CM Punk walks out

I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this is all a work and is part of the developing storyline. He will definitely be a part of WM30 and while he certainly won't be in the main event, he will still have a key match with someone, likely Triple H. I think this is a combination of storyline, rest, and rehab.

Who knows, maybe they have something Iconic in store for him at Wrestlemania?

If it was an angle, why not put it in on television? I mean, sure, it could be a work, but it really doesn't look that way.

Which is fine, if Lesnar, Taker, or Cena are closing the show. Dave Batista scheduled for a title match is laughable.

They haven't announced the match order yet. For all we know, Lesnar/Taker might close the show. Cena/whoever ends up facing him might close the show. The rumored Bryan/Triple H match might close the show (in fact, this seems like the logical choce to close the show if they want the 70k Yes! chant).

I think Punk going to the title match and Bryan moving to the match with HHH would be much better overall. I know the Bryan fans want him with the strap, but I'd be more satisfied with him kicking the shit out of HHH.

Mix it up a bit I thought. But you do have a point. Although I think Hardy's a ok heel and Punk is a good face

Don't get it twisted, I do think it would be a fun, albeit a little sloppy, match. I doubt the characters ivnvolved would matter so much for the match itself.

Maybe this is wishful thinking but all the reports I've read, and podcasts I've listened to (by smart people.. Keller, Meltzer etc) have all said he went home. None say he quit, retired or anything with finality.. They all say he talked to Vince and said he was going home. In the last 3-4 years most guys say that the company is now very helpful if a guy needs to get off the road.

Could this just be another break? the man has only had an 8 week break in almost 15 years I know it was only 10 months ago.

I love that but I think people are forgetting, He is under contract until at least July, then there is the non compete. 100% no chance they release him. On top of that, I do not know how his deal is written, but I know in Mysterio's deal when he is hurt and not working the pause button gets pushed on his clock.

I'd imagine Punk's more of the bloke to just sit at home rather than the one to go to TNA (i.e. the sensible, wealthy kind).

Because in the wonderful world of social media, you can create quite the buzz, and fast, before ever airing anything on television. Hell it hasn't even been 48 hours yet, and look at the response he's created. How many threads have already been started here alone to discuss it?

Sure it hasn't been aired on television. Yet. Let the audience stew for a couple of weeks, then return with another infamous pipe bomb, and it's the spring of Punk 2014 instead of the summer of Punk 2011.

Punk is notorious for doing these things. It creates plausibility and reality if done in this manner, especially when there is likely true resentment on his part toward Cena, Bryan, Lesnar, and Batista. It just seems more real. Wrestlemania is still 10 weeks away, lots of time for television appearances.

Ugh. Punk going to TNA would be so sad. It was different when Angle and Christian did it, they were a young upstart company trying to make some noise. Now... ew.

If you turn out to be dead wrong, as I expect you will, are you going to stop being so quick to give the WWE and their guys the benefit of the doubt in the future?

Because let's be honest: If this news were coming out of TNA, you'd have taken a nice heaping dump on that company by now and chastised them for being a sinking ship that can't hold onto big names.

I am sure Dixie already wet her panties with the thought- but Punk going to TNA is not happening. Ever.

NJPW or ROH maybe at some point for fun.

TNA will tease a "we have the hottest free agent coming" storyline soon.

It'll be MVP.

I doubt it's going to be MVP. I think he'd rather leave the door open for a WWE return.

If there is a "hottest free agent" storyline, it's going to be AJ Styles or Sting.

First of all, you should know better than to suggest I could be dead wrong. But yes, on the unlikely chance that I am wrong in this one instance, I would probably be less likely to give WWE the benefit of the doubt in the future.

And I only take a heaping dump on TNA when they deserve it, which unfortunately is more frequently than we all like. After all, TNA hardly has the same track record for retaining big names that WWE has. WWE can probably pull it off, whereas TNA probably cannot. Unless AJ Styles proves me wrong.

The lines are really blurred between works and shoots man.

Alvarez and Meltzer can scream SHOOT all they want but most of us will be like "get the fuck outta here with that n****!"
