its a shoot. Im smart and your dumb."said the douche

Just because you think you know how the business works and you think because once or twice you may have spotted a worked shoot then your automatically right. No. You can say what you want, but this is the first time something of this magnitude of a shoot or worked shoot has happend in the wwe since maybe the montreal screwjob interview with vince. And since then the wwe has become a publicly traded company. And i dont think punk basically calling out the company on its short comings would sit well with the stock holders.

Well i rambled on a bit. All i'm saying is maybe its a shoot, or maybe its not. So don't be cynical assholes because you don't know the truth your self's.

Youre prolly one of the people who thought that it was "bad for business" when The Rock came back and tore Cena and the Miz apart too. Everything happens for a reason in the WWE. Vince made his character the ass of so many segments to get Austin over before, why wouldn't he let it happen again with Punk? Nothing gets said on that mic without WWE approval anymore, period. Maybe a quick thing here or there but not an entire segment to close the fucking show. Use your head.

I honestly thought at the end of Cena's match, we would hear the usual boring heel promo from Punk that we always hear from other heels about how Punk was going to beat Cena at MITB and then leave with the WWE championship. I was wrong. Punk took a lackluster Raw and turned it into one of the best speeches all year in WWE. This promo is on the level to Austin 3:16.

We haven't heard anything like that from anyone in such a long time. Everything is so scripted and goes along the same formula week after week. If this is a worked shoot like it seems to be considering there isn't anything else interesting going on in WWE right now, I have to give Punk and WWE credit for doing something different for a change.

Punk may have gone down this path before in ROH, but it is refreshing to see it here again. If this were a different era or a different company then Punk's shoot probably wouldn't have been as effective considering how everyone in the attitude era and in TNA is trying to do "shoots" every week.

I don't think we have seen the last of Punk. Even though the website says he is "suspended", there is no way we won't see or hear from Punk next week or in the weeks following. It makes you wonder if he has actually signed a new deal or not.

Couple things that would be cool IF punk does come back..

1. Brings in Colt (wwe signs him to get Punk to reup) and they go after Cena/HHH

2. Punk is out of the money in the bank ppv but come through the crowd and climbs the ladder to take the money in the bank case earning a title shot whenever he chooses.

It all depends on if punk does sign a new contract, if he doesn't then he is the most most wanted free agent in wrestling now..

I have been watching wrestling for the better part of 15 years and there are a few things I wanna say about this:

First off CM Punk made everyone his bitch tonight on the mic. Great work by him.....Never really have been a big fan of his because I always thought he was kind of bland but tonight I gained all of the respect for him in the world....JOB WELL DONE

Second, I truly believe that there was a bit of a mixture....I believe some of it was worked but some of it was definitely ad libbed so in essence this should be dubbed as a worked shoot.

For the love of God can we please quit pounding into the ground about the PG era going away? Not gonna happen. In fact I completely agree with the post that I am quoting down below.....Well said Charismatic Enigma!!

Over the last few years of somewhat predictable and bland programing on WWE's part, a few moments REALLY stick out to me:

I feel I should take this opportunity to point out something to a lot of people though, the reason this promo is so shocking and feels so fresh is because it breaks from the normal climate of WWE's PG programing. So for all you clamoring to go back to the attitude era, just remember that a promo like this wouldn't have anywhere near the impact of feel as special if that kinda stuff happened every week. Birthday cake is delicious once in a while, but if you ate for every meal you'd get sick.
:worship:

Now why didn't he mention TNA? Are you serious? TNA is not even worthy coming out of the mouth in anyone in WWE. In fact TNA is a skidmark on the underwear of the professional wrestling community. In fact TNA shouldn't even be considered professional wrestling it's more like a middle aged- ancient age washed up has beens soap opera but i digress. :banghead:

I really don't know what to say about the whole suspension thing. I think it is necessary to further this angle but with the way creative is there is no telling what it means for the championship match at MITB. I've seen some people on here say there will be a triple threat number 1 contenders match between Del Rio, Mysterio and R Truth. We shall see but I hope they keep CM Punk in the championship match.

As far as him leaving with the WWE Championship can you say CHICAGO SCREW JOB!!!!

Bottom line is great job by CM Punk and his ability to resurrect MNR from its Cena slump.

:wwf: GET THE F OUT

I could see Vince doing an ECW round 2 with ROH, but for what reason. Vince liked Paul and i don't understand the reasoning behind Vince wanting to help a company at this point. Could be a possibility, but there hasnt been 1 iota of information about ROH and the WWE working together.

The WWE hired new writers they don't need help from ROH to make their product edgy. This could be one of the greatest works of all time if it includes ROH invasion with Punk at the helm, but it could easily be about a wrestler who got frustrated and had an opportunity to speak his mind before he left. It's happened many times before.

This kind of reminds me of the segment with JR, Vince, Taker, and Angle where Taker turned on JR and made him kiss Vince's ass. Taker's promo was a similar one about brown nosing to get ahead and how he has done it more than anyone. I remember that one was pretty shocking at the time too. It's good to see stuff like this again, makes and old wrestling fan's heart happy. I sure hope they keep Punk doing promos and stuff till the PPV they need to strike on him right now while it's hot.

Wow you're all going giddy over a scripted Promo Vince McMahon approved of? you realize half the live audience didn't know what the fuck he was talking about? Talk about overhype, you're doing what McMahon wants lol

What happend here tonight was probably the best thing out of WWE in years. I just wish it would stay like this drop the PG rating and lets go back to JR. cussing everyone out on Commentary, and John Cena being extra funny again, I mean gosh I love WWE but the PG must go. I have DVR and I cannot stop watching this from Punk absolutely wonderful.

Well Since WWE just posted a Question on what Vince should do on thier Facebook page, I going with it being a work. I decided to finally join these forums after lurking to discuss this amazing promo.

If you think about it, that promo was VERY long especially for something that's "unacceptable". It has to be a storyline but damn, did it seem real. WWE removed his Facebook, his match listing under the MITB PPV list and posted apologies everywhere.

Think about it, if they had to end RAW abruptly due to unacceptable behavior then he would be fired not simply suspended "indefinitely".

It seem all so real, if it wasn't, i applaud CM Punk and VKM. But the suspended "indefinitely" could of been thrown out there because they don't know what to do yet. It Could of been a split second decision and didn't want to rush and fire him.. The could of already made the decision and this could be the reason for the removing facebook pages and superstars page..

Just keeping the wheel rolling. lol

I think what people are failing to mention is the fact that CM Punk didn't receive one "WHAT?" chant. That shows how great his promo was and how he had the crowd on a string.

IF this was a worked shoot, this BETTER be hush, hush and NOBODY better tell Meltzer or ANY OF THOSE GUYS ANYTHING!!!! This is gold but could turn to shit really quickly IF this was a worked shoot and IF it got leaked. This could be EPIC written all over it. Imagine if you were in the audience. WOW.

Who knows at this point, but considering how quickly WWE did everything, posting on WWE.com, deleting Punks facebook, I would bet its a work. Plus, like I said, WWE just asked what Vince should do about it on their facebook page.

Either way it was an epic promo. Best ending to Raw since the Nexus angle, but much better in my opinion. I don't know if the hole script was written or if WWE just told him to go and say stuff but it was awesome either way.

Because it's a work and it was pre-planned?
There's nothing "real" about this, Punk would not be insulting his bosses if it wasn't approved.

Very true
Promos need to be approved by somebody before it comes out, this is totally a well done worked shoot, I have to give the WWE's creative team credit for this...

Yeah, no way Vince is giving Punk a push like this if he doesn't have another contract. He would not of been allowed to cut tonights promo if they didn't have bigger plans for him. They just added the rumors of Punk being unhappy and wanting to leave to his on screen character.

This is my first post ever (there will be many more)...I'll try to be interesting as I can be.

All I gotta say is Wow! to CM Punks promo. That was definitely one of the greatest promos of all time whether it was real or not.
As we all discuss this right now RAW for next week is going on in that same arena and will no doubt be one of the most watched RAW's in a long time next week. Too bad its not Live!, but it might make it more interesting esp. being able to see the crowds reaction.

As so many of you have pointed out, either way if it was a work, a shoot, or a "worked shoot", it was great. It has every WWE fan talking and that was the objective. Reading the results of the next show have me wondering what is really going on. You would think that, yeah, they'd turn off his mic if he was talking outside of his barriers and what not, but have we ever seen what WOULD happen if someone were to go off-topic? Nope. Because either way it makes good t.v. We won't know until either this report of the results finish or weeks down the line. It made us all talk like mindless drones (myself included, I won't lie, when he mentioned ROH and the iditotic daughter stuff I jumped out of my seat). If this whole thing with CM Punk leaving is true, legitimitely, it's a great lose to the company. In the last couple years I've really began to enjoy his work. Especially once he stepped into the commentary position for a few weeks. That was great. I guess we will all find out soon enough...
